Front Seat on the Monorail

I am so excited. Since we will be there so long this June, I hope to ride several times in the front of the monorail. What a great experience not only for the kids but the adults too!

UKPhil....unless they've changed this just this year anyone can ride up front. Depending on how busy it is you may have to wait a little while...and if the CM was right in explaining to us about the specific colors for the monorail resorts, you may have to give those guests priority, but generally, anyone can ride up there.

Passengers up front is at the driver's discretion AND they don't permit passengers during inclement (lightning) weather. Guess being in the nose poses a greater risk to the guest.

We'll be in the 5 guest boat this summer--guess one of us will have to sit it out so our son, daughter, and nephew can have a whirl. We do this at least once every trip and love it from TTC to EPCOT or vice versa!

As it was explained to me, the monorail colors are assigned to a resort randomly each day as they are put online. One day the Contemporary might be red, the next day green.

If you are riding in the front and arrive at the Contemporary on the monorail assigned to the Contemporary that day, and there are people waiting, whether or not they are guests of the Contemporary, then you need to give up the front for them.

If you catch the Contemporary monorail at the Contemporary, for example, and ride up front, you can stay on for the full loop.

Monorails come by frequently enough so that there's usually not a very long wait. We ride up front at least a couple of times every trip (there are 5 of us too, so one parent sits out on each ride), and yes, riding through the Lights of Winter in Epcot is a highlight.

My kids talk more about getting to ride up front during our last trip than finding the paintbrushes on TSI ( which was MY favorite "secret" thing to do.
