Me and DH work full-time, but I always like to plan ahead for our halloween night dinner since we start trick o treating with our DD2.5 early. I have heard of some fun recipes, but am trying to think of one for the crock pot so we can have a hot dinner prior to going out. I would love to hear your ideas?

We always get together w/ our neighbors & do a big "sha bang" on our driveway. We get some crock pots together, side dishes, snacks, etc. & a little bonfire going.

This Friday night, one neighbor is doing pulled pork, while another is doing chili.

I was thinking about doing pulled pork. We just moved to Nashville, and have heard about a party on our street, but don't know who to ask to find out what to bring? Your driveway party sounds fun!

Every year I make 2 roasted chickens with potatoes. I throw them in the oven and they cook while we are trick or treating. The house smells so good and we have a nice hot meal. I also make some biscuits or I get Italian bread and I make a veggie.

I use these all the time for quick easy dinners:

Chicken Fajitas - I just throw frozen skinless boneless chicken breasts in the crock with a slice onion, green pepper and red pepper and cover with a jar of salsa. Cook all day on low. Serve with flour tortillas and chips & cheese dip. EASY!!

Chili cheese dogs - throw hot dogs in the crock, mix a can of cheese soup with a can of hot dog chili and cook on low all day. YUM!!

These two come right off the top of my head, but I use the crock pot all the time.

This year we are doing a taco fixin's bar. I'll make the meat ahead of time in the crock pot....set things up and then all the neighborhood kids will come to eat before trick or treating. Then we plan on having a campfire. Kids are so excited.

Happy Halloween!!!!

We're doing make your own pizzas and having apple cider with eye balls.

my "eye balls" are frozen green grapes

My mother always used to make either:

"ghoul"-ash or "spook"-etti

when we were kids!

Very creative....but we're going to order a couple of pizzas!

One year I made hot dog 'mummies'...hot dogs with strips of crescent roll dough wrapped around it except for where the 'face' goes. After it's cooked I put small dots of ketchup for the eyes. Easy, and the kids think it's fun!

This year a couple we're friends with is coming over. They have the world's pickiest eater for a 3 yo so I'm not doing dinner. We're having an appetizer buffet. I'm making sticky wings, chips, veggies and dip, some buffalo chicken frozen apps I just bought, maybe cheese and crackers. Everyone can just 'graze'. The 3 yos will likely be too excited to want to eat much anyway!

I applaud all of you and your creative ways on Halloween.:cool1:

Sounds like you have some great traditions which nowadays seem to be lost forever and you've brought them back. Hooray!

With that said, Yup, we're ordering pizza - that is a tradition at my house. This year sadly we will not be riding in my mil's golf cart around the neighborhood beeping at all of the kids as we zoom by. We'll have to walk - for miles - in the cold. I know suck it up.

We always do the mummy dogs. Quick easy and so yummy!! I've done spider bread bowls with chili too, but the bread bowls would require a little extra work. We have friends coming over too, and I think I'll do an appetizer/snacks bar too.

Tomato Soup and Grill cheese sandwiches ;) .

No.. how about Scambled Eggs and Ham. If it's just you and hubby why stress about it :confused3 ,

If you want to get into the spirit you can make burgers and cut american cheese slices to look like jack-o-lanterns and melt them on top of the burgers.

Meatloaf is always easy.

We have an almost 3 year old that is really getting into it this year so was wanting to do something special.

If you guys have a Papa Murphys in your area, they are making "pumpkin face" pizzas to buy. They are really cute.
