From ZERO to HERO - The October 2015 W.I.S.H. Challenge

I need a moment to vent!

My weight loss has suffered this month. I've felt starving all month and making very very poor choices during the weekend. So this week I was ready to kick butt and get it back into gear!

I wake up on Monday and my back is a little sore. Nothing major so I decide to go work out, clean the whole house, and basically spend my entire day off running around. Monday night I really start to feel it. Yesterday I woke up in soooo much pain. Idk what I did to myself! I went to the chiropractor who did a little back cracking and I feel somewhat better but definitely not anywhere near 100%. I can't really bend at the waist or tilt my head down. I wasn't able to work out yesterday and something tells me that I'll probably be out for the rest of the week. I'm pretty bummed because next weekend is the 5k that I signed up for and I know that the longer I'm on the couch with this back problem, the less in shape I'm going to be for this 5k. So I'm just feeling all around bummed today.

To switch gears and quit whining - I'm woohooing today because I get to wear Royals gear and jeans to work to support them in game 5! Gotta love jeans days.

@courtneybeth I am curious, too, as to why you don't want to visit HK! The one article I read about it sounded amazing, but you have done more research into it, so I'm curious what you don't like!

Apparently there's some issues with it being a small park and there's a LOT of crowding. Plus some of the food and attractions weren't greatly received.

I'm holding out for Shanghai. Looks to be like the crown jewel of the Disney Parks! :)

Happy Whoohoo Wednesday to all my new friends! Well, I don't have a whoohoo Wednesday yet...but I want to recap my weekend! Had a great time at Dead North! I screamed so much my ribs hurt! And....compared to last year (when I had trouble walking) I did really good with no knee or foot pain! The loss of weight has really helped my knees. Then....I did a former co-worker lunch. They had all my favorites for dessert. Homemade apple pie (she won for best pie at the fair), apple crisp, peanut butter cheesecake and mini cherry cheesecakes! Here's the good news....I didn't have any! I looked at it a lot and just kept saying "no, you don't need it!" Here's the not so good news: After returning home from Dead North, I was bending over to unplug a small heater I have in my bedroom and MY BACK WENT OUT! OMG! Talk about pain! I couldn't even get up from the bending position. My sweetie helped me into bed, where I writhed in agony most of the night. I went to the doc's and she wants me to have an MRI done. I had a shot of something that has helped since....but I cannot go to the gym! I am very upset about this! I wasn't even lifting anything, just bending over. So....I have to troop on....if I can't go to the gym until I have the MRI....I just can't go to the gym. I have to accept the things I cannot change and have the wisdom to know the difference. So, I'm using heat and muscle relaxers and trying to stay on track with food. I did overeat last night....the good old comfort of graham crackers with almond butter. But....I'm okay and I will get through this. I may not have a
Whoohoo Wednesday today....but I have a Whoohoo attitude in spite of the pain. Carry on Troops!

Wow! I just read your post after posting about my back. There must be something in the air! Seriously, back issues are hard to control. You just never know how to tell when you are doing too much or not enough. It is a very fuzzy line. I thought by strengthening my muscles at the gym I would be improving my back issues. Now, I bend over and wham! I guess I was pushing too hard at the gym...so back to the....do less but keep building model! I'm sorry for your pain. I know how you feel.

You guys.... It's here again!!

That's right!

It's another WOOHOO WEDNESDAY!!!!!!

So go ahead. Tell me what you woohoo.

I survived my midterm. :cool1:

How I did on it is a whole other issue. I am just hoping for the B.

@dsnyfn1022 and @ThistleMae I am so sorry for your back problems!! This seems to be the week for bad backs though! I could feel mine acting up on Monday as well!

I recommend to keep your back warm! I sat down on my sofa on Monday evening with a hot water bottle in my back and that helped a lot!! The last time I had back issues, my doctor prescribed "warming therapy" which I found a bit ridiculous - it was nothing else than just a warm pad on my back. So, hot water bottle had the same effect!

