Frozen ride breakdowns

This is the first I've heard of FEA offering rider swap. I thought rider swap was for rides with height requirements so that parties containing a too-short child can ride without standing in line twice.

If word really gets out that FEA offers rider swap, I can see things getting really messy at that ride.
Agreed- I was checking out the rider switch page on the Disney website and happened to see it. I was surprised too because I just assumed it was like POTC where there was no swap available (I never went on Maelstrom so not sure if this is an accurate comparison). I had never read it on here before that and this is where I learn everything pretty much. I checked this morning- still listed there.

I'd say that's a fairly decent comparison. But the Frozen ride is aimed at young children and there is no height requirement. It just boggles my mind that Disney is offering rider swap for such a ride. I wonder what the rationale behind this is.

These constant reports of breakdowns would be even more disappointing if the ride was actually worth waiting for. :thumbsup2

Use your FP's for Soarin or TT, unless the kiddies need their Frozen fix.

I will say I liked the ride. But, it would not have been worth waiting for more than 20 minutes in my book. I guess all the hoopla is because 1) its Frozen, and 2) its new.

My Frozen loving daughter did not want to go on it again. She didn't like the drops.

Getting messy?

Sounds like the mess is already there.

We were able to ride it last summer. It was okay. Though the old ride wasn't any kind of tier 1, we had a nostalgic feeling for it.

It is too bad WDW didn't think Frozen was worthy of building a whole new attraction.

In my opinion, it isn't worth giving up a tier 1 FP in it's current state.

I would add that the animatronics are fantastic.

I really liked it. Maybe not so much for a 60+ wait. But really glad that we could get on it!

we had a fast pass that we used to ride and broke down so our fast pass turned into a anytime fastness for any ride we were just waiting in line and the cm announced that if we did not want to want to go the front of the line and the sm would help but because we did not use our fast pass in the app it went into a anytime fast pass for any attraction plus we got a paper fast pass also for any attraction so we went and met anna and elsa by the time we got done with that the ride was running we used the paper fastness for frozen and used the original for soarin that was pretty fun

So... if breakdowns are the norm, on this brand new ride, what the heck did they do wrong, and maybe it's time to shut it down for awhile and fix it? I'm sorry, this is completely unacceptable. A ride this new shouldn't have this many problems. But when you look at RoL, maybe that's becoming the new norm for Disney? Rushing through to push things out before they're ready? Then dealing with the failures?
old ride system all it is is a overlay of the old ride i am confused to why it breaks down so much if they use the same ride setup at the maelstrom same ride vehicles and same track

We all thought the animations were fantastic on this ride. The first Olaf was fabulous. Overall, much better than the 7DMT or Ariel rides... those were horribly underwhelming and forgettable. We had to wait probably about an hour to get on the ride... it was the last ride of the last night of our trip. Happy that we got to go on it, and that it didn't breakdown while we were in line; our daughter would have been crushed!

Someone on this board commented after FEA opened that the old Maelstrom ride wasn't the most reliable. But, it was offset because Maelstrom wasn't a very popluar attraction like Frozen is.

A hugely popular ride overlaid on an older ride that wasn't the most reliable isn't necessarily the best recipe for success.

We were lucky enough to RD FEA in October without any breakdowns. DD (our Frozen fan) was scared of the dark and Marshmallow so I didn't get to see parts of the ride as I was trying to soothe her. So my friend and I FP'd FEA 12/3 late in the evening and it was shut down so we used our make up FP on TT. In March, I'll probably stick with splitting FPs between Soarin and TT and using YDS for RS one last trip.

We had a FP for it on Sunday Dec. 4th. We walked towards it right when our FP window opened (I think it was around 12:30 pm) and there were cast members standing in the front of the entrance to the Norway area, informing everyone that FEA was down. I asked about our FP and they assured me that it would automatically be good for the rest of the day. We went back about an hour or so later when it was up and running and rode it no problem. One thing that was HILARIOUS was during the part where Olaf is by himself and dancing around (halfway through the ride), his eyes were rolling wildly like a slot machine. My girls laughed sooooo hard at this and even though I think it was a glitch (I would assume it was LOL), it made us laughs for days after. :rotfl2:
