Have any of you had to have your front loading washer repaired? I am trying to get an idea of how much this is going to cost me :-(. My mom was washing a blanket by itself and wasn't paying attention to the washer and it had balled up and gotten off balance so much that the washer had walked forward about 5 inches and moved to the side about 8 inches until it started hitting the wall which is when she noticed the noise. I have the dryer stacked on top of the washer so I can only imagine how violently it must have been shaking to move both of the machines that far, I don't know for the life of me how it took her so long to notice :confused3. Anyway...the door gasket is ruined and the washer drum itself is visibly lower than it should be just so i am assuming that it has broken something off inside the washer. Our's is a LG direct drive motor washer. I was just wondering what has gone wrong with other peoples washers and what it has cost to get it fixed so I won't have such a shock when I get the price for mine :headache:

We have a HE front load washing machine. Ours is a Kenmore. After about a year it began stopping a few minutes into the cycle. We had the repair men out numerous times, and each time it would start doing the same thing - sometimes as soon as I started a load when they walked out the door!! :confused3

Apparently when we had a minor thunder storm roll through the area, the washing machine sustained some "minor" damage. It affected the electrical panel, which was causing our problems. After 6 or 7 service calls, they finally replaced the panel. We have not had any more problems since then.

We were fortunate in that we took out the "insurance", which covered all of the repairs. Most of the time the repair men would give me the receipt that their handheld machine printed, and it was expensive - I still have one that shows $700 - and I don't think that was for the replacement panel.

Since this happened, we now unplug the washing machine when a storm in expected or in the area.

Good luck!

This happened to mine...the strut (?) thing...looks like a shock absorber...broke clean off.

It would have been around $350 to repair. Sorry. Maybe yours will be better :wizard:

I wound up just getting a used machine from craigslist instead for $75. I didn't want to pay $350 on an eight year old machine that only cost $650 to begin with.
