Frozen - no fastpasses now?

I apologize if this was already posted and I completely missed it!

Casey from Disneyland Prep posted today that Frozen is now stand-by only and recommended arriving 1-1.5 hours in advance to try for seats. This is our first DL trip and while I'd love to see it, I'm not sure it's worth "wasting" that much time (esp since the hours are shorter while we're there). We don't have kids... just 2 adults. I know Aladdin was stand-by for most of it's run - did you have to arrive that far in advance to gain entry, too?

Have y'all heard the stand-by change as well? Any strategies you'd recommend? Would you wait?

Yes, I heard the rumor that they were stopping them as of yesterday, and it seems to be the case. I think this will eliminate one unnecessary step, which is good. Plus now people can pick the show they want to see without having to keep coming back to check which show they are distributing for.

References to Frozen FastPasses have been removed from the Disney official website.

There is "rumors" that it might be offered on extremely busy days, but as for day to day, it has just become too much hassle and created too many complaints from folks who got one, and found ut they still had to wait in line for about an hour before the show.

Ugh. I am going next week and wanted to get a fp for the show. I wonder how soon before show you have to line up and do you line up for certain sections or is it just one big line? If I remember right, Aladdin was just a big line and then a free for all for seats.

We were there on Saturday and they only had one show at 11:30 for some reason. So be aware that they may not have all the planned shows!

This pretty much guarantees that we will not be seeing Frozen during our trip. I wasn't too keen on wasting park time to see the show (I don't get to DLR very often), but now...

I'm confused why people think this is a bad thing. You had to wait just as long when there were fastpasses, but then you had the added step of actually having to go and get the fastpasses and hope they were for the show you wanted. This is just eliminating the extra step.

That's good; you have a few weeks to hear reports from others about how long the waits are and how it's all working.

I'd wait and see. I think this is a good thing, overall. There may be a bit of a rush for locals who didn't want to bother with FP who show up now, but overall, it seems easier to see it now.

I like the idea of not needing to have a FP to see Frozen. Makes it easier to fit in seeing the show for those interested.

I agree that its a good thing overall as I dont love the idea of having to stand in line forever just to get the pass and then again to see the show. It will be interesting to see how the waits/ lines pan out over the next few weeks.
My son loves frozen but not sure that he or my 15mo can handle waiting in line for an hour or more to get seats. Thats also a lot of valuable time. Guess we'll just see how it goes.

I guess maybe we were just lucky on Sunday. I went to the fast pass machine about 10:00AM and walked right up to the machines and got tickets for the 1:35 show in the orchestra section. We waited no more than 15 minutes to get into the show and were 2nd row dead center. Fast pass worked great for us!

We were there yesterday and I can confirm that both shows were stand by only. I went by the theatre about 9:15 to pick
up fastpasses to be told that each show was stand by only. At that time they weren't even sure if the shows would be offered that day due to technical issues. We were told to return about an hour before the scheduled show to see if it would be offered.

We returned about 3:10 for the 4:00 pm show and got in line in the mezzanine section as the orchestra que was already full. The queuing area was not an overly pleasant experience as cast members kept asking folks to move forward and fill in all available spaces. The doors were opened at 4:50 and we were able to get a second row mezzanine level seat stage right. The show was full although I don't know how many if any were turned away.

The show ended up not starting until 4:15 due to technical issues and was stopped once about 2/3rds through for about 10 minutes due to additional issues.

Overall, we really enjoyed the show and thought it was well done. Having said that, no one in our party is really interested in seeing it again primarily because of the "cattle call" and extended period standing waiting to get in the theatre. if they begin allowing folks in the theatre earlier it might alleviate some of these issues.

Well, this news makes me happy! As I posted on another thread, I will be there this Sunday and would like to try and see the 4pm show. My morning will be in DL so I would not have been able to pull a FP. I don't like the thought of getting in line an hour before the show though. It'll just be me so maybe I'll push it to 45min prior. I don't really mind where I sit. I'll report back and let everyone know how it goes!

Saw Frozen on Tuesday. Scheduled for 5:50. Arrived at 5:05 or so, and had my choice of orchestra (1st floor) or mezzanine (2nd floor). And there were PLENTY of GREAT seats when I got into the theater (I was the second group of orchestra level). I actually got a first row center seat on the upper orchestra level without really trying much.

The lady I talked to said to arrive about an hour early, but, clearly, at 45 minutes ahead, I don't feel like I missed out on a "best seat" by being there so "late". Heck, I was really quite impressed!
