In one week we will be on our way to Fort Wilderness.
We are driving from New Mexico with a popup (no A/C). I think if we drove straight to Orlando it would take us 4 days. But of course we have to do some sightseeing along the way. My DH is a golfer so we also have to schedule a few golf days also.
It is going to take us 11 days to get to Orlando. We are going as far south as Key Largo. We want to snorkel and see the Everglades (but not at the same time ;))
We will be at the Fort May 2-11. We will probably be in the 2000 loop as I didn't request a loop and don't really care anyway. We'll let those with favorites have a chance.
After our stay we are going to St Augustine to watch The Players Tournament (to make DH happy and willing to do Disney :)) Then as quickly back home as possible. This trip is going to be 26 days long. (BTW DH is retired)
That's our preliminary plans. Now anyone want to take bets how well we survive this trip? :teacher:

Just a little more info:
We have driven to Orlando before. Nine years ago we went in a minivan and a tent in June. Although we camped along the way we actually stayed at AKL while in Orlando. We don't remember having any problems with the heat. But then again we are 9 years older (memory is the first to go).
We had this trip planned hoping the weather wasn't too hot and the gas prices would not start their summertime price increase. So now the temps are already in the 90s and world events have shot gas prices up. Hence my "or bust" in my tile.

We'll see you there. Be there 4/29-5/6. Hope to be in loop 100 .Just look for the RV pictured on my post. Has Ma. plates.

We'll be there in early May, too, in a rented RV this time instead of a tent. Have a great drive!

Sounds like ya'll gotta way cool vacation planned, :thumbsup2
But I gotta tell ya, I don't think your hubby will catch too many fish on the golf course, :confused3

Hey, we're going to there at almost the same time as you. May 2-12! We're going to try and be in the 300(?) loop as we have a dog and are in a prefered site. We're driving down from near Kansas City and we're leaving the 29th or 30th. We're driving a motor home, so we're going to take it nice & slow and easy and try to get somewhat better gas milage. Yeh, right! We're also thinking of making a stop in Savannah Ga. I know it's not exactly on the way, but I have a friend who loves the city, so, we'll see. Or, maybe St. Augustine.

How exciting to know there will be DISers there. It seems Halloween and Christmas are the most popular times.

Born 2 Fish - I don't think DH has the patience. I used to fish but only for trout. I don't think I remember how to attach the hook anymore. :guilty:

Just drove AZ to WDW, we are at Animal Kingdom having a great time.We used A/C along the way.If I needed to drive it without A/C I have cooling vests but might also pick-up cool mats.

If you you have made a Mickey lamp or something around the same skill level and can sew a cooling vest can be made.

It's like ride'n a bike as a kid,it'll all come back to you when ya do it again many years later. I do love me some Trout fish'n.
I spose I can see why, if I hava love to dangle a little shiny sharp piece of metal with a hunka meat on it in front of a few brain dead ichthyoid , I can understand your husbands love to chase after a tiny ball beat'n it with a club all over a beautiflly manacured lawn.

Ya'll are gonna have such a awesome time at Disney !
I have a little pixie Dust left over from our last trip,,
I'll share some with ya'll,,pixiedust:

when i read the title i thought the same thing. i have always wanted to write disney or bust on the mh on the way down. but, have always been afraid of the "or bust". so, i always avoid that saying.

it sounds like a great trip and you will have plenty of pics for the tr you will be sharing with us. :)

have fun!:thumbsup2

We are packed, trailer hitched up and ready to go! Leaving at 5 am. We always leave at 5 am on the first day of our driving trips.
We've gone over the popup and reattached anything that looks loose. Of course we always find something to fix. So the "bust" I'm refering to is our budget. :upsidedow

Good luck. Wave as you go through Alabama on I-10.

Will do, in fact we are stopping in Mobile on the way back. (Cheating - staying in a motel). Will do a lot of waving then. ;)

We had a great time at AK villas. We are at a rental home now that insurance rented for us while we wait for our RV.

Safe travels.
