Full time campers at the Fort

We were there last weekend and the camper in 700 is the same one I have seen several time. I do think it looks a little crowded with all the golf carts parked on the site. I think there were four or five parked here and there.

I have seen that too, but many people know her and stop and visit, I never noticed them there late at night. Wished I could stay longer then a week here and there, but am very thankful for the many trips we do take.

We were there this weekend and the camper wasn't on the 700 or the motor home with the bird and a zillion blow ups on the 1600 loop. We go up all the time, and seeing fewer and fewer full timers not at all like in the 1990's when it had turned into a retirement village.... Don't get me wrong I would love to be a full timer but when it was next to impossible to get a site I was glad they changed the rules.

Let's see....

If I had a coach/5er worth more than my house, $3,000 - $4,000 a month for rent and a job I could work from my coach...

Temperate climate year round, annual passes to the parks, across the lake from one of the most popular theme parks in the world.

Yeah, I could find worse places to live. Just think, for vacations you'd have to go slum at the state parks on the beaches...

There are folks living at the Fort full time !! There is a lady that's been on 700 loop for at least 7 years. She rents out golf carts nd is a travel agent. There are several other people doing the same thing, I don't understand Disney's tolerance of this situation it takes money out of their pockets " Go figure"

That's interesting. Wonder if she'll still be able to do that with the crackdown. Or maybe they consider hers 'onsite rentals'. ;)

What I wouldn't give to be able to afford to live full time on Disney property!!

What is the "crackdown" you're referring to?

I understand Disney has been enforcing the no offsite cart rentals. Off site companies can not deliver to the Fort and many have now stopped trying.

Okay. I thought you were referring to extended stays. We're staying for two months this winter.

Oddly enough, I found this picture that was posted on 11-23-12 on another website. Apparently, its showing one of these long timers at the Fort.

We'd like to do that so how far in advance did you have to make reservations? We tried for 2015 but couldn't get it done so we're in Boardwalk for a bit in January.

Did you request a particular site or are you just taking what they are assigning?

Any hints & tips would be appreciated. I did try to PM you but I don't have enough posts (I usually lurk but not comment).

Thanks.

I'm not certain, Eyeeore, but I believe you only need 10 posts to be able to PM so you are almost there.

If I am wrong someone will correct me.

I aspire to do what ya'll are doing (or planning to do) someday.

You can only book 30 days at a time so we actually have three reservations. We booked in August by phone.

I will have to get on the phone. I think it's a little late this year for us but we made contingency plans but next year is definitely a possibility. We will wander through WDW at some point this winter. Thanks for the pointer.

Have a great winter there in Fort Wilderness.
