QOTD - October 23

Happy Friday, Kids! Can you believe it??? We are about to start the LAST WEEK of the October challenge!!??!! What plans do you have to make this a great final week? Any obstacles looming that might get in your way? What do to have planned for fun and relaxation this weekend?

Don't forget to submit your updates sometime this weekend! I have a feeling we are going to see some more big percentages....

And finally, big congratulations to @JacknSally!!! We look forward to hearing all about the wedding and the Disneymoon when you return.:love:
I am really going to ensure I am active for 90 minutes and making healthy choices for food. I have Halloween coming up and I also tend to binge on weekends. I have lots of weekend homework, but when that's done I will probably just sleep! I was so happy this morning because I am at 195 as of 5:45 this morning.

QOTD - October 22
Brrr. Another cold and chilly morning out there. What is your favorite hot beverage?

My favorite hot beverage is definitely a homemade mocha: coffee and hot chocolate mix (preferably caramel hot chocolate). So rich and warm and delicious!

Happy Friday, Kids! Can you believe it??? We are about to start the LAST WEEK of the October challenge!!??!! What plans do you have to make this a great final week? Any obstacles looming that might get in your way? What do to have planned for fun and relaxation this weekend?

I have to work all weekend, so nothing planned as far as relaxation/fun. My obstacles also lie in my work schedule, little time between shifts leads to me stopping to buy something for lunch or breakfast, instead of bringing something from home.

I'm going to wear my new black leather jacket and black pants! This outfit makes me look nice and thin. My sweetie and I are going to a college Halloweenathon. It's where students write, direct and produce their own short Horror Films. It should be very entertaining. They work together in teams. And....u usually get to talk to them afterwards about their experiences in making the films. The young people are so full of enthusiasm! FOR MY LAST WEEK: I'm down one pound, since putting on and taking off seven.....so I'd like to come down one more pound this month. I have to be consistent this week and every week before Disney but I do have some planned treats built in. I'm making a light dessert to bring to my daughters for Pumpkin Carving on Friday. I'm having a friend over for lunch next Tuesday....salad and shrimp. I'm going to a friend's on Wednesday....caution advised...not sure what she may be serving. So the moral of the story is....."Think Before You Eat!" Everyone have a great and wonderful weekend. The Great and Powerful OZ has Spoken! (That's each and every one of us!)

Pounds Lost: 6 of 5
Goal Progress: 120%

For how crazy-busy and exhausting this week was.... I'm surprised and happy with my 1 pound loss this week. I'm going to step it up and really "go the distance" this week to lose 2 pounds. I'd love to finish off the month at 159.9!

Happy Saturday all! Not sure this day is going in the direction I intended, but at least I've been productive. I had to catch up on some WW work since I was away for so many days, so this morning was a "work" day for me. And then I intended to head to the sewing machine to work on DS's costume, but DH has asked me to help in the yard. It is grey and COLD out there today, but I could use the exercise and I know he will appreciate the help.

Served a hot lunch to my men (mostly leftovers, but still a hot meal) so I am calling myself "off the hook" for a big dinner. Told DS he could make himself a pizza and I'll pull out some frozen soup for DH and myself. Since it is the end of the month AND the end of the money AND the end of the groceries, it is totally SLIM PICKINGS around here in the kitchen.... and that makes it hard to eat healthy..... the only vegetable on hand is the large amount of red and green tomatoes DH picked before the frost earlier this week plus a few stalks of celery. There are a few apples left from our tree and a half a bag of frozen peas (had the other half with lunch today)..... so I'm going to need to get VERY creative! Oh..... that's right..... we still have some BROCCOLI in the garden! Ka-ching.... veggies for dinner! Phew!! I forgot I saw those this morning! YEAH!!:yay:

Off to get outside again!...................P

Jean Luc Picard would agree! ;)

Ah! Someone recognised it! :thumbsup2 The funny thing is that I did not like Earl Grey tea when I used to watch Star Trek originally. And I always thought Captain Picard was stupid (otherwise I thought he was wonderful!!) for ordering that horrible tea - and then a few years later I started to really love it.

QotD Friday - I have planned and shopped for all Breakfast and Lunches for next week as I am going away to an Fri - Sun Scrapbook retreat (its 40 mins from my house but I go with 3 girlfriends and we share a room - GREAT FUN) so Hubs and DS are on their own.. I'm sure they will manage.. I have a plan for my weekend food (breakfast included at the hotel - Eggs, light bread, fruit and oatmeal) Lunch is also included (sandwich platter and salad and fruits) but Dinner is on our own.. Normally we don't take a long time away from out spot so I'm sure I'll be ok.. so the retreat is a both and obstacle and fun...

