Here is the text of the email I sent to DVC. Let's see what happens.
Cora

Hello,
My family and I just returned from a stay at Universal and our home, Boardwalk. Having stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel and experiencing the Front of the Line Access at the parks, my husband and I thought that this would be a wonderful perk for DVC members.

The ability to not have to go to the FastPass kiosk and only having to flash your room key that states "DVC Member" would be an incredibly, wonderful thing. I can't imagine this incurring any additional costs to WDW or DVC. The only thing necessary would be that the Cast Member at the FastPass Return line would need to check each guest’s key for the DVC notation. At Universal it really took no additional time. The employee at the Express line just checked our checkout date to make sure we were entitled. Also, it gives you the advantage of not having to wait the 2 hours or use your FastPass to get another. Considering the amount of money that we have pre-paid to come to WDW on what is at least an annual basis, I think this should be seriously considered.

I have posted this on several DVC bulletin boards and DVC newsgroups and it has been received enthusiastically. A number of people actually said they would take this over a discounted pass program.

I hope that you take this suggestion and consider it seriously.

Please feel free to contact me, should you have any questions.

Sincerely,

While this may work for Universal, I think it would be a large insult to the other on site guests. The way in which Disney handles the perqs for onsite guests is very nice, to start with a "class system" (I really feel that Universal's method is an insult and an "in your face" statement that if you had stayed at our resorts we would treat you better than joe blow who chose to stay elsewhere) would certainly go against the Disney mentality of everyone is welcome here.

Gail,
I don't agree. You could then make the same argument for Disney's offering Annual Passport discounts that are much better than the regular discounts. Also, an argument could be made to discontinue E Nights and Early Morning Openings as these only apply to those on-site.

I just felt that as DVC members we've made a very large commitment to Disney and this type of perk would be nice. I liken it more to a type of Frequent Traveler program. Those who are there more get a little more, just like the airlines. I don't begrudge those that have premier status because they fly more and I don't. I understand this is something that comes with the territory.

Just my opinion.

The good thing about Disney FastPass is that it's implemented in a way that's fair to all park guests.

Also, it's a sophisticated system that allocates access to the Fast Pass line based on capacity. That's why the length of time until the return time varies by attraction, time of day, a how busy the park is that day.

Sure, I'd love to be able to enter every FastPass attraction without a FastPass just because I'm a DVC member. But it wouldn't be fair to other park guests. And it would break the FastPass system.

I see no reason why DVC members should have such the priviledge. And neither should guests of Deluxe Disney resorts, or people with American Express cards, or people on Walt Disney Travel package plans, or anyone else.

This is a win win situation for DVC members and Disney.
DVC sales are brisk anyway but think of the few fence sitters who would be pushed over to make the purchase of DVC. This wouldn't cut into Disneys cash flow like a discount on passes would.
We, as DVC members get a nice perk.
As for alienating other on site guests... Membership should have it's privileges. We made a substantial investment in Disney. We showed our good faith in Disney (at least for the next 41 years). This would be a nice way for Disney to say "Thanks". We already get discounts for Meals, Disney Quest, Mini Golf, Boat Rentals, etc. If you feel that you may be alienating anyone, I guess you can choose not to take part in any discount programs or any perks they offer.
As for showing your card... I think they should make a software ajustment to fastpass and perhaps DVC members could get fastpass times that are for as soon as you get it.
This way no one would even know you were a DVC member. You would just go on with your fast pass just like everyone else.
