*FTD* flowers ~ advice?

Haven't sent flowers via FTD in awhile (usually go to the florist directly)

But I need to send them via FTD today and nervous about what they'll actually deliver!! This isn't someone I know too well, IOW not a best friend where I wouldn't care about the price! But I do need to send something..... so...

It seems the prices have gone up since I sent that way.

Do I need to spend $80-$100 to get something decent, respectable? IOW, the items for $45-$50 are likely quite small, right?

You say that you usually go directly to the florist - I do too. Is there a reason you can't just search for a florist local to where you are sending and call and speak with them directly? When I do that they usually tell me what they have available in their stock that they can get out on short notice.

I agree with RitaE, just call a florist that is local to the delivery area. I do not know anyone who has had a successful "FTD" delivery.

I picked a BEAUTIFUL sunflower bouquet for my Mom once from an online flower selling website (maybe 1800 flowers). She got a dog made out of carnations.

I agree with looking for a local florist and trying to order over the phone (or maybe see if one of the local florists has a website).

I did finally find a local florist. It took awhile because when you type in the "city and florist", it still takes you to the FTD type places, ugh. Especially because this is a tiny little town.

I ordered a beautiful planter for $60 and am fairly confident in the florist. Here's hoping LOL

Something I found out the hard way. After delivery of the flowers, contact the recipient and ask if the flowers are OK. If the recipient can send you a picture, great. If the flowers are not as described to you, contact the florist and have them make it good.

Forgot to add--after one bad experience with FTD, I never use them, and I always contact the recipient to check on the flowers. I've never had a problem since dropping FTD, but I always check the quality of the flowers with the recipient.
