So I have been seeing a lot on how to conquer Epcot when FEA comes and frankly, I still have no idea how.

So here's the thing, we are a family that does little to no planing on our trips(we usual just let the disney winds guide us), however we haven't been to WDW in 2 years(2014-Allure of the Seas; 2015-first trip to Disneyland) and we are use to the old FP system:( (I have done research on FP+) AND we have never, NEVER done a RD in all the years we have been going to Disney (what can we say, we LOVE to sleep + my dad loves to golf early in the mornings). Epcot has some of our favorite rides: TT, MS, and Soarin' (and probably now FEA), and I remember how long 20 mintues was when waiting in line for Maelstrom:charac2:
Sorry for the long post but my family is in desperate need for some tips and STRATEGIES for Epcot.

Also, I heard that 7DMT at MK is not that exciting, but we are a family that likes to try new things BUT we love our trill rides and we don't want to waste a FP on 7D if we can use it on Space Mt, so is doing standby that bad for 7D? (quick side note; we are going at the tail end of August and usually wait times aren't that bad but they aren't that good either)

Seriously, any advice that people on here are going to give you will contradict with what you like to do. Hit 7DMT at RD to avoid using a FP. Hit FEA at RD so you can keep a FP for TT or Soarin'. ETC.

Mine train is fun, even for adults. No, it's not a major thrill ride. It's a combination of a dark ride and a kiddie coaster with a unique element in the swinging cars. If you're not sure, check out the many youtube videos of it.
Personally, I'd RD FEA, FP Soarin', single rider TT, and standby MS... but I could personally skip MS and am not sure that I NEED to ride FEA.

I think the plan is the same for everywhere. Try to get fp+ if the ride is important and then you need to decide which lines your willing to use standby for. Also if your a rope dropper, if there any long lines you can get shorter if you immediately went to them at rope drop..

The last alternative is to not take away from park time, plan to jump in line just before the they stop letting people in (it'll be closing time for popular rides). They will let you wait, ride and then leave no matter how long it takes. I've also found those lines to be listed wrong and much shorter than they really are. The big plus is the park has closed around you and 1: you get to walk out of an empty park casually enjoying some empty park photo time. 2: you didn't waste any of your park day in line as this is bonus hours after it closed while waiting.

Future world is pretty empty after 3-4pm where rope til after lunch is mostly lines everywhere.. you can get around it, just enjoy the park your way, ther eisn't that many rides at epcot so a couple with a long wait that you didn't get fp+ for isn't a huge amount of time.

Stand by for 7DMT gets very very bad. If you want to ride it without a FP, you need to be to the park before opening.

Oh, are you aware of the tiers for FP at Epcot? Odds are you won't be able to get FPs for every ride you want. You are going to need to decide on some priorities.

Just my thoughts
Skip sleeping in and golf on your Epcot day.
Arrive 30 minutes before the park opens.

Fast Pass Plus
FP+ Frozen Ever After

Rope Drop
Soarin
Test Track (Ride the single rider line)

Re: Tiering

Tier 1 - choose 1 of these
  • Soarin
  • Test Track
  • IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth
  • Living with the Land
  • Frozen Ever After
Tier 2 - choose 2 of these

  • Mission Space
  • Turtle Talk with Crush
  • Spaceship Earth
  • Character Spot
  • Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival
  • Journey into Imagination with Figment
  • The Seas with Nemo & Friends

I am thinking they may move something out of tier one to tier two once the Frozen Ever After opens.
If FEA isn't a BIG priority I'd skip it and go with FP+ Soarin,,(but I am not a Frozen fan).
Best wishes planning

The heat in Aug:drinking:
If FEA is a priority I would FP+(you do not want to be waiting for FEA for 2-3 in the heat.)

Edited to add
Mission Space has been moved to tier 2.

The wait for SDMT is much longer than Space Mountain and the Space Mountain interactive queue is enough fun to stand there for 30-45 minutes if you have to. The SDMT queue has *some* interactive aspects, but not enough.

As for EPCOT - well, Maybe an option is to plan to go there 2 days so you have 2 Tier 1 FP to work with? That way you don't have to worry about rope drop, Mission Space is a Tier 2 so you can do it either/both days. You would still be stand by for one ride (we would probably choose Soarin to ride stand by because I think the line will move the fastest and it has some interactive features and good air conditioning, we know test track doesn't have that and I expect FEA to be a longer line)

You can avoid potential longer lines if you do some loose planning at least. IMO 7DMT warrants a FP especially if you aren't rope dropping. Those lines can be long even near park close! Space waits will be shortest for you at night.

We went during a low-crowd time, and 7DMT was over a two hour wait most of the time - even up to park closing (as was PPF). We did manage to walk on (well, not really walk on - we waited about 30 minutes but at least that's not 2 hrs) during a rain storm but the coaster stopped half way through. Space Mountain had plenty of periods of low wait times. I cannot imagine being about to do 7DMT w/o a FP during a higher crowd time. Probably Space Mountain would need one, too, then. You are right. 7D is not thrilling, but it is fun.

Hit Soarin at RD, ride TT single rider and use a FP for FEA.

My kids are too young for single rider. We don't go till next summer so we have time to read reports.... but our plan right now is FP Frozen, Go to Rope Drop at Test Track and then go straight to Soarin'. We know there will be a good wait, but hopefully with the addition of the third screen it won't be too awful.

I'm wondering if Mission: Space was moved to a Tier 2? I was able to book Test Track and Mission: Space this morning for the same day.
