Full hook up site with tents

Will two tents only work at a full hook up site? I had a tent site but then the days I really wanted opened up but only on a full hook up site. We only have two tents. Will that work?

Tell the reservationist what you need. I'd say you can put 2 tents on a FHU site.

Depends on the size of your tents. I have a fairly large tent, I think 18 wide X 17 with the canopy and a 12 x 12 ez-up. We have stayed in full twice now, I believe.
The first time we put our tent up so the side of the tent was facing the parking area of the site, and then the ez-up in front of the canopy. We had to hang the tent off the back of the pad because it was going to set on the pavement if we didn't, and that worked fine.
The second time, our most recent trip, we set it up so the door was facing the parking area and put the ez-up in front of the canopy. We where overhanging the pad on both sides of the pad about 1 foot and the tent was all the way to the back of the pad. The ez-up was sitting on the pavement near the car.

I think you can make 2 tents work depending on there size.

Thanks RustyScupper. Is there something you'd recommend I do to try to help get a site large enough for 2 tents? I am not sure of the actual dimensions but I don't think they are super huge or anything. I can find out if I need to call ahead and speak to someone.

Speaking generally in the Tent site category the tent sand/coquina pads are bigger in loop 2000 than in 1500 (the other Tent loop) and even the Full loops 1600-1900.

Little bit of backstory: loops 1500-1900 (mix of current Tent and Full sites) were added to the Fort a short time after the first 6 or 7 loops opened in 1971. At the time they were added, they were all the same so today the basic difference is 1500/Tent doesn't have sewer and the the other 4 loops do. But GENERALLY speaking, tent pads are similarly sized in those five loops.

Loop 2000 (and other loops on that side of the Fort) were added in the 1977 and 1978 timeframe. They learned/improved on the previous addition and thus their tent sites are GENERALLY speaking larger than 1500-1900. Loop 2100 was part of that at the time but was later converted to cabins and then in 2015-2016 converted BACK to RV/Tent sites but with generally smaller pads. 2100 is now classsed as a Full but with really small tent pads. It wouldn't be a good fit for you.

Be forewarned that loop 2000 feels a little bit further away from the Core area of the Fort. Although it has 2 Comfort Stations for nearly 70 campsites and its own internal bus stop, it can feel crowded at times.

If I were you, I would ask for a 2000 site right near the entrance of the loop (starting at 2001, 2002, etc and the highest numbers 2067, 2068, etc.) since both are near the entrance and a Comfort Station meaning a shorter walk to most areas (the bus stop at cabin loop 2200 is really close). Or get a site in 2000 on the outside of the circle with numbers around 2034 or higher (which is near the 2nd Comfort station in the loop). Those outside sites back up to the group campsite Creekside Meadows and you can walk off the back of your site and skim Creekside Meadows and cross a bridge across a ditch that will put you in loop 900 (Premium) which is across from the Meadow TP.

TLDR version (Too Long Didn't Read):

For the biggest tent pad to accomodate two tents, loop 2000 is the go-to. Full loops have a plus in their favor on location but you can offset that by being in either of the two locations in 2000 that I stated.

But isn't 2000 a tent loop? I have full hook up booked as it was the only thing available so will 2000 be out for us? I have stayed there and in 1500 also and am fine with either but didn't know if the full hookup ressie would stick us elsewhere?

I was operating on the assumption that you still had the Tent campsite. I note the "had" and not "have" verb tense. If you swapped to a Full, my suggestion would be to check in as soon as possible the day you arrive and let the Cast Member checking you in what the tent sizes are/what pad size you need. The earlier in the day you arrive, the greater your options are. If everybody else has checked in already that day, there is little else left for you.

Since you have been to the Fort before, you have an idea of what is possible. Not knowing the size of your two tents, it's hard for me to give better advice.

1) Whe you check-in at The Outpost, ask the Front Desk CM.
2) They can do a check to look for the larger sites, and which might be available.
3) Unfortunately, you cannot reserve one ahead of time.
4) It is whatever is available at the time you check-in.
5) And, remember, the earlier you check-in (anytime after 6:05am) the better chance at getting a site you like.