Well done for being so prepared!! You are doing well! And you have a great plan for the weekend! Hope you are having great fun with your friends!

Weekly weigh-in - lost 1.6 lbs. I would not have been so happy about 1.6 loss a few years ago - but now I'm thrilled! Continuing with my WW plan and losing slowly but steadily. Loss for the month so far is 3.3 /5 pounds, so 66%.

Congratulations! Just as you say: slow and steady is the way to go! I had to learn it as well that I cannot expect overnight miracles. But then, when one looks back over a bit longer time frame, it becomes obvious how big the changes are!

Well done!! And getting lots of sleep is always good! If you sleep you cannot snack Halloween candy ;) and I find that the body needs the rest to actually work on burning away that fat.

I have to work all weekend, so nothing planned as far as relaxation/fun. My obstacles also lie in my work schedule, little time between shifts leads to me stopping to buy something for lunch or breakfast, instead of bringing something from home.

Sorry for having to work so much this weekend! Hope you get some time off during the week?

Oh..... that's right..... we still have some BROCCOLI in the garden! Ka-ching.... veggies for dinner! Phew!! I forgot I saw those this morning! YEAH!!:yay:

You are funny!! I wonder how many people can get as excited about broccoli as you!! :rotfl2:

I know that we talked a bit earlier this months about how I think WW really changed my eating habits and I had another "wow" moment for myself in that regard yesterday. I was planning my dinner and trying to work out what I could eat with the calories I had left for the day. I kind of put things together and then realized that there are no veggies in it. Since I am currently counting calories, all veggies have calories. So, in order to incorporate some veggies, I had to make my pasta portion smaller. I did not think twice whether I should do that, but just did it automatically to free up calories for the veggies. I think the zero point strategy WW has is really great to make people change their view what a "meal" really is. It definitely worked for me!

Happy Sunday everyone! I have decided to declare this Sunday to a Woohoo Sunday for me! Remember how just 10 days ago I was so down about my lacking weight loss and how I was stuck around the same weight for two weeks or so. Well, as of today I am so well past that weight that it is scary!!

My weigh in today gets me:
  • to the lowest weight I had in 2015
  • to 52% of my "until Christmas goal" from my starting point in September
  • to 26% of my end goal from my starting point in September
  • to 79% of my goal for October
  • to 98% of my combined September and October goals
  • to 8.8 pounds lost since my starting point in September and
  • to a BMI of 25.5 (only 0.5 from no longer being overweight)!!!!
I am so so excited!! I also notice how my larger jeans start feeling too lose. I hope that my the end of November those will become "emergency jeans", only to be used if all other pairs are in the wash!

I know that over the past years when I have been struggling I learned so much about how to tackle this that now that my health issues are resolved I am really moving forward! It seems that I have finally found a system that really works for me. Thanks to WW I learned what a healthy diet needs to be like and it has become part of my lifestyle. I love how using my fitbit for tracking calories, I actually get an idea of how much I can eat daily and that gives me flexibility. I actually eat quite a lot, around 1.500 to 1.700 kcal per day, but I am also pretty active and manage to maintain an average daily deficit of 700 kcal per day. For me that appears to be the right point where I eat enough to not feel deprived. I have learned how to plan treats, I have learned how to avoid disasters and since I can affect the daily deficit goal with how much I am moving, it actually inspires me to "repair" accidents with additional exercise. And finally I love this thread which gives me my daily motivation and helps to get through more difficult days!!

Thanks!!:flower:And it was delicious! We will probably get one more small picking and then it will be done for the winter.

That is SO wonderful to hear! I will go out on a limb and say that is EXACTLY what WW is trying to do.... trying to lead you in a direction to make the HEALTHIER choices!

SO MUCH good news!! The longer you stay with this healthy journey, the more you learn! People who "do" a diet for a week or a month and think "I got this! No problem.... I can stop being vigilant" that is when trouble begins! That is one reason that I still journal my food every day! I KNOW that the minute I stop being that vigilant, I could be in big trouble! LOVE to hear about your learning! It inspires me!!

Morning all! Up early for a weekend day here today because DS had a Model UN meet that he had to get to, so I got up with him to make his breakfast and make sure he was ready and out the door on time.... so I decided to start cooking my batch of tomato sauce with the last of the garden tomatoes..... it takes so long to cook that this way it will be ready to cool and put away by dinner!

