Frustrated: customer service!

I think the problem was, she waited until she was home to e-mail the info. If you want a personal apology, you should handle it in person. An e-mail just doesn't carry the same weight.
Personally, if someone said something I found offensive, I'd same something on the spot, but I'm the type where if I have something to say, I just say it.

Yep, me too.

I think the OP just wants people to tell her she's right.

Unfortunately, I cannot tell you I think you're right because I believe you are off the deep end here.

The matter has been settled. You sent a survey and wrote three letters. You got an apology. Now you're unhappy because it's not a "proper" apology (according to your definitions of what a "proper" apology should be).

I suggest if you want a "proper" apology, you either go to the store or write the store and tell them what a "proper" apology is. I'm sure they'd be happy to hand-write a note and send it to you if that will stop a situation that is apparently escalating out of control.

This sums it up for me too.

I know this isn't what you want to hear, and it might not even be a popular opinion with the rest of the posters on this thread. But "gay" didn't always mean "homosexual". And now, it's moving away from meaning "homosexual". The word is evolving.

I get that she was rude to you. But I have a feeling you're more upset about the use of the word "gay". And I honestly don't think it was used in the way you're taking it.

You can't expect a company to fill you in on private HR matters. No matter how badly you feel you were wronged, that is NOT going to happen. Unless you specifically asked for some sort of retribution, I think they handled the situation. If you were looking for something, you needed to let them know that. Otherwise, they're taking your letters and survey as an FYI.

For your own sanity, I really think you need to let this go and just enjoy the Harry Potter Lego set that your hubby bought you. I think it's a really cool gift (even if I'm not an HP fan!)

Although the cashier's use of the word "gay" indicated an ignorance that made you uncomfortable, it is not hate speech. Don't relive that moment in your mind over and over while you are assembling the intricate castle and (hopefully) Hogwart's Express. Let the negativity go and bask in the glory of Christmas.

This reminds me of...oh boy, who is that poster..who takes all the atypical threads of the year and makes them into a downright hilarious parody around the end of the year.

Someone, point me in the direction of these posts. I would love to read them!
