Frozen Turkey Prices

How much are frozen whole turkey prices in your area?

Our local grocery store has them at $.49/#.

I got a 12 lb for $6. Is that a good deal?

I haven't looked for this year yet, but that was a good price for last year. The only way to beat that was some stores would do a "buy $25 worth and a get a turkey for X cents or free" type deal. But if you don't want to mess with that, that's a good price.

That's a good price, so far the cheapest I've seen is 79 cents a pound for a store brand and 99 cents a pound for a butterball turkey. We picked up two turkeys around 20 pounds each at those prices for Thanksgiving because they won't normally go lower than that. Pretty much anything at under $1 a pound is a good deal around here, if I saw a turkey for 49 cents a pound I'd certainly get one so I think you got a good deal!

Yesterday I saw an unadvertised special for .49. I've been shopping at another store that offers free bird, harm or lasagna if you spend $300 between certain dates so I've surely getting a free one from there.

I wish I could find one for $0.49/lb around here. The cheapest I've found is $0.69/lb and that was at our Walmart supercenter. If it was $0.49, I would buy several. We've got a big freezer in our basement and I LOVE turkey.

Noticed today in Target ad it was .88/lb. I don't know if other stores have been lower as I don't buy one. Just me and dd so no turkey for us. It would go to waste.

I'm in WNY and all stores price match. No minimum purchase and the price is .38 cents a pound this year.

these are great prices, the cheapest I have found this year is .98 at Wal Mart for Jenni-O and I won't pay that much yet. I am holding out for a better price or we will be eating chicken this year!

Wow! Up here in the great white north, 99c/lb is the absolute best price I've seen and it dosn't happen too often.

I Paid $.29 a pound. The flyer said .49 but when I got there it said .29 so I grabed it. Only problem, we've never cooked a turkey so we don't really know what to do with it.

I got mine at Market Basket (I live in southern NH).

In Southern mn , haven't seen a price per lb lower than .88 so far. That was at target.

That sounds like my dad, It was a great price I just don't know what to do with it.

There's quite a few websites that will give you the basics. Just make sure it's thawed and you remove the giblets and gravy if they are inside it. Stuffing it adds about 45 minutes of cooking time.


I got a Jennie-O at Walmart (Norther Indiana) for $.68. And I couldn't wait so I cooked it today and just pulled it out of the oven. And baked the Toll House Chocolate Mint cookies with the mint/chocolate chips. Soooo good.

FYI:
The .38 cents per pound turkeys at Tops and Wegmans
do have a $25 minimum purchase.

Our Stop and Shop had them for $0.49/lb for Shady Brook Turkeys. I got a 22lb turkey for just under $11.

It will take SEVERAL DAYS to thaw out a turkey. Depending on how big it is, etc. Go to www.butterball.com. Even if it's not a Butterball, the thaw & cook times should be the same. Good luck! And be sure you remove the giblets before cooking!