Not sure what today will bring. Gotta check the bank account and see if the paycheck got deposited yet. If so then I will head to the market and the craft store (need stuff for DS's costume). If not, then I will work on the costume with what I have on hand and we will eat from the pantry and fridge another day! Either way, I'll stay busy! Raining here, so the laundry I forgot to hang out yesterday will have to go into the dryer.

TTYL.....................P

Good Morning all you happy posters! Everyone is doing so great....just so determined to eat for a healthy lifestyle! That being said...I was looking for Scottish Shortbread cookies online this morning. I remembered over the weekend that I used to buy these shortbread pinwheel cookies at the Highland games in the summer! They were to die for! So, I thought, maybe I could order them online and save them for a Christmas treat. Well...I found them. They are made by a local, small Vermont company and they don't sell there cookies until June! I think this is a message from the universe telling me...."stay off this slippery slope!" Lol! So....no shortbread cookies for me! I so look forward to hearing about everyone's weekend! I love u guys!

QOTW - October 24/25

Today's question is one that really got me thinking! Are you interesting in weighing less or in losing weight?

Just a quick check in! Things are starting to calm down here but I haven't had much time for "me-time" of any sort. I hope I'll have a bit of time to truly check in later today.

In the meantime, I'm back down to 200.8, which puts me squarely back in overweight. I'll take my card back now @courtneybeth. Thank you very much for keeping it safe! 52% for the month!!

Hey all! How goes your Sunday? I am FINALLY knee deep in making DS's Halloween costume. Why oh WHY do I make these big promises!?? And then, of course, I procrastinate! But he loves my costumes and has HUGE faith in me that they will be amazing and done on time! So the pressure is on! And of course, I totally had ONE mental picture of how this was going to go, but I checked youtube for some tutorials and I am now going in a totally different direction..... but I think overall it will be easier and faster.

Forgot to take tonight's dinner from the freezer, so I will save it for another evening (like Wednesday when I am working two jobs) and tonight will be eggs and toast.

Off to keep cutting and painting and glueing!...........................P

HELLO, Friends!! Checking in from Alabama! The DH :woohoo:and I are en route to WDW! We did NOT leave at 7am as intended... More like 4pm LOL. Which means we are looking at a 430am-ish arrival - ugh! Still intending to rope drop EPCOT on Monday, though!!! We were just so exhausted this morning that we couldn't get ourselves in gear. Unfortunately, we didn't get any extra sleep during that delay LOL. We just took our sweet time finishing our packing. Ah, well. Either way we are on our way!

Thank you everyone for the well wishes for the weekend!! Someone somewhere took pity on us - it rained all Friday night and Saturday morning, but stopped around 11am, and didn't start again until the middle of the reception. Then stopped again after a little while, which means we were able to have our ceremony and our send off outside like we wanted!! YAY!

I am working on catching up on reading during DH's driving stretches, but may not get the responses done from my phone. I am so proud of the numbers I'm seeing though, and even more proud of everyone's amazing attitudes!! Congratulations to everyone so far - lets do it up big this week!!!

Woohoo! Congratulations!!!! You look GORGEOUS and I hope you have a relaxing, romantic, magical DISNEYmoon!

Ahhh. I'm glad a new week is starting. I'm happy to have this past one over. Thank you all again so much for all he love and support. I know I didn't respond to all of the messages but I read everyone and appreciate them more than you could possibly know. :)

DH is feeling MUCH BETTER and is starting to taper down on the prednisone. He is heading back down to his parents by himself for a few days next week to try and see if he can get a better idea of what is going on with MIL. The WDW trip is going to remain shelved but I'm still toying with the idea of going down by myself for a few days in April. I've never done Disney solo and the idea scares me a bit so I need to think on it some more. And we are still scheduled for a lightning fast trip Disneyland in January.

And after seeing all of these photos, I think I need to investigate Bermuda. Gorgeous!!!

Anyone had the problem of having a top that starts off as "too snug" when you try it on the first time in your closet... and when you're ready to wear it it's actually "too big" and you've missed the window of opportunity completely?

That's me today with my sweater. I bought this super cute sweater a couple of years ago and I never got to wear it because I ballooned up too quickly. Now that I'm smaller it's too big! I still opted to wear it because it'll be the first time I've actually worn it. And the last. Ha!

Had to go to the Disney store yesterday to buy a few new shirts for Disneyland/WDW. They had some that were $15 each and they're cute! Picked up a Disgust shirt that says "Don't wanna talk about it" and an Elsa shirt; hubs got the Anger shirt that looks like he's cursing. Ready to lose these last 13 pounds so I can get clothes and keep them!