@JacknSally I really enjoyed Hercules. It is a fun film, but I would not call it great. I think it is a bit too much filled with funny jokes. In a way it even reminded me of Shrek in that way, but I think it is older than Shrek. It seemed less "Disney" than other films. But it was really enjoyable and it has a lot of fantastic music. In no way is it a bad film, but I can see why it does not have the same standing as Lion King or Beauty and the Beast.

I actually own a collection of the 20 most successful films by Disney and Pixar in Germany. It is a really nice DVD boxed set. Hercules is not on that... The ranking is determined by number of viewers, not by box office intake. The most successful film ever in Germany is actually The Junglebook.

YEAH! Casual days are the best days at work.

I'm so sorry to hear about your back problems. Maybe it's something in the weather because a few people on here felt the same thing? I wish you a speedy recovery and hope you'll be back to your old self soon!

my Whoo Hooo is that I have been sticking to my meal plan for the week so far.. Breakfast Lunch & Dinner.. I have had a few treats but they are melted into my bonus points..

That's excellent news - congrats! Everything in moderation - splurge but within reason. Keep up the great work!!!

It seemed less "Disney" than other films. But it was really enjoyable and it has a lot of fantastic music.

The animation and writing style always felt off to me in the movie, and maybe that's why it wasn't as well received. It was a good Disney film, but not great. There's something great in Lion King, Aladdin, Little Mermaid, and Beauty and the Beast - but Hercules can't hit that mark for some reason.

Your point about the animation is right. I was thinking I am so used to the computer animated stuff that that was why I thought it was a bit flat. But I think it is the style they went for to make it look like Greek decorations on antic vases and such. It is a great idea, but did not work that well. I think Pocahontas works better in that regard. There they definitely went for a different style as well, but there I find it adds to the film. I actually was surprised how much I liked Pocahontas when I finally got around to see it... But the great thing is that watching Hercules now really inspired me to catch up with my Disney movies!! Netflix actually has the Black Cauldron - supposedly the worst film Disney ever made (well, I think Chicken Little seems to be equally low regarded...). I need to watch that next!!

QOTD:

Just back home from my Woohoo of the day: I went for a run! In the dark!! With my "headlight"! Not sure how you call it. I asked my parents to get one for Christmas last year and then did not use it very much at all. I decided that this winter it will finally get a lot of use! Run went great, I managed to get a pace of less than 7 min/km. But I think part of that might be due to my GPS thinking that I ran a little bit longer than I actually did. Running through streets with 5 story houses on each side sometimes makes the GPS having trouble... Anyway, I feel great and that is all that matters!

SO HAPPY for you and your movement! Have you done anything differently in the past few days that might lead to the change in results? Sometimes pure dedication is all that it takes!

I realized that I forgot to reply to this! I actually did not really change anything. I knew that I have been doing the right things. But I also know that my body often refuses to let go of my weight. I think sometimes the fat gets burned, but at the same time more water gets stored? I was thinking today that actually the current weight is one where I often struggle for a bit. I once read that our bodies have a weight memory function. That is why we often end up gaining everything back and why maintaining is so difficult. It takes a long time to reset those memory weights. So, I think the one I am at now just needs some time to tackle. I have never been someone who loses regularly. My weight loss goes in waves. So, the only thing I am doing is not giving up! Because I can go the distance!! (Yes, I really really like this song!!)

I just read your post and I'm sorry for you pain too! It sounds like yours is worse than mine! But it's no fun regardless. I can't get comfortable sitting, standing, laying down, etc. I sleep in wonky positions so I think I hurt myself that way. So silly.

Thanks for the tip! My chiropractor told me to ice it so I did last night, every hour or so for 10 minutes. Today I'm warming it though because that's much more cozy (and doable) at work with a heating pad than using an ice pack.

Hope you feel better soon! I German we call that type of back pain "shot by a witch" - meaning that a bad witch shot you in the back to cause your pain. I think it is a very appropriate name as that is just what it feels like! Not fun!

It's another WOOHOO WEDNESDAY!!!!!!

So go ahead. Tell me what you woohoo.
Well, another pound down and it' s not Saturday yet. We had a class reward in Language Arts and my teacher made pancakes. She had whipped cream and syrup. I only ate one and with whipped cream because I wanted a little bit, but the guy that was doing the whipped cream was flirting with me ad gave me more than I wanted. Another guy tried to put his hand on my thigh in Science. School was just weird today!

