Frozen v All Comers

MY DW and I have noticed a lot of discussion on Frozen taking over or the amount of Frozen in the park and while there is a lot I thought it might be fun to compare Frozen to other movies. I am sure I am likely missing something so feel free to add to this list or add another movie.

Could be me, but I'm not getting what you are trying. How do you compare Maelstrom (or replacement) with Enchanted Tales? I thought they were going to keep the boat ride element. Then to me, I would compare it to Jungle Cruise, Pirates, Grand Fiesta, or maybe even Living with the Land. And as A&E do not meet for dinner, how can it be compared to Akershus or CRT? It would make more sense to compare A&E in PFH with CInderella & Rapunzel in PFH. Also how to compare Wishes with Wishes and FoF with FoF?

There are so many, to me, unsual comparisons in this list I cannot say 'B&B wins'. Can you explain a little bit more what you and DW are talking about?

I am referring to the statement that I see a lot that Frozen is taking over WDW. So this is just the number of Beauty and the Beast vs the Same number for Frozen in the parks. So for Wishes and Celebrate both appear. I counted 12 Frozen vs 14 Beauty. I am not even sure that Cinderella or Mermaid or some other movie do not appear more often.

Ah then it's just the set up that is confusing me. It's not comparing rides / shows / experiences but only counting how many dedicated Frozen things there are and how many of the other movies.

I think Frozen might still top it, as there are stores in WDW with entire sections dedicated to frozen while other princess (and their movies) are all together. Norway in Epcot has a section for Frozen merchandise and an exhibition. But France doesn't have a lot of B&B merchandise and a mini exhibition on Hunchback. Same goes for Snow White in Germany, Mulan in China etc.

Frozen has 2 magic shots, Olaf (on 2 occasions, got it in Blizzard Beach and in Epcot China...) and Elsa in the Studios.

But it is mainly how hyped Frozen is. No other princess has a sign 'can also be seen in the FoF parade' like there is outside PFH. Or Aurora being kicked out of FoF to make room for Frozen.

I had a discussion the other day with a friend what would have happened if a classic like Mermaid or B&B was released for the first time in this decade. With the same amount of marketing and promotion. Could these movies be as popular as Frozen?

One key difference is how quickly all the Fozen tie-ins have been added to the parks. A lot of the BATB additions took years, even decades to be added. The Frozen takeover was much faster, and has involved the ousting of other attractions in the parks.

Wishes vs Wishes

There's no Frozen segments of Wishes (and, come to think of it, no Beauty and the Beast, I think). So this particular case is moot.

Everything you've mentioned here on the Frozen side of things are temporary Frozen Summer Fun elements that are now gone from DHS. They ran for a couple of months over the summer and left just as quickly.

BaTB has it's own store by Gaston's Tavern, and a pretty big feature in the store outside the theater in DHS. While Frozen has its own store in DHS and the dedicated section in Norway. That part is comparable. (though other stores do have a much larger Frozen section than other princesses)

BaTB actually has a pretty decent segment in Wishes. Tale as Old As Time plays along to lower fireworks about 3 minutes in after Hercules.

They really are about equal. Frozen has just come on so fast where as BatB has grown with the parks (and is seen as a "classic") rather than overtaking them.
I personally find it important to note that even with all the Frozen stuff, most of it is seasonal where BatB is permanent.
