I just found out that for our Dec split stay the room only i have booked for the 3 days before out package I can't book FP for till we arrive in WDW.... Because there is not ticket linked to the room reservations so that whole you can get your package tickets early is a bit of a disadvantage if FP are important ....

Have you called them and asked if you can link the park tickets to both reservations?

You could try calling to ask but you can still activate your tickets early once you arrive & make fp+ ressies. We've done this twice without issue & always got whatever we wanted.

You can always rebook your 2nd stay as room-only and purchase your tickets separately. You'll then be able to book FPs for all of the days you plan to be in a park.

Packaged tickets, which is what you have, are not active in the MDE system until your check-in date. You do have to wait to activate them once you reach WDW.

Do you have passes for the days of the room only? Or are those non park days? If you have tickets you just need to link them. through "my disney experience"

This is how it's supposed to work. It does take a bit if planning but you can get around it by contacting Disney and working it out. It'll work out for you.

I believe you will be able to book those first 3 days when your package 60 days open up as you get the whole 60 days and the tickets will show valid at that time but not before.

You can all IT and ask if they can help you out as they can sometimes force the system.

Surely this isn't true. It would put anyone who booked a package at a serious disadvantage.

It is true. "Packaged guests" with their package on their #2 reservation, cannot book FP for their 1st stay and do have to wait to activate their tickets.

It's because tickets that are purchased in a "package" are not active until check-in day. The MDE FP system recognizes the "package" and allows the 60-day booking window to open even though the tickets are inactive.

Anyone who is contemplating a split stay should purchase separate tickets and book room-only if pre-selecting FPs is a priority.

Yes this is what I was told today when I inquired more not only are we shut out of the 60 day booking we are not even able to do the 30 day like off property guest cause our tickets aren't "active" with the per stay room only reservation ...

Very frustrating wish I had this into when I was doing the split stay... yes we can activate out tickets when we get there but not till then can we access FP+

Note to self for next time.

Are you able to book fast passes for the second part of your trip at 60 days out?

We are doing a split stay in 3 weeks and we were told this specifically since I already had the package booked and our fp+ booked. I was so scared they would lose my fp+ and told them that when i called. With that being said. They made it all work and linked my tickets to my room only for the first 6 days and then just made the package I had a basic package. Long story short we are doing 6 days room only(had to purchase tickets separately) and 3 nights in a basic package. It was a 2 hour phone call but they made it work! I figured the worst they would say is no. Right? And they said yes. :)

We were told we can't move the tickets because the second part of the trip is with Free Dinning package moving the tickets changes the package....

When any changes are made to tickets or onsite stays, pre-booked FPs remain in your MDE account for at least 1.5 days. This ensures you won't lose them as the transition to new plans (tickets or rooms) takes place.

That's good they worked with you to separate your tickets from your package!:)

You cant move the tickets but you can activate them early when you arrive. I would book the hard to get fp+ selections for the second half of your trip but truthfully many options are available even a few days out other than anna & elsa.

By a basic package I assume you mean a ticketless package?

Yes we can book for the second part of the trip at 60 day mark.

This exact situation happened to me when I added 2 days to the beginning of our trip, after I booked a week's stay. You're not alone in your frustration!
