Frustrated - Vons.com!

I'm so frustrated right now. I could swear I read on the boards that the GCH bell services would sign for our Vons.com grocery order even if there was alchohol included. Well, they didn't, and now I have to wait until tomorrow to have the grocerys delivered and we have to figure out something for dinner tonight. And, I can't sit around for 4 hours waiting, so I had to call Vons.com to figure out what to do (the website wouldn't let me modify the order because it shows it already went out for delivery). The Bell Desk is going to have to sign for the grocery portion and reject the alchohol portion, have the driver return it and credit it back to our account. Who knows if this will all work out, I just hope we get our food delivered or we are out of luck!

I know I should have called Vons directly, my error for not double checking. Oh well, lession learned!

On a good note, we have the best room in the hotel! A beautiful 1BR Villa overlooking Paradise Pier! Love it! I need to go sit out on the balcony to improve my mood...

You did read that. I was surprized to see the original post about the alcohol being signed for. Enjoy the 1 bedroom and report back, we will be there in August.

I wonder if the GCH policy changed. Last December bell services signed for our order which included beer and wine.

I guess I better delete the beer from our order for our early May trip.

Awwww no that's horrible. My mother who is legally blind lived just a few blocks down from Disneyland for a year and the rest of us lived in Canada. I used to always use Vons to order her groceries online. It's a shame! their services are normally so good. Hope you were able to figure something out :sad2:
 

Must be a policy change, we've done vons 3 times and had beer delivered each time (DLH 2x, GCH 1x)! Sorry for the inconvenience!!!!
 
I have had all kinds of problems with Vons.com up in my area of L.A. over the years, though I am forced to use their service. But in the case of what happened with the OP's delivery, I am wondering if this was Vons' fault or the fault of the GCH. My very first thought was that it sounded more as if the GCH didn't want to sign for it, in which case it wouldn't be Vons' fault. I'm not sure on this one. Was it the GCH that changed their signing policy or was it Vons who didn't want to leave liquor with someone other than the person who ordered the groceries?
 
Sounds like Disney changed their policy about signing for it, it doesn't sound like Vons changed anything on their side.

I'm surprised Disney ever allowed any of their employees to sign for alcohol before, quite frankly. I suspect there are quite a few sections of California law that would come into play in this and could cause some problems.

I agree - it sounds like a GCH issue, not a Vons issue. I know when I order through Vons and get it delivered to the Hojo, I call ahead and let them know I did order and they sign for it (even when I get alcohol). I've never had an issue before :confused3
 
Original poster here. Yes I was frustrated with Vons but it really was more because it took me over a half hour on the phone to finally reach someone who could help me. At one point they transferred me to Canada customer service. It was the GCH policy to not sign for alchohol, and per some other posters it must be a policy change. I understand why, just a bummer. My husband did find a local liquor store that will deliver for free(not that we need it that bad, I just hate paying $6 for a beer). Anyway, I left a note with Bell Services this morning and Vons did deliver the grocery portion today, so everything worked out fine. I might have to make a few calls when I get home to ensure they credit me for the alcohol.

Anyway, we love the 1BR. Definately confirms our decision to buy DVC. Kids are napping right now and DH and I are enjoying the sound of the park in our room. Those of you who stay here will not be disappointed.

I remember it too--- something about the bell staff deciding whether or not to refrigerate the beer.....

Remember, it could be worse! You're actually at DL and we're not!

I called about a month back about grocery delivery and the bell desk told me that if there is booze that I need to be there to sign for it and prove I am over 21 - so we kinda planned on loosing that 2 hour window....;(

We are staying VGC in June...
