Fun Family Tradition while Onboard

Mine is also a more personal tradition (or will be when I go on my second cruise) and that is watching the sun come up while drinking tea on the verandah while knitting (as soon as it is light enough).

I'm taking notes. We don't have too many days left til we sail.
I am so excited....

What a fun list. I started to say we don't really have a tradition, but I did clean out the cabinets in the kitchen a few weeks ago and apparently we have the tradition of Mom (me) having a few sail away drinks and my daughter having pirate drinks....how I know this - the number of cups in my cabinets. LOL

We do also have dinner together each night and watching the show.

I have to brag! Our son won baby jack jack's diaper dash one year! It was a rainy day at sea and it seemed like the whole ship was watching! Needless to say, he was a local celebrity for the rest of the trip! We love seeking out the winner and talking to them! It's like a little diaper dash society! We have two traditions: taking the kids up on deck to watch a movie under the stars with ice cream and bundled under a bunch of towels. The second is walking off the effects of mixology on deck 4 before we stumble back to the kids club!

My morning routine at sea is to get up early, walk 3 miles on the Promenade Deck while the sun comes up, and then afterward have some tea and read on the veranda while waiting for DW to arise. In the late afternoon, I enjoy an adult beverage while reading on the veranda. I spend a lot of time on the veranda, preferring it to the pool and lounges.

Missyp, that is awesome we will be on the same cruise. What deck
will you be on? We are on deck 2. We will sail with 2 other couples,
great surprise to our husbands to top the whole thing off... We are so
excited..

I haven't had time to read through the whole thread so I don't know if this has been mentioned or not, but we always pick one evening of the cruise to skip the MDR and swim, eat and watch funnel vision on the pool deck (which is deserted during the evening dinner/show period). My kids love it because they don't have to put on sunscreen and they have the pools to themselves. We usually pick a port day so that we don't have to worry about rushing back and getting showered/dressed for dinner on time. I really love the MDRs and I hate to skip one night, but it really is worth it to us to have such a relaxing, slow paced evening.

We are on deck 8. We are sailing with our two teenage sons, so I guess my husband and I are essentially sailing alone, we never see the kids except at dinner. We are celebrating my 50th while onboard. We received our cruise documents today, getting very excited!!!

My DW and I always walk 2 or 3 miles on the promenade deck every day while the kids are in the clubs.
We also always take the kids pictures with a life ring with the ships name on the promenade deck.
Late night soft serve / pizza runs are another must do.

We have done two cruises so I don't know if they qualify as traditions yet but I can say I look forward to repeating them on our third cruise: falling asleep with a book on a promenade lounger, last evening sitting in the Mickey pool with ds all by ourselves during second dinner seating, and a few laps around the promenade with a cocktail and without the kiddos every other night of the trip. And I look forward to starting a milk and cookie tradition and a pizza and movie tradition, thanks for the ideas!

MissyP, I'm still waiting for documents, The other 2 couples have received theirs but, not us.
We are celebrating our 40th anniversary, 3 of them will turn 60 or have already.
So this will be a cruise of a life time for sure...

During our earliest Disney cruises, we would head to the promenade lounge and listen to the couple that would sing and put on a little dance party. Our Eldest DD would have a dress on (princess or otherwise) and dance around the lounge. She enjoyed having a 'cocktail' with us of cherries with a side of lemonade. Now she's old enough where that isn't 'cool' anymore but we're hoping to continue with her little sister.

Our other tradition is going to Palo both for brunch and dinner. Hubby won't miss it. We also get one day each as a "Spa" day. One parent watches the kids and the other spends the morning and afternoon with quality alone time.

Sounds like a great celebration for all of you. We received our documents on Saturday. My guess is yours are coming soon, if they haven't already.

My hubby and I have a "date" one afternoon in the Rainforest Room while the kids are in the club. So nice to have a couples tradition

The kids have a tradition of going to Goofy's PJ party. They then come home with a new pillowcase to add to our collection.

As a family, we have a tradition of posing for one really nice family picture (often on formal night). I then use it for my Christmas cards :)
