From WDW To DL With Love - January 06, 2011

Tomorrow morning is DH's triple bypass surgery. I will be out of sorts for awhile and know I will have lots of catching up to do when I can find time to read this board. Please be thinking of us. I realize it's almost routine surgery these days, but DH and I are very close. In 25 years have only spent a few nights apart. He will be in hospital for almost a week, the most we have ever spent apart. I know I have lots of people praying and sprinkling pixie dust for us. Talk to you soon

Where should I stay precruise? I can stay at our DVC home AKV or Radison at the Port?

I would recommend WDW. We originally booked the Radisson but only becuase we thought the Dream might be there. However, the inaugural has been announced (1/26/11) and looking at the schedule for the Wonder and Magic, I don't think anything will be happening at the port. Hopefully we might see the Dream while out at sea on one of the first 2 days of the cruise.

IMO, the only advantage of the Radisson is if you live within a few hours of the port. You can drive down the night before and relax, leave your car at the hotel for free and get a free shuttle to the port. If you don't have transportation, staying at WDW is much easier.

Went to DL for awhile today..they were filming part of the Christmas Parade..DD got to see Demi Lovato and I guess Ryan Seacrest was there too...

We met up with a tour guide we had from our ABD trip this summer...she was visiting CA so we went over to see her.

I was hoping to meet up with other Dis'ers but no luck...next time!

In other news, because of the programming that I had to do for the logo page and some requests to remove some logos and replace them with new versions and delete other logos, I had to renumber the logo page.

Here's my opinion on the whole thing. I honestly think we should choose *1* logo that we like. That is the logo we should put on a t-shirt and all pick a day to wear that shirt. We actually did this twice on the last cruise. Castaway Cay was Reposition This day and then the day before LA was the "Lousy T-shirt" day. That said, I think we have about 330 days to get shirt designs settled out. On top of that, most of the current logos wouldn't work very well on shirts. I think the biggest issue with this is we expected one or two people to do something (Which is the usual) and we ended up with a super creative group.

Regarding magnets and everything else, just go out and have fun. Really. Use whatever logos you like. Heck, I'm going to put a pint of guiness (or your favorite adult beverage/shirley temple for those under 21) up for whoever gets the most magnets on their door using the designs that end up on the logo page.

I might feel up to doing a door magnet for everyone. This is what I did for people on the last PC cruise

and anyone else that feels like doing it can go use whatever logo they want.

Since you know a lot about the T-shirt design, can you tell us which, if any, of the current logos would work on a t-shirt. I'm at work so I don't have my "Repo This" T-shirt to look at but if I'm not mistaken that t-shirt was a photo of the Disney Magic? Not trying to be a pain, just trying to understand the determining factor between what can and cannot be printed on a t-shirt.

Thanks for posting the 2005 logo design, I needed that for a door magnet too. Can you post the Repo This logo also?

IMO, I don't think any of the current logos should be removed from the website. Everyone has different taste and as long as the creator is giving everyone persmission to use the logo for a door magnet, I think they should remain on the website. I would also love to keep seeing new designs whenever someone has an idea and time to work on one.

Wasn't Saturday a glorious day! We upgraded my birthday pass to a park hopper and the whole gaggle of us trounced back and forth. I finally got to ride Toy Story Mania. Had I not been traveling with an entourage, I'd have tried to meet up, but I knew that would have been a nightmare to coordinate. I went a bit insane just keeping track of my crowd.

Pretty fun weekend with all the goings on. Glad you celebrated in style I was busy running around with an entourage as well; this one was centered on one-year-old first birthday so went on his style rides. I just enjoyed being there I usually don't get to spend so much time in Fantasyland.

Tinkryansmom---sorry we never got to meet up. Did you watch the filming? I took lots of pictures of Ryan Seacrest but missed Stevie Wonder on Sunday because was in DCA all day.

Tami and Mike--I pray the surgery goes smoothly and the doctor's hands are steady and sure

I just wanted to stop in and say goodbye to you all. I hope you have a wonderful cruise! We decided it wasn't a good decision to bring a 1 year old on a 3 week vacation. Hopefully we will get the chance when he's older. Take care!

Excursions will not come out for quite some time - what I suggest is that you go on other cruise sites that do the PC cruise... take alook at thier excursions for the sameports. They should be similar if not the same for ours. Disney will use most of the same excursion companys for ours as well. It's not a perfect solution but will atleast give you an idea.

Shoretrips.com (I think that's the site) has a nice listing of excursions..
As far as shirt designs, yeah you have to watch for the Disney police, but I think Jeff was talking more about what would actually work on a shirt. Some designs just don't lend themselves to being on a shirt well. As for what does and doesn't work, Jeff would have to answer that, I have no clue. He's out of the office today so he'll have to respond tonight/ tomorrow.

Besides, I'm just a little busy catching up on laundry after our 3 week vacation and Steve and I just put in an offer for another DVC contract!

My thought about the poll is, why don't we all PM or email someone with our favorite image, since they are numbered, then we can take the top 12 (or less if there are not 12 images chosen) and then have a poll. That way all the images stay on the website in the same order they are in, and can be used by whoever wants to use them. If anyone needs my help with anything, I'd be glad to help.

Morning started out bad. The alarm didnt go off and we over slept 20 min. only 5 min late to hospital tho. Dr. wanted to start early. Told me it would be about 5 hrs. Dr came out to talk 3 1/2 hrs the surgery was done! He said DH has a very young body for his age. He is 65, but Dr was able to do a procedure normally reserved for 40 yr olds. Got to see him at 11:30 and he was still asleep with about 20 tubes and wires. Very scary looking. When he woke up he freaked about the endotrachial tube as he is very claustrophobic. Took some time to calm him down I felt so helpless. However, when I left him at 6 pm tonight, he was out of bed in a chair eating popsicles and jello. They keep telling me how amazing he is. They may let him out after 4 days instead of 5 or 6! Thank you everyone for your prayers and pixie dust. Miracles do still happen.
