Ft. Walton/Destin Hotel help

Need some help in finding a nice hotel in the Ft. Walton/Destin area. Any advice would be great. We are planning a trip in June for a few days. Want to be on the beach and would like a great pool. Any ideas?

Have you looked into renting a condo? We haven't been to Destin yet, but we reserved a 2 bedroom condo, walking distance to the beach, and cheaper than it would be for 2 hotel rooms. I couldn't find anything reasonable compared to what I found for the condo. Check out vrbo.com

We went to Destin / Fort Walton Beach last year and rented a condo in the "Destin West Beach and Bay" resort. It was extremely nice and they had a couple of great pools, including one with a lazy river. We rented ours through an individual owner found on VRBO, but I think they also have a Web site where you could rent directly from on-property management.

We usually stay at a friend's condo in Destin, but this year there are more of "us" going (17 ) and we won't fit. So, we started looking and the week we are going (1st full week of Aug) is so high, so we're headed to PCB!

Live in Al. and are 4 hours from that area. Grew up on the AL. gulf coast so I'm very familiar with the area. I would def. get a condo. Sterling Shores is right on the beach and has 1,2,and 3 bedroom condo's. They have a pool right on the beach area and also a huge lagoon style pool with a zero entry level for the kids with one of those big mushrooms. Very convient to restaurants, water park, and go karts ect. I think the website is www.sterling shores.com. If you want to stay out a little further past destin in Seagrove beach there are some nice condos called the Dunes of seagrove beach. This is a great area as well. Have fun! Add ur favorite seafood restaurant is Louisiana Lanyape (SP?) Excellent fresh seafood and many different choices.

Thanks for all your replies. It will be only two of us going to Destin for about 4-5 days. I wasn't sure if I could get a 1-bedroom condo for less than a week. Will checkout the web sites and see what is available.

We have never been to Destin before and appreciate any information you could share. We will be going in June. Thanks Connie

We go to Okaloosa Island every other year (Fort Walton) and we always stay @ Gulf Dunes. We rented from someone on VRBO and we love it there. The beaches are not as crowded and it is very conveinent to everything. We saw two weddings on the beach the last trip! I think I still have the information on the condo we stayed at, if you want their name/web address just pm me. Just be sure when you do decide where you are staying that it says "Ocean front". Alot of times you have to cross a road to get to the beach or something like that. Gulf Dunes is right on the beach....and that is the only way to go!

2 bedroom/2 bath with bunkroom fully furnished with 5000 deeded beach access. Fabulous views and awesome pools. Sandestin area. Great price, cheaper than hotel room. We have the property on vrbo. I don't have the reference number but I will forward to you tomorrow.
