ok, someone talk to me about these fuel rods. Ive never needed extra charge in my phone before. I am planning to bring my own power bank, but maybe the fuel rods are better?? I'm confussed

The thing about FuelRod is you buy in once and then you get free swaps after (only at Disney if you are a new owner, you have to be grandfathered to get them everywhere). They are lipstick chargers so they don’t have that much of a charge such as for a newer iPhone you’re maybe going to get 30 to 40% battery increase, but they are lightweight and you can easily get a new one. It’s easier to carry around compared to a larger one.

I think the one in Frontierland has been removed unless it was added back. I didn’t see it in the shop a few weeks ago.

Not surprised that Disney wouldn't have updated that yet in the app if it is removed

I can't check until end of the year when I'm next back. But if someone doesn't check before me, I'll make a mental note to see how accurate the map still is when I'm there next.

Part of the draw with the Fuel Rods is the increased phone usage. Before, it was MaxPass, soon Genie+. So, if your phone is running low, you just trade out your FR and give your phone a charge. Then when the FR runs out, you just trade it in for a fresh one. No worry about charging the power bank overnight because you just exchange it at a kiosk instead. Initially I balked at the price (and bought off-site), but I've gotten my money's worth IMO with the easy exchanges. Also, the initial kit contains multiple charging cords, which I appreciated when I went from a micro-USB to a USB-S charger. It comes in a little carrier to keep the cord and FR together when you're not using it.

You can charge them at home, too, as you would a regular power bank.

There’s also one by the Pooh Bear store (don’t remember the name). I personally thought the FuelRods were worthless. I think it charged my phone 15-20%, and my friend charged her phone about the same (using my FuelRod). There are just so many better battery packs out there. Just my opinion, but I actually threw mine away when we got home. I did keep the extra cords that came with it at least😆 I mean I guess it did the job and got me a bit of a charge to get to the end of the night but I don’t plan on ever using them again.

We have a fuel rod and I like that it can just live in my Disney bag - no need to remember to take it out at home, charge it, and put it back in - so I don’t have to worry about accidentally forgetting it or anything. It’s also tiny and lightweight.

It’s definitely not the strongest charger (it juices my iPhone 11 about 40% if I’m using it while it’s charging), but the convenience makes it worthwhile for me.

Frontierland was there, just not in the pin shop like I was used to. It was in the mercantile. Used it twice last week!
