Fun Character Stories?

Itty-bitty bump.

:D

(Sorry, I couldn't resist.)

On our last trip (last month) my "serious" dh got kissed on his head by Perla. We were standing in line waiting for Ariel (at MK), and Perla came over to dh and motioned for him to take his hat off. When he did she kissed his head and gave him a hug. He turned every shade of red. She melted him, for the rest of the day he was caught 100% in the Disney magic.

How about the time the seven dwarfs got in a fight (for real) with 2 teenage/young 20's boys that were being too "frisky" with Snow White. The guys ended being escorted out of the park by security. I forgot who wrote the story, about a year or so ago, but it was hilarious!

What a great question!!! I have had a lot of fun experiences with characters while I'm in WDW. One time when I went with my family in 94, the character Smee from Peter Pan had a lot of fun with me. My parents really wanted me to take a picture with him but I didn't want to. Finally Smee started playing around with me by taking my scrunchie out of my hair and running all around. Before we knew it, there was a WHOLE crowd of people watching Smee and I as if we were the entertainment!!! It was really funny.

Another time in 99, I was called out into the Magical Moments Parade to dance with Donald. THat was a really memorable moment for me. I still have the pictures to remind me, which always make me smile:) Finally, another great experience that I had with the characters was during my trip this past May. During this trip I was eating at The Liberty Tree Tavern in the MK. As my ex and I were eating, Goofy took a liking to me! Before we knew it, Goofy was "proposing to me," taking me all around the restaurant and having a grand old time!!!! It was one of the funniest times ever! The characters really know how to make u feel special!!!!!! Just thinking about all of these memories put a big smile on my face :)

I love all of these stories. Some have brought tears. Of course I have a few too I would like to share.

I have been to WDW with my boyfriend and severally disabled son who is in a wheelchair two time. We are now planning our third for my son's 8th birthday. I can remember two very special encounters.

The first we were waiting in line at Camp M&M to see Goofy and Pluto. There were about three more families in front of us, so we were just waiting until all of the sudden Pluto parts the line open takes my son's wheelchair and is tabbing people on the shoulder to move out of the way. I was a little embrassed, because I do not feel comfortable when the CM ask me if I want to cut in line of others who have waited just as long, but this time it was out of my control, but it was very precious to see Pluto pushing my son's wheelchair. It was a hot day that day and my son was not as happy as I wish he could of been, but it was sweet.

On our second trip, my son is now five, he was in a great mood. He receives botox shots to help him with his spasticity and they were kicking in big time, which makes him very relaxed and happy. We were eating at the Garden Grille. My DS does not eat by mouth so he was just sitting there happy and here comes Dale. He sits down with my son and helps him color. My son can not do this on his own. It was beautiful. The picture I took looks like my son is really looking at Dale coloring, eventhough he has cordical blindness (means his eyes do not process what he sees). Chip comes over and Mickey and they all join in on the coloring and leave a little message on the page to my son. I now have the coloring book page framed along with an enlargement of my son and Dale coloring. It is hanging on his bedroom wall. I smile everytime I see it there.

This is a wonderful thread!

The Chipmonks always seem to harass me :o My Mom and I went down in Dec 2001 to visit locations for my wedding reception the following year (poor dh had to work) and we had lunch at Hollywood & Vine. We couldn't decide what dessert to try, so we got a big dinner plate and took one of everything to share! Chip comes over and starts making a big deal about all our desserts. Then he starts feeding me airplane style some of the desserts. Before I knew it, I had a spoonful of whipped cream up my nose. It was hysterical and Mom even got pictures.

I'd love to hear more stories!

Hey Beast, thanks for the bumps. I missed reading all the great stories, but thanks for keeping them alive.:)

Any more stories out there? These are fantastic! We're going on Tues. I hope to come back with a story of my own to add.

I've met more characters then I could name off. I guess there have been a few really cool events. When I went to WDW in 1994 I met the Ninja Turtles and later found out that Kevin Richardson of the Backstreet Boys was working as one of the Ninja turtles during my stay!! Very cool because I became a huge Backstreet Boys fan, been to 7 of their concerts (never really met them though :( LOL)

Also during that trip I did Cinderella's Royal Table Character Breakfast, it was pretty new at that time. I am a Peter Pan obsessive and I got to meet Peter and Wendy at the breakfast!! Wendy was the most convincing "person" character I've ever met to this day. She talked so fast and so much! Just like the real Wendy! She went on about mermaids and tinkerbelle, it was sooo cute!

We had fun one time at DL. First Chip presented me with a rose. After I oohed and aahed over it while he acted bashful, he suddenly reached over me and grabbed another rose out of the vase on our table. Then preceded to the next table to do it all over again!
Then Dale grabbed someone's fork (still with a bite of waffle on it!) and lead a parade around the room, waving the fork like a drum majors baton. The parade ended at our table where the fork was presented to my SIL. Chip had missed all of this, and came over later, harassing my SIL. I pointed at the fork and told him she didn't clean her plate. He picked the fork up and was trying to get her to eat. She was laughing so hard she had trouble keeping her mouth shut so that the fork didn't make it into her mouth!

