Frustrated with myself!!

I am so frustrated today. I have been watching and waiting to find the best price for a Nikon D3100 camera to buy for my DD for a combined Christmas/graduation gift this year. I figured the price would probably go down the closer it got to Christmas. Well... the price on the camera went up $100 from yesterday to today. I have checked all of the BF ads and there is nothing there. I could kick myself for not purchasing this camera before now.

Thanks for letting me vent. I guess sometimes waiting it out is not the best thing to do. Wondering how likely it will be for the price to drop again.

Thanks. I guess I didn't realize that the price I was seeing was a sale, because it had been that price for a while. I just figured I would wait and see if I could do better and if not, that is the price I would pay. Ughhh!!

Is there a Costco in your area? I was just there this morning and the D3100 was the same price that I'd paid for it back in July. Around $800, but it comes with the camera body, kit lens, additional telephoto lens, nice bag and 2 dvds with tips on how to use the camera. I also think costco sells this camera online?

We just bought a Canon t3i in September and the price is up $100 also. I guess the sale prices are unnecessary over the holidays. Ouch!

Could it be that they put the "regular" price now so that closer to Christmas they can go back down and call it a sale?

I put stuff on my Amazon cart all the time just to watch the prices - it tells you if there was a price change since the last time I checked. I have seen prices change (for a specific item) all the time including more than once a day!

I know you said you were looking for the 3100 but bj's is having the 5100 on a good buy on black friday comes with the body both the 18-55 and 55-200 a bag and dvd for $849 hth

FYI Unless things have changed in the past year, you don't have to be a Costco member to order things online from them. Also, my daughter has one and works for Sam's Club. She is always joking about how the price of those goes up and down like the stock market!

Right with you. I was watching the Canon T3i and it went up $150. Why? So now I am going to make a desperate attempt to get one at Best buy online or Walmart on BF. I sure hope you can get the camera at a reasonable cost.

Op I feel your pain!! I've had my eye on the nikon d3100 or the canon t2i for almost a month now. I want one for my Christmas present!

I'm glad on jumped on a deal when I saw it and got a Canon Rebel XS with lens & camera bag for $274.99 for DD for Christmas. It's a refurb, but looks brand new. Now they are $399! It doesn't have quite as many bells & whistles as the newer ones, but it's perfect for a budding photographer.

I wish everyone good luck finding one for a good price!

Don't expect cameras to go on sale for Christmas. Its going to take at least six months for camera companies to regain their capacity.

Well I jump on a camera today! I was at Best Buy and decided to take a look at their cameras. I bought a Canon T3 for 488.99 (they price matched their online price) and the extra lens 55-250mm. Regular price was 279.99 but when you buy it with a camera they give you a 150.00 off, so the lens came out to 129.99). I spent a total of 670.00 with taxes! I'm happy with it. I know it's a beginners camera and doesn't have ALL the bells and whistles but it will work for me right now.
