This was our first trip to Universal. Myself (39), Husband (41), daughter (14) & son (12).

We flew Southwest out of Providence. All went well. We were 25 minutes early when we landed at Orlando, but sat for 40 minutes waiting for a gate. Not fun. Our Tiffany person was waiting and our luggage was the first out of the shoot. Now that's better. I will say the Southwest planes were dirty, actually filthy! I know they turn them over quickly, maybe a little too quick.

Next stop Royal Pacific. We had booked a club level room with 2 queen beds. There were none left on floor 7, so down to floor 6 we went. We were in 3604. A nice room overlooking the pool and park. Storage was a little bit of a problem. There is not very much of it. They are not laid out well at all. Lots of wasted space. They are set up for the business traveler or a couple, not 4 people. For those of you who are always wondering, there is a blow dryer and it works well. It was very quite the entire trip. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. We asked that bathrobes be sent up, they were. We received daily newspapers and turndown service, without request. We used both the water taxi and the walkway, but not the shuttle.

The lounge was very nice. Mornings started with fruit, pasteries, bagels, toast, yogurt, cereal, muffins, juice, coffee, tea and cocoa. Everything was very fresh. The offerings during the evening where veggies & dip, cheese & crackers, nachos and a few different appetizers. The appetizers were substantial (steak and cheese sandwiches & asian chicken salad one night). They also have free wine and beer. At night they offered a couple of different cakes, cookies and fruit. All day you could get fresh fruit, chips and cookies as well as drinks. The room itself is large and pretty. It has two large tv's at either end and a computer with internet access. The staff did an excellent job! For us it was worth the extra money spent.

The pool at the hotel is wonderful. It had plenty of activities to keep the kids busy with other kids.

The gym is adequate. The locker room with hot tub, sauna and steam were very nice. After the pool we would shower there. It saved the room from wet towels and a messy bathroom. I found the shampoo better in the locker room than in the room.

The best part of staying on site is the express pass. It was not very busy in the parks for most of our trip. We never waiting in line more than 5 minutes on any ride at anytime.

We bought our tickets through RCI, which I found out about on Mousesavers. They worked great. We paid under $400. for 4 adult, 7 consectutive day passes. We picked them up at guest services on the first day and they worked all week with no issues.

All the rides were great. My favorites were the Mummy and Spiderman. If anyone has questions about the ride. let me know and someone here will answer them. I have to admit, I did not do any of the rollercoastes, but the rest of my clan did.

We ate mostly lunches out. We ate at Hard Rock (okay), NBA (good), Confiscos (okay) and Mythos (excellent). I can't remember right now where else we ate, but with the exception of Mythos they were what I expected.

The only other tip I can think of get to the parks early, it makes a huge difference in the lines.

We also stopped at SeaWorld and Discovery Cove. I will post again on those.

If anyone has any questions, fire away.

I'm glad you had a great vacation. Did you do any pool time while you were there?

Thanks for sharing. What was the Mummy like?

I did not use the pool. The rest of my family did and loved it. They had water basketball & volleyball.

The Mummy was fantastic. I had read a lot about the backward drop. It is not that bad. Keep your eyes open. The first time I closed my eyes and lost my stomach a little. It is so worth doing. The coaster part of the ride is short, so if you don't like it, it is over quickly. My husband and daughter do all the rides. My son and I do not do the coasters. We all loved this ride. We went on it at least 7 times.

I have a few additions to my first report. We ate at Finnegan's (very good). My husbands fish & chips were the best. Bring and use your AAA card. It saves you 10% just about everywhere. Men in Black, press and hold the trigger, you will get a much higher score.

Thanks Julma, I am very much looking forward to doing The Mummy in July.

Hey Julma,

Great report. Your trip sounds very similar to mine. We leave from Providence on Southwest on May 10 :cool1: I hope I have just as much luck with our bags.

How was your driver? We booked Ed Korgan, thanks to the advise from these boards

Can't wait to hear about Seaworld and Discovery. Those are on our schedule also

We had Ines from Tiffany Towncar both ways. She was very nice.

If you are on these boards, I am sure you know to print your SW boarding passes before you leave. I got up at 1 AM to print mine on the way there and got As. I was up in the club lounge at 6:30 AM on the day we left and also got As.

I hope you enjoy your trip as much as we did. Like I said in my report, everyone at RPR was great to us. The young man who took our luggage when we arrived addressed us by name everytime we saw him.

Julma,

What do you mean by As? Are you talking seats? (now that I think of it I wasn't assigned seats :confused3 ) I'm not familiar with that, obviosly I have not read these boards enough

My excuse is that I don't travel much at all. Last year we flew American and printed our stuff at the kiosk at the airport. Is this not a good Idea?
We have the 6:30 am flight.

Thanks

SW does not assign seats. It is first come, first serve. Check their website for information. They give out A, B & C boarding passes. A's board first, B's second & C's last. At 12:01 AM on the day you fly, you can log on to the SW site and print your boarding pass. The boarding pass you print off will have an A,B or C printed on it. The earlier you log on and print the pass the more likely you are to get A's. If you check the transportation boards on this site there will be more info.

Julma, thanks for the report.

Do you think the room at RPH is big enough for 1 Adult and 3 kids (17, 14, 10) ?

Thanks.

VW31 - That is a tough question. The room is a"typical" hotel room. There are 2 queen beds, so they would have to be shared. I am not sure how many girls are in the group, but the bathroom is not well designed. There is one sink with a mirror over it. There is also a make-up mirror attached to the wall next to the sink. Another full length mirror on the bathroom door. You would think that would be enough, except they are all within a couple of feet of each other, so only one person can be at any of the mirrors at a time. There are no mirrors in the main part of the room.

I would suggest you look into club level. That way you could get ready in shifts and the kids could have a place to hang out other than in the room. Also, if you are in tower 3, the gym is on the first floor and you could make use of the showers there.

We do not spend a lot of time in the room, so I never even consider two rooms. I think with some thought and planning one room is doable.

chelleim,

Ed told me $80 roundtrip. He said he would meet us at baggage and take us to Universal

hi,

I just booked Ed Korgan too. The price sounds right and he comes highly recommended. I hope to stop at the grocery store and pick up some drinks. I will be staying at the hrh. Can't wait. leaving on May 4th. :cheer2:
