I was wondering what everyones experience has been with requesting full balconys at the Beach Club. Are there more rooms with full than with out?? Also if you did not request one did you get one anyway?? We would really like one but don't want to seem like nagging guests. Thanks:wave: Oh one last thing would you change your ressie to the Yacht Club just for the Balcony or do you think its not that important??

I don't know the actual percentage of balconies to non-balconies at BC, but looking at the exterior of the building, my guess is there are more rooms without balconies. We had no experience at either resort and selected YC to eliminate the balcony question, as I needed to be fairly close to the elevators due to an injured leg. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at YC in August, 2003.

If a balcony is a primary consideration for enjoying your holiday, it would make sense to select YC. You most likely have other considerations, so it depends on your needs.

This site has a link to a diagram for BC & YC so you can see what rooms have full, partial or no balcony. Plus it gives you the room numbers. Click on resorts and then BC or YC and scroll to the bottom.

thans for that link it helped us to find a layout of the rooms at beach club to maybe request a certain room

Just back from the BC; did not have a full balcony, just a stand-in one. We were out there for about 15 minutes for the 8 days/7 nights. Not a very big deal.

For our June 2004 visit, we faxed a list of requests (a full balcony being one of them) and got it. We really enjoyed sitting on the balcony in teh mornings and watching the squirrels. ducks, and rabbits in the grassy area.

if it is very important to you to have a full balcony, then yes I would switch to the yacht club. I had the luck of staying at both hotels last month, and we ended up with a standing balcony at the BC and of course, a full balcony at the YC. I am a person who loves my balcony. I like to sit on it whenever I am in the room. I was really disappointed at the BC. The standing balcony is extremely small. I must say, I liked the decor of the BC better, but I will pick the YC in the future, because I want my balcony. It is one of the big perks of staying in a deluxe for me.

Just a quick word of advice, you will have a much better chance at getting what you want (i.e. - a balcony) if you request to have a balcony rather than to request a specific room#. If someone else is already in that one particular room when you check in, they won't be able to accommodate you. Whereas they will have much more of a selection to accommodate you if you are just looking for a balcony. Same holds true for if you're looking for a particular location (this is speaking of requests for any of the WDW resorts) -- better to request "near a bus stop" or "near a pool" than room #XYZ that you know is near the bus stop or pool. We've stayed at the BC several time and requested a "balcony".
every time.

We got a dormer balcony once. The next time we requested a full balcony and ended up with sliding doors, a small patio with a chair and table on the ground floor-too much traffic for my liking.

So to answer your question, yes we have always asked and the only time we had a true full balcony was when we stayed at YC.

Hulabird, thanks for posting the link, it helped me identify the great room we had at the Beach Club.

When we stayed at the Beach Club, we were given corner room #3691, which has a standing balcony overlooking SAB, PLUS it has an extra long side balcony overlooking the rear entrance of the BC.

The room has two queens, plus an extra large sitting area. I think it has extra square footage because of it being a corner room.

I might consider requesting one of these rooms that sit on a corner. (FYI, when we went, we booked a standard view room and didn't think to request anything special... it was all pure luck).
