We will be staying in a cabin for 1 night in July before checking into BWV. DGS loved the Chip and Dale campfire last year so we want to do it again. What time is the campfire? movie? How late are the Settlement and Meadow Trading Posts open till? We are planning to get the fried chicken for supper at Trails End to go. Are there outside tables to sit at? Are there ice machines anywhere in the campground? Is it the Meadow recreation area that has the pool and spray area? Also is there a place to buy snacks/ hotdogs near the pool? This is our first time staying here. TIA
Paticake, you've got some good answers already and I will add on.
The campfire is lit at 7:30pm, the singalong starts at 8pm with visit from C&D, and the movie usually starts at 8:40 or 8:45. I was there in March on back to back weekends. Before DST the singalong started at 7pm, after DST it started at 8pm. So the time does change when DST changes. The Chuckwagon/snack station behind the bleacher seats (looks like a covered wagon) sells a S'more kit (some marshmellows, chocolate, graham crackers) and cheap wooden sticks to make some yummies. They also sell full bags of marshmellows in the Meadow Trading Post so you can buy some sticks at the wagon and do it that way too.
Others are correct the Trading Posts are open until 10 pm (open at 8 am).
The Giddyup and Go (GAG) chicken dinner (10 piece) is $24 from Trails End takeout. you get a choice of bread (biscuits or cornbread-sweet) and two sides (slaw, fries, mashed spuds, or mach/cheese). It easily feeds our family of 5. If your group is smaller you can buy the Lone Rider (2 pieces with sides) for $8 which would probably serve just one person. So get one per person. Drinks are available but they cost extra.
There are tables on the porch of Pioneer Hall/Trails End on the side facing the playground and beach/marina area. They also give you plates, napkins, plastic forks, etc, salt/pepper what you need they have there. Just ask.
Ice is sold at the Trading Posts and at every comfort station/bathhouse in the trailer/tent loops a coin operated machine sells ice ($2 in quarters).
The Meadow area does have the big pool/slide and kids spray area. It does have a snack bar and here is the menu:

The only bad thing the snack bar has limited hours. When we were there early this month (April 2011) it was open only 11am-5pm.
Since you'll have kids with you be sure to see the activities sheet given to you when you check in. You'll be there for only a day but each day they list 2-3 activities for the mid-day and afternoon for kids of various ages. One activity might be a supervised game of flag football. Another might be bingo (low cost) or a craft activity. If you have the time and a good match on an activity it might be fun for the kiddos to do those.
Have a blast. You'll want to come back to the Fort once you stay there.
