Full or self-serve gas?

I just wish Costco had an app where I could request they fill my tank while I am shopping in the store. Those lines for gas at Costco are very long some days...

I work until 6am and will hang out and chat until about 0620 then head to Costco and get gas right as they open at 0630. No lines and cheap prices, I'm in!

We only have one full serve near us, and it's attached to an auto body repair. It's a real treat to go to when the weather is bad! All of the other places near me are self serve. Most are attached to a convenience store.

We have both where I live. If full serve is the same price per gallon as self serve I’ll go to a full serve station. Some stations charge more for full serve so they don’t get my business unless I’m very low on gas.

For all y'all saying you have full service, just curious, where do you live??? Can't remember the last I saw/heard of that!

Wonder if it's a NE thing then?? We seldom travel up there.
It's already been stated in the thread why NJ still has it. Recently OR passed a law where counties that have a population of less than 40,000 (or 44,000 can't exactly remember which one) don't have to have attendents pump gas. But no it's not a new england (or north east whichever you meant) thing.

I grew up in NY and visit often, I know where all the full service places are where I go because I hate pumping my own gas. Best thing about moving to NJ was never having to pump my own gas again!

In all honest I have pumped my own gas I think 5 times, once in college, and the rest in Florida while traveling for work. If I can I will find a place where it’s full serve, in college I knew where the one and only was near me. Now when we travel to other areas my husband does it, he thinks it’s a novelty having grown up in NJ

I hate full service. Don't have a choice going through Oregon.
  • most of them know what they are doing
  • I hate seeing some overfill or top off the tank. Waste gas.

I have not seen a full service since the 60's. My mom use to go into the local Texaco and they'd do the oil check, window washing etc. One time they asked if she wanted Ethel and my aunt who was visiting from England said, he called you Ethel LOL I know of no one here who is adverse to pumping their own gas. I don't know if it's changed or not but when we would travel from Oklahoma to CA, we could pump first then pay until we hit Arizona. Starting with AZ, you had to pay first. That we have been use to in CA for years when people were pumping an running.

I thought of this thread on Monday when we were driving back from Salida, CO. This is a Sinclair gas station within Salida (same brand as the only full service place I saw in my metro area years ago):

The pump area closest to the door inside was considered FULL whereas the rest of the pumps were considered SELF. First time I had seen it split like that (everywhere else I have visited is all self-serving)
