Member Services called and said one of the places that I wanted with my interval international points was matched. This was really my "second" choice location. But, they told me if I accepted my other searches would be thrown out no matter if they became open. Why??? I would have enough points for both places. (one is for June to California, the other to Florida in July) I just don't understand why I can't do this if I have enough points. :sad2:

Are you wanting two exchanges or only one? If you want a single exchange, your choice is to accept the one presently available or pass to wait for your first choice. They will not allow you to accept one and later change it (without another exchange fee).

If you want two exchanges, then you should be able to accept this one and still keep your search open for another of your choices.

Good luck! :)

I could be wrong but my understanding based on the Vacation Planner is that you only get one match with each $75 exchange fee. I think your search was setup for either one or the other. If you wanted two matches then you need to setup two separate searches each with the associated $75 exchange fee.

I really want an exchange in San Diego first and foremost where I would also stay at DL. If that didn't work, I would exchange out at a place in Sarasota Florida.(where my extended family would be) I wouldn't mind paying another $75 fee for a search, and I would be willing to accept the opening for July in Florida with the understanding that I might cancel at least 60 days out (which is without penalty)if California opened up but DVC said I couldn't do that. I still really don't know why??

If I understand what you are asking is to get the first unit (second choice) then keep looking for your first choice instead. The answer is a flat no. And no reason to be upset with II or DVC, it's your understanding of the system that seems at fault to me. What you could do is one of several options. You could start a second search (not keep the first one going) for just the resort you want. They may insist on 3 choices to list but there are easy ways around this. The other thing you could do is attempt to retrade. Not a very successful option for most situations but can work well when you're short notice or for lower demand areas/times. Here's how it would work. You would call DVC and ask them to check online to see if what you want is there. If it is, you simply swap out and pay an extra fee. Though similar to your idea, it is doable, unlike your first thought.

Remember if you match a second request with a second search, you're still stuck for the first one and now you'd be out both sets of points and both $75 fees.

There's a penalty if you cancel.
Here's what I found on the Member website........

However, once deposited, Disney Vacation Club Resort accommodations cannot be withdrawn.

Cancellation Policy:
60 or more days before arrival date:
You may request exchange accommodations, but travel must occur within one year of cancellation date and an additional non-refundable $75 exchange fee must be paid.
