Frustrated, experienced DVC renter

Ruadisney fan, only the owner can do those reservation transactions with Member Services since the company is not an owner or associate on the membership.

Thanks, I had a feeling that would be the answer. I hate to complain because our first 3 experiences as renters were just awesome. All were really nice & helpful. The only time I waited a week to talk to an owner was when his wife explained that he's a math teacher and it was state testing time so he was tutoring a lot each evening. My call wasn't urgent at all so I told her to let him know whenever life returns to normal to give me a call which he did.

I still haven't received a reply from my email from last week. :(

It's too bad there's not a rating system on owners & renters like buyer & sellers on ebay. :lmao:

Hi David,
I have a question for you. If we were to rent points through your company, who handles the reservation as far as booking DME, dining plan, special requests, etc?
If it's all taken care of by the business I think it would for sure be worth paying a little more as a renter. I've been able to find low rates per point but the downside to that is being stuck in a situation like I'm in, at the mercy of the DVC owner.

I can say that when I booked through David, everything went smoothly. I gave my DME info and had no problems getting vouchers and luggage tags in the mail. I would happily use David's service again.

:thumbsup2 Thanks! I'll keep that in mind for future trips.

I was able to call DME directly myself and give them my flight info. I feel much better now. :goodvibes :cool1:

I was under the impression you could call DME directly yourself with your reservation number to arrange that. I've seen numerous other people say that here on the boards. But sorry that your Owner's priorities and yours aren't meshing. I understand your frustration.

Worst case, if it all goes to hell just grab your own bags and take them to the bus. Or give your claim tickets to the DME desk and they can get the bags (although I'd feel better doing it myself with a cruise the next day). I don't think reting a car is necessary.

You can call ME directly, though they are not suppose to book for you, they will/have before. I have done it 3 times.

not changing I feel your concerns.. I am not sure what I would do as far as cancelling or moving on it. I would have a back up plan, but you will know if it vanishes from your MDE page if it isn't there.

I just clarified this with MS about a week ago. We are flying into airport very late in the evening and staying overnight in an airport hotel.. Next morning, I was told we simply "show up" with our luggage at the kiosk for DME, they will verify the reservation and we board bus.

Hope that it works for you!:)

The members I work with (gleefully) make the requested arrangements for our guests. I do any followup that is necessary so the arrangements are trouble/worry free to all guests.

So we received our luggage tags today and I noticed something strange. At the top it lists our arrival date, then confirmation #, then beneath that but above our names, it says:
DVC HOLD -
SARATOGA SPRIN

exactly as I typed it. :confused3

Then beneath that is my name, dh/ds's/my names (different on each tag), Saratoga Springs in large font, then the barcode, then the mickey head with DD inside it which I'm assuming means it's a DTD resort, then the large barcode.

So what does the DVC HOLD part mean? In all the times I've rented we never had that on our luggage tags. Everything else seems like a typical luggage tag. Has anyone had that on their tag before? Should I call DME again?

Whew, I will be so relieved if & when we check in. :scared:

I'd love to book a room-only res as a back up but we would need to cancel within 5 days before check in. We'd still have to fly down with no plan B. :worried:

Breath ...Breath...
If you Google "Magical express luggage tags images" some of the first luggage tags that pop up are for Saratoga springs, and look exactly as you describe, even with the dvc hold part, and they are from 2008. Your trip is going to be fine. Relax a bit.

I would post a link, but the disboards seem to have a block on the site. Very odd...

Completely normal DVC Hold, no one can explain the wording.

Really, I'm not usually this neurotic about planning. I just feel like I can't trust/rely on my DVC owner now. She still hasn't replied from my email from July 4 and thankfully ds17, who has opted to not join us, hasn't changed his mind. I doubt I'd be able to have him added on even if he wanted to. :sad1:
Also I'm not accustomed to traveling with uncertainty. I normally take care of everything possible before leaving so we don't have anything go wrong during the trip.

All I can do is hope it goes as planned.

Thanks everyone! :)

So next time you book directly with Disney and forget about "renting" a reservation from a member.