Woohoo Wednesday!!!!!!

I'm starting my catch-up with my Woohoo Wednesday update because I am so excited I could scream! And yes, there was much shrieking this morning!!!

We came home a day early from the in-laws because of an excess of family drama. Sadly, that is a woohoo of its own, but more importantly, it gave me the opportunity to stand on my own scale this morning where I was given this little gift!!!

Apparently all I needed to do was eat basically nothing but cheese and bread for almost a week!!!

Not only are you in the Overweight Club, but you made it to Onederland. DANCE PARTY!

My woohoo! for the week is I received word back about a job I applied for! Very excited!

Crossing fingers for you. :jumping1:

ONE LAST WOOHOO (and it's a nervous excitement!)

Anyone get super anxious before they have to make their FP+ reservations? We make them in FOUR DAYS - looks like it opens up while I am in class.:banana::banana::banana::banana:

My classmate and his wife are coming with us, so he can sit there with me and help me out. Maybe we'll do better if he takes half and I take half - we're listed as a family so we can make reservations for the four of us. :rotfl2:

We have a schedule created and a list of things we want to do. But it's so hard to pick only three attractions and a particular park if we're hopping.

Congrats on your pace! I don't know the exact ratio of km to miles :-)laughing: my apologies!) but I figure if I can do ANYTHING exercise related in 7 minutes, it's a good day! LOL so good for you! And you are right - no matter how far you go or how fast you go, what matters is how you feel in the end!

No WooHoo for me this week ... it's been a bit of a rough one so far. But tomorrow is a new day...

Good morning, and welcome to your great, big beautiful tomorrow!! I hope today is a much better day for you!

WOW, SO fast!! That's fantastic!! Good luck to you!! :cheer2:

We have a schedule created and a list of things we want to do. But it's so hard to pick only three attractions and a particular park if we're hopping.

I was super anxious before making mine back in August - it's my first trip with FP+ and all I'd read on here was "OMG FP+ IS AWFUL AND I CAN'T GET ANYTHING GOOD EVEN AT MIDNIGHT 60 DAYS OUT AND IT'S GOING TO BE SO CROWDED AND THE LINES WILL BE SO LONG AND MY TRIP WILL BE RUINED" so I didn't know what to expect. It was totally easy and quick and in 20 minutes I had all the FP+ I had set out for for our 5 days in the parks, including several for 7DMT (though we only kept one... I don't think we'll enjoy it enough to ride it multiple times, but I definitely want to say I did it!). LOL. We're park hopping, too, and I wasn't sure how to tackle that. We finally ended up setting our FP+s for the park we'd be at in the morning, and hoping for the best in the evenings since we don't know exactly where we'll be when. The only exception to that is on Friday the 30th, MK is open late since there's no party that day, and we're planning to be there all day so we got three late FP+s for the mountain range (maybe a bad idea but our options were MK, EPCOT, or DTD - definitely not doing EPCOT on a Friday during F&W, LOL, and I figured MK and DTD would attract locals equally, so we might as well get one last night in the parks!)... I think it'll work out well. I'll let you know in a couple of weeks! :thumbsup2

@dsnyfn1022 I'm so sorry about your back pains!! I hope you're feeling better today. :goodvibes

I was hoping to come back yesterday and report that my WOOHOO was I got the job, but alas, I did not. So I spent yesterday stressing quite a bit over how will I find a job that I enjoy and that works for me and how will I do it quickly so we can stay on top of bills and not drain our savings completely... and I still don't have any of those answers! Haha. But I am going to do my absolute best not to worry about it for the next two weeks. There is too much else going on right now! I am nervous that I will spend our Disney trip going around saying "No, we can't get this, we can't do this, we need to save the money because I don't know how long it will take to find a job", but we'll tackle that when we get to it. Haha. I just keep telling myself it will turn out well in the end. Now I just have to figure out how to tell my parents that I quit my job with no prospects in sight... :rolleyes1:scared: :rotfl:
