I am having a dickens of a time trying to find decent airfar out of Greensboro, NC to Orlando. I have seen flights in the past for as little as $150 round trip on Independence Air (but they won't book more than 5 months out and my trip is October). Currently the airfare on Delta (the optimal departure times, at 5:45 am and arrive at 7:05am)) is $287.40! I looked up on all the discount sights and that same flight is over $300 now! If I fudge with the departure time a bit (leave on a 6am flight with a layover in Atlanta and arrive at 9:44) the price drops a bit to $246.10. Still quite a bit.

So do I wait another couple of weeks and see if Delta's price drops...of course prices COULD go up or the flight could get booked :guilty: . If I fly Independence air for a BIG savings (only $150 round trip) the flight is routed through Washington DC!! Instead of a pleasant 1 1/2 hour flight, it becomes a 4 hour excursion and doesn't arrive in Orlando until after 1030am.

Do I just book the 6am flight with Delta with the layover in Atlanta for $246.10?

Help!

Personally I would wait.....

It could be that because it's 6 months or so out that the airlines haven't done too much discounting yet, so I would be apt to check from time to time. Also, you can signup with most airlines to have them alert you to current fares for some of your favorite places. So usually when I'm thinking of booking a flight I sign up with American to alert me on fares out of Boston and Providence so I can keep an eye on things.

If Delta is your choice, presumably because it's non-stop, see if they offer some kind of email alert for you, and wait a little bit to see what happens.

Buying tickets is always a gamble. I just bought my July tickets a couple of weeks ago. I am WAITING for Independence to released September dates, so you have at least a month more to wait then I do for the October dates. I need to buy 9 tickets for September. I wam flying Independence this week for my first time, so hopefully all will go OK with this new airline. BTW: Your layover is at Dulles, not in Washington DC....Dulles is in Virginia. We leave out of Dulles for all of our trips. Good Luck in whatever you choose.
