Frozen/Norway question

I was listening to the first part of the second segment. And it was mentioned that Norway wasn't happy with the Frozen changes to its pavilion. But my understanding is that Norway has pretty much ignored the pavilion for years. At that point doesn't Disney have the right to come in and either change it up thematically or they could swap in another country? And yes I know Ariendelle isn't real.

I was under this impression also.

Disney has ownership of the pavilions directly and tries to get the individual countries represented to sponsor them in some way for example tourism Canad funded part of the new film in Canada when they were getting complaints from Canadians. That being said Norway hasn't had a sponsor for a while and there are rules about governments sponsoring things like pavilions if they have them at worlds fairs.

True. I have a problem with it. Fictional land being plunked down in the middle of WS and in the middle of countries that do exist. We can argue until the end of time how realistic portrayals they are but in the end that is my problem.

Question... Has it been announced that they're actually completely removing Norway and replacing it with Arendelle?
I was under the impression that although a Frozen ride is taking over Maelstrom and there will be a meet and greet, that the rest of Norway will remain Norway?

The Stave Church has housed a Frozen display for quite some time (assuming it is still there).

I am waiting to see what the Imagineers do with this before I cast judgement. It could be a really Norway based attraction with Anna and Elsa just acting as hosts...if it is truly an Arendel ride I will be somewhat disappointed...

I'd be fine with characters integrated into a show about Norway, which is why I have no problem with the ride in Mexico. Nothing I've read suggests that that is what will be happening though.

Is it not based on Hans Christian Anderson's Danish tale 'The Snow Queen'?

Either that, or the life story of a New Jersey woman who grew up in Peru. http://blog.wdwinfo.com/2015/02/19/federal-court-dismisses-lawsuit-alleging-frozen-is-my-life-story/ :duck:

Last week, I happened to be on a Food Tour with a delightful young couple from Northern Norway. I asked them if this was as much of a controversy in Norway as it is in Florida. They hadn't heard of it. At all.

Ha!

That would have been my guess.

As far as I know (it's been a long time since I last read the story), Anderson's Snow Queen was Norwegian. I think that's why Disney used Norway as the inspiration for Arendelle.