Peter Pan once picked up my DD, swung her around, gave her a kiss and hug. She loved it!
We also had the Mad Hatter standing with us in line, and he was sooo good, talking and making no sense, just like in the cartoon. He was my DH's favorite. We almost left the line and followed him!

Last year we took my granddaugter to MK for a day. Cinderella is her favorite character so I made a PS for an early lunch in the castle. (It was a last-minute trip so I didn't get a chance to make a PS for Cindy's breakfast.)

We told her all morning not to expect to see Cinderella (because she has work to do during the day) she wouldn't be there. Kara was still so excited to be eating in Cinderella's HOUSE!!! She just went on and on all morning.

When we were finally seated our server overheard her still talking non-stop about Cinderella. About ten minutes later, he came back and bowed to her and said, "Excuse me princess, but your presence is requested at the ceremony downstairs."

We didn't know what to think, so we followed. Downstairs we found Cinderella, The Fairy Godmother and Prince Charming just standing at the throne waiting for us. When Cinderella saw Kara she reached out and took her hand and said, "Well hello princess. I do hope you're enjoying your stay here at our castle."

Kara beamed. We had at least fifteen minutes with the characters. We got great pictures. And we left a real nice "thank-you" tip for our server!!

This thread has laid dormant for a little over two and a half months.

I really enjoyed it when it was "fresh" and I know many others did too.

Since there are new DISer's all the time and trips being taken by "newbies" and "veterans" as well, I thought it wouldn't be so bad to BUMP!!! it up again.

True? :D

At last year's MNSSHP, I was dressed up like Princess Aurora and Kevin was Prince Phillip and Jafar tried to run off with me. I resisted and explained that I was married to my Prince and then that bad Jafar actually attempted to take off my wedding ring!

That same night, Kevin had the honor of "knighting" Goofy at LTT.

We also wore "guest of honor" badges during our last trip and many of the characters wrote personalized messages to us!

Mary Poppins and Aurora completed my cursty(I watched a English period movie the night before and it was the next day at MK)

These stories are so sweet, I have to bump this thread for newbies to add to!!

I love this thread. Hearing about these interactions are great.

My DD9 loves Eeyore. He always looks so sad and she always wants to make him happy. Since she is such a big fan of his I brought her to Crystal Palace for lunch. She was wearing a pooh & friends Tshirt which had Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore on it. At the lunch those were the 4 characters we saw and they loved the shirt. She got pictures with all of them and their autographs. We told Eeyore that he was her favorite and he stayed for quite awhile interacting with her. I must have gotten about 10 pictures. My DS11 was there wearing a Goofy hat and Eeyore starting playing with it by holding the ears up in the air and had the other come over and tease him. He thought it was hilarious.
All the characters then when around to other tables but my daughter had a smile a mile wide.
After about 10 minutes guess who came back. Eeyore had my daughter stand up and he put his arm around her. He also put one of his ears over her head. That picture was great.
She still loves Eeyore. I think she always will.

For weeks before our last WDW trip we prepared my very shy 3 yo DS for meeting the characters, hoping he would not be afraid. We repeatedly asked him, "What are you going to do when you see Mickey?" He would respond, "I gonna give him a big hug." We spent our whole first day w/o seeing Mickey but just as we were leaving EPCOT we saw Space Suit Mickey. We were the only family around him. My little guy got up out of his umbrella stroller, head bowed, arms outstretched and slowly walked over to hug Mickey. We got the embrace in a snapshot but I don't need to see the picture, I will never forget it.
My other DS was 4 yo when he had a teasing match with Brier Fox near Splash Mt.! It was the slow season so the Fox did not have too many kids to interact with. When my DS yanked on his tail he went with it and the two of them started their own little show. They were pinching each other's noses and growling and feigning injury, sneaking up and scaring each other. It went on for a good 5 mins or more. People were stopping to watch and take pictures and they were laughing like it was part of the Disney entertainment. We got the whole thing on video. It's hilarious!

At MVMCP 2years ago we ate at Liberty Tree Tavern. My husband and I were chatting and I tend to speak and sign at the same time. Next thing I knew Minnie came over and was talking to me in sign language. We had a great conversation.

The "Indiana Jones" part of me went digging and found this small (compaired to some) but much enjoyed (by many) thread.

So, having been bumped back to the top, I hope all the "newbies" will enjoy it and by now there should hopefully be lots of new additions.

Since it's Resurrection Sunday, it might get lost easily. I may "bump" it once in the coming week.

During our first trip to WDW in 1997, my son (then 4yr old), wanted nothing to do with the characters. That was until we went into Cindy's castle and he saw the Fairy Godmother. He sat with her, talked to her and got "pixie dust" from her. It was the only picture we had with a character.

Well, fast forward to 1999 on our second trip, and who do we run into? The same fairy godmother. Not just the character, put the ACTUAL same person who plays the fairy godmother! I had spent two years looking at that picture and was shocked to find the same CM still there. What are the chances?? That was a very magical moment for us!!