Ah that's frustrating! I found a forgotten pair of pants a few weeks ago that are decidedly too big. Not super cute ones though. It is a great problem to have though!!

Coffee.... hot with a splash of lowfat milk..... or tea.... lots of different ones (green, black, Earl Grey, English Breakfast, Chamomile) with a few drops of stevia.... and my special blend "hot beverage" (kind of a cappuccino/hot chocolate/coffee blend I make myself from a few different things).... in that order!

****************

Hi friends! Got a bit busier here yesterday than I thought I would be, so no time to pop on to catch up on the chatter.... sorry! I am definitely sending out HUGS  to a few friends.... HIGH FIVES to another few:wave: and WOOHOOs party:to others.... I saw some great scale numbers posted, some definite STRESS moments, and just all around news from a lot of you! Sorry I missed so much!

Coming up on some WEDDINGS in the next few days.... I believe we have a :bride: and a :groom: in our group, correct? Prayers going out that these next many days are filled with LOVE, PEACE, and CALMNESS! It will all come together and then you will be off to Disney for the FUN PART!!

Anyhooo..... here are just a few pictures from my Bermuda time.... it was OUTSTANDING! If you like beaches... GO TO BERMUDA! Don't waste time visiting the city of Hamilton however.... yuck. Didn't care for it at all.... but every beach we visited was GORGEOUS. The snorkeling was wonderful (parrotfish, green sea turtles, tangs, squid, octopus, corals.... SO COOL!), the people were SO FRIENDLY everywhere and the food was not QUITE as expensive as I anticipated.

Last picture of us after our last lunch with DD at her Station (Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences).

So there you go..... if you were expecting BIKINI pictures, sorry!

Working tomorrow, but I should have some weekend time to catch up here... and of course, to report in whatever number the scale will show tomorrow. Yikes!............P

I'm so glad you had such a great trip. The pictures are just beautiful!!!

Good morning everyone!

I had a crazy weigh in this morning - after weighing in at 150.2 some time yesterday (because I hadn't actually weighed to start the challenge), this morning my scale said 146.8??

Now, I've been trying to cut back a little and exercise more, but that seems weird. However, the scale was very consistent - I stepped on and off about 4 times to make sure that's what it said.

Do you think that it's accurate? It seems like a lot of weight at once to come off (though granted, I weighed yesterday after eating lunch and stuff, so there's that), but at the same time, the scale was consistent.

Basically, should I use that as my check-in for the week, or do you guys think it's an anomaly?

I say take it! The scale fluctuates all of the time and we might as well WOOHOO when it is in our favor!

AWWW big hugs to all the ladies who are having bad/stressful weeks.. sending pixie dust for easier days ahead..

Yay for @JacknSally you are in the home stretch!!

QotD Thursday - fave hot beverage is Dunkin Donuts hot Pumpkin coffee.. too bad it's like a bazillion points.. I also am a sucker for dark hot chocolate with a scoop of marshmellow fluff on top..

OH and speaking of OUT laws mine are piece of work too both on disability (both with congestive heart failure and FIL also with some nerve thing).. our state recently passed a bill about being able to carry concealed weapons without a permit and FIL went right out and got a holster and stuff for his pistol and showed up last week to go shopping with Hubs at LL BEAN and was "packing" I was sooooooo glad to not have been there - he is ridiculous .. now for MIL she is severely overweight (congestive heart failure so she uses being out of breath as a crutch to NOT do anything I mean make someone else get up and get her a drink in the livingroom room cause walking to the kitchen makes her out of breath) and hates to leave her house EVER!!! when they do leave the house FIL must drop her at the door, then park 2 feet away in the HC spot then they both get buggy CARTS.. it's soo embarrassing to be anyplace with them, However let me say this FIL can walk around Cabela's or LL BEAN for HOURS - like up to 4 and not need a buggy cart, I personally think he is just milking the system.... (my mom needed both her hips replaced and NEVER once rode in those carts) there is a surprise 60th BDAY party being thrown for her and her identical twin sister (who is much more active and love to be social) on this Sunday afternoon.. I am pretty sure that they are going to end up telling her so she'll come.. in the 7 yrs Hubs and I have been married she has only been to our mobile home 1 time .. YEP ONCE in the 4.5 yrs we have lived there.. Our first year married we spent Christmas day separate because she guilt tripped him into coming down there so FAMILY could spend it together - I was like UM I have 2 kids who are my family and they are coming for Xmas brunch like always and Hubs is now part of this family but then she hung up and was bawling and in a tizzy so his dad called him back and told him that he was going to cause his mom to have another heart attack (oh we spent Thanksgiving with them) and they could come here but I was NOT stopping MY family tradition to fit around her so we fought and had separate Christmas that year.. (we were just there on Xmas eve!!!) that was the last time that EVER happened.. I just do my own thing now, if they don't like it I'm sorry but they are not my priority my own family is (my DD & DS, Hubs and my parents/sister) HUM that was longer then I expected.. HAAAA Sorry... guess I had some pent up stuff to get off my chest..

