We all love them but I just wanted everyone to know most of these smilies and images are not DIS and there fore each of them count as ONE pic in your sig.

So if you have your own pic and say 3 of these others you are NOT within guidelines.

Please adjust your sigs to adhere to DIS board sig guidelines.

Examples:

I've been frosted

sorry to be a scrooge.


* You may have up to 12 lines of text in your signature. This includes blank lines and lines with smilies.

* You may have up to 3 graphic images, including sparkly signatures and countdowns. Each image can be no more than 200 pixels tall and 550 pixels wide.

* The file size of all of your graphics added together must be not more than 50K.

It is even worse on some other boards! I spend a lot of time on the DIS, but most all of the time is on other boards and I must say...after glancing here a few times, this board isn't nearly as bad as I have seen it!

As much as they are breaking the rules...they are also SO annoying to see in signatures. Not one or two, that doesn't bother me mind you...but when I see 5-7 all over the signature...THAT'S annoying lol.

I have seen:

HOOed
ELFed
Frosted
Dusted
Blessed
Gobbled
Decorated
Snowed

and a few others I am forgetting.

I have seen some signatures containing all of those and it's getting ridiculous!! lol. Now, I am every bit as festive as the next person...but there comes a point of overkill lol.

I think it is just as well to type, "I have been...(whatever it is)" rather than displaying a picture with every one...or just put your favorite one in your signature. Just because you get the pm doesn't mean you are now forced to put it in your signature lol.

Heh, sorry, I just think this intitally cute idea became too much over time. It was very cute when BOOed started...but when there are 5 items for one season going around...that is too much lol. Maybe just ONE for the Christmas season is necessary lol. I don't know lol.
