There are hardly any Oct. UY contracts or they are higher point contracts than we want to add on and soooo many stripped contracts.

We're OCT as well, and they are definitely fewer and farther between. Hang in there!

I commented on another thread of yours, but I'll say it again......We're right there with you. It is so frustrating. Now it's going to be us against each other!!

Why?? We are October use year as well and I have noticed this also. Why is there such few October use year resales??

I have ONLY just started looking at resales really....so I don't have anything to compare it to. Having said that.....there are few and far between Oct. UY contracts....compared to what else is out there. The ones I see are STRIPPED big time or have mega points.

Mostly because DVC did not distribute points at resorts evenly across the UY's and Oct ranks 7 out of 8 UY's in points allocated to it! Some resorts are better than others but in total there's fewer Oct UY points compared to others.

Here's a link to a DVC News article showing the distributions:

Maybe you can use the fact that the contract is stripped to negotiate a much lower price per point? And you'd be guaranteed not to pay MF's til 2012 or even later.

I've read from other DVC owners that a good time to buy loaded contracts is December through February when folks want to unload before paying their MFs.

Also, the resale company [not Fidelity] I used worked closely with Fidelity, which seems to have the most listings. It seems that, despite listings on websites, the brokerages have access to many more than we see. Perhaps you could contact that particular company and ask for them to start searching for you?

I'm saying all of this because I have a February use year -- no competition :D

We're in the same boat. I figure it saves us money because it's hard to find a good add on!:rotfl:We keep looking. There have been a few good ones, but they go quickly. Keep your eyes out. They do come along, but they are few and far between.

Yes! I too am an April and started looking 6 MONTHs ago and just finally found one that fit. My criteria was same UY, BWV, 70-100 points, NTE $55 pp and current years points. Bank points would've been a bonus.

Just a few weeks ago I finally found one that fit all of the criteria...(except no banked points)....but the owners paid 75% of the 2011 MF, which I thought I would be paying since those would be my points.

So stay strong and when the right resort comes along, jump on it, because they go fast. I know, I missed one because I dragged my feet on it. But was later happy to find out that a disboard member got it! And he alerted me to the one I ended up buying....small world.

Make sure you get signed up for DVC listings. Fidelity updates on Fridays. I ended up going through Fidelity. This was my first resale as all of my other contracts were direct.

I know it's hard to stay patient. The right contract will come along for you. :wizard:We purchased resale earlier this year, and know what it's like.

Wow! Looking at the use year distributions makes me glad mine is February.:woohoo:

Thanks...that was interesting to see. :)

That is, would seem fewer "OCT" owners are out there though as well to compete against maybe?

Yep and now you take us off the list. LOL My husband could not resist a 100 point contract at VWL with a Sept. UY. I am hoping since it is Sept. and our main contract is Oct. we can handle the point shuffling. Of course Disney might buy these up and we will be right back at square one. Time will tell.

I wonder if there are others, like DH and I, who seek out Oct. use year because it is the perfect use year for those who don't want to travel June through Sep. when it is so hot at WDW.

We went with Oct. because at the time we would go in Nov. and Jan. However we have made a few summer trips and so far so good with nothing coming up to prevent us from losing points or having them go in holding.
