I read on a board, not sure if it was ivillage or Yahoo, that due to the FTP that the crowds will be at a record HIGH for September!!!

Is this true? We changed our dates from October (during the PGA tour) to September to avoid a HUGE increase. I know that Disney is crowded all the time, but wondered if the rumors were true??

When did the FTP start? Has anyone noticed an increase due to the FTP alone???

We did the FTP in the beginning of July, and found the crowds to be the same as every year. We go every July and everything to us was the same including the heat and humidity.

We've been at the Boardwalk since last Monday, July 28. Crowds were non-existent until Friday and began to pick up. Have been pretty heavy all weekend.

ok.. I know this may sound silly... but WHAT DOES FTP stand for?!?! I have been wondering for such a long time!

it's a package where you get 7 nights for the price of 4, includes Unlimited Park Hoppers (so it's not worth it for AP Holders). It runs from 7/4/03 to 11/20/03 but they only took reservations through the end of June.

I am planning to be there 10/1 to 10/6 and am waiting for AP rates. Practically every resort I tried on disney.com has rooms for this period (except YC/BC probably due to a convention), so I don't think they are selling out.

I would go to disney.com, under reservations, book a room and see how many resorts have rooms for your dates to give you an idea. I suspect there will be plenty. September is not a popular time to travel with kids just starting school.

For Disney to be truly crowded (like it used to be in the summer) the Disney resorts are NOT your best guide. Your best guide is the combination of the Disney hotels and all the OTHER hotels in the area. Back in the late 90's these places were running much closer to full then they are now.
