Oh look. It's the same argument repeated again and again with no one changing their position. Must be the internet. ;D

I think that's been acknowledged...but you keep getting people "tagging themselves in" to the fray without reading the 200,000 pros (all the same) and 500,000 cons (all the same) already written on this...

Slow news day.

Yeah, I guess I just see this as a subject where no one has anything new to say. And even if they did? Doesn't matter... the thing is almost finished so it's happening. I'm a firm believer that if you can't do anything about a thing you shouldn't waste your energy on it.

I'm happy about a Frozen ride, sad that they take the old ride out. I will miss that troll.

I commented that I'm done talking about it but I don't really believe that it's something we HAVE to shut up about. Yes, it's a done deal but so are a lot of unpleasant things and if you look around people talk about them.

Yes but I stop listening to them too.

And...the underlying problem is that we (some of us) look for Disney updates/news each day and there just isn't that much to talk about...the internet isn't perfect :)

True. There are only the same old rumors right now. We definitely need new rumors. :)

Does anyone know when Frozen will open in Epcot? I know they say "early 2016," but has there been a more specific date exposed? I have twin daughters (2yrs) that LOVE everything about Frozen and we are planning a trip end of May to Walt Disney... I'm hoping we don't miss the opening!

Everything i've saw/heard has said early May 2016, however i don't think anything is set in stone. If you really want to see this you may want to push your trip back.

We were going to go this month but with Soarin closed (my fav) and with wanting to see the new Frozen ride, we are waiting until Nov.

When the same debate keeps flaring up again and again it could be because people are dumb and enjoy wasting time ... or it could be that there is a fairly big, gnarly and unanswered question that needs to be thrashed out. Or two.

Like, if Epcot is a theme park, then what is its theme? Permanent world fair or "anything to make a make a buck and balance the crowds" ?

If the crowds are so imbalanced, why? What has been done wrong to let Epcot be neglected so much that a quick, "get some.crowds here - fast!" solution is the answer? Was the old theme no good or was it mismanaged?

That is why many people won't drop the issue. If Frozen is here then what exactly IS Epcot and what is its theme ... if any.

Sure, but we're not the people who get to answer that question. Nothing any of us do or say here is going to make one iota of difference to how Disney run Epcot. If there's an unanswered question at all, it's the timeless personal question of "is this park worth visiting for me?" Which oddly enough is the only thing to which Disney will pay any heed. Numbers drop: the park gets some attention; numbers are constant: park lumbers on in maintenance mode; numbers increase: Disney does more of all those things that people apparently really don't like about Epcot.

If Disney cared about comment boards it would have iterated quickly on the original design, especially given the loudly and more-or-less instantly negative responses on sites like this. It didn't, so we can only assume in this case, it doesn't care, and clearly it's too late for anything to change now.

tldr; I agree with Eoghann.

Who said that we think Disney is going to read these boards and take action?

Discussing topics of great interest to us but of which we have no real control is a kind of hobby or pastime, and it helps us to understand the world. It's exactly like discussing politics, religion or philosophy, except it's more like the politics of entertainment and leisure.

When the discussion goes downhill is not when people start discussing things that they have no control over - 3/4 of the news/rumors board falls in that category. When it goes downhill is when the discussion ceases to be "what's up with Disney" and starts being "what's up with these other people on the boards". It's boring and it's not what anybody comes here to read. Whereas news and opinions about things that happen at Disney is what people come here for.

Since you have no control over what other people post, and nobody is going to change one iota of their opinions of actions based on what you say, if that is one of your main criteria for whether or not a discussion is a waste of time then better give it up now and save yourself a lot of frustration!

:rotfl:

If we only considered whether Disney cared then there be far fewer threads here and elsewhere. I know that Disney doesn't care what I think but I still find the topics interesting even those that anger me such as the subject of this thread.

If these discussions were conducted in an abstract logical way that line of argument would hold a lot more weight. But when people are getting irrationally passionate on the subject, and they are then "Let it go" becomes an ironically appropriate phrase.

It's not good for your mental health people. Nor is it good for mine. Every single thread relating to the Frozen ride gets derailed into the same debate. There are other things about the ride, that might be of interest but they get swamped in the same old waffle.

Now is there a way to "ignore" threads so I can be spared any more of this?

You can ignore a poster but not a thread.

Figures. There are posters I ignore, but it's a small number. Doing that to everyone who ever posted in this thread would be silly.

I shall just have to try and exercise willpower... which means I'll probably read it again tomorrow...