So moral of the story is VENT anytime you need to about the OUT LAWS haaaaaa ..

They sound fun.... I'm so sorry you have to go through all of that.

Morning all! Happy Friday! Just wanted to pop on to say I'm working double jobs today, so other than maybe a break at lunchtime, I won't have any chance to pop on here today to play catch up.

Reporting in my post-vacation weight.... happy to say I am only up 2 pounds (exactly). While that is more than I wanted, it was definitely LESS than I was anticipating! Especially since the vacation was much less active than it was originally going to be (due to Mom's ankle). That being said, I will work hard to get those 2 off by the end of the month (aka, one week!!). Off to read my kindergarten plans!........P

That's a great post-vacation result. Woohoo!

Okay...no weight loss last week. But...this week down 4 pounds. It's just so weird how that works! So, I've lost all the weight from my cruise gain of seven pounds and I'm down an additional pound! Whoohoo! Here's a cruise pic to make up for last year's gigantic bathing suit picture. Much better I think?View attachment 130564

Wow wow wow. What a comparison! You look so amazing! And so happy!!

Beautiful pic, ThistleMae!

Have a great weekend, everyone! Just keep swimming!

Great job!!

Woohoo!!

You are doing so well! I love how great you are at planning ahead. And how much fun you have!!

For how crazy-busy and exhausting this week was.... I'm surprised and happy with my 1 pound loss this week. I'm going to step it up and really "go the distance" this week to lose 2 pounds. I'd love to finish off the month at 159.9!

Wooohooo!!! Crossing my fingers and toes for 159.9!

---

Amazing job!!! And that is an awesome set of numbers you are checking off!!

weigh in for 10-24. Pounds lost 7.4 out of 12 or 61.6%. I am not going to make it but I am hoping to still get 9.5 or so for October.

Woohoo!

YEAH! I knew you'd be back in no time. DANCE PARTY.

LOL. I love these guys!! I want to get up and dance with them!

Small victories to celebrate today:
  1. Took Dad out for his 64th birthday at iHop and I managed to point out a filling breakfast that didn't break my WW points. Kids meals are excellent alternatives for regular meals! I had no idea that 5 silver dollar pancakes would fill me up all day! (10 WW points, vs nearly 30 for a full-size meal)
  2. I was a naughty girl and went to Nordstrom today to try on dresses while I was shopping for a few work items to replace the stuff that's too big. Did not try on Kate Spade, as that is my goal dress and I cannot do that until I lose another 12 pounds. But I zipped up two size 8's today! Maggy London and Betsey Johnson brand dresses - very similar to Kate Spade. Insane. My goal was to be in a single-digit Kate Spade dress and I think I can do this. (I was a size 14 or 16 when I started this process!)
  3. I did find some super cute things for my Disney trip in December -- size Small's at Roxy. (long skirt and t-shirts - both size small). I tried on the jeans there too and was in a size 28, which is a size 6 equivalent, which proves that Old Navy doesn't vanity size their jeans. Insane.

While I don't see the results when I look in the mirror, I see them in the clothing.

That Kate Spade dress will be mine in no time!! :) We are fairly certain that I was ~160 in my engagement photos and 150 at my wedding -- so to know that I am close to my reference weights in photos makes this process so much easier in the home stretch.

Me too. Seemed super appropriate for Halloween - which is coming up fast.

stay off this slippery slope!"

The universe works in mysterious ways. Sometimes you just have to follow the signs.

Off to keep cutting and painting and glueing!

Good luck with the costume -- let us see how it turns out!

QOTW - October 24/25
Today's question is one that really got me thinking! Are you interesting in weighing less or in losing weight?

Wow - I never thought of it this way before. I think of it as "losing weight" - because once something is gone I feel that it shouldn't return. Like I'm finally saying "good riddance to you, sir!" and it won't come back. Where weighing less comes across as a more soft approach but may not be final.

Not sure if that makes sense.
