:yay: WELCOME :yay: to all the new kids!

Five weeks from today, I will be heading to Disneyland with a carfull of gal pals for my birthday! :woohoo:Just a weekend turn-around trip for a Saturday at the park, and a stop at the outlet mall on Sunday. Mickey and shopping, what could be more fun? I'll even admit that this is in celebration of birthday number SIXTY! :scared1:

Can't decide where to have dinner that night (there could be a dozen of us when the California friends join in). I'm thinking Hook's Point, because I know they can do a big table, but I'd really rather stay in the park since we're only there one day. Why, oh why, isn't there a Crystal Palace equivelant at Disneyland? :confused3 And I can't ask my friends to pony up for Blue Bayou...we just had pay cuts here at work. Maybe I should blow off the idea of a birthday dinner and just enjoy the park. AH HA! We can do a breakfast at Storytellers Cafe Sunday morning instead. See...just hanging with you all in cyberspace and the ideas just start to flow....:lmao:

.

Ooh, that sounds like lots of fun! Are you going to the outlet mall in Cabazon, near Palm Springs? I love that one!!

Any body got big plans for the weekend?

No big plans here. It is going to be a relaxing weekend.......hopefully! LOL
How about you?

I am hoping to go to DL sometime next week. We have APs and we haven't been since we have been back from WDW. I'd like to see how CA is coming along.

No, but ask me that in 13 days as Steve and I will be heading to WDW for a 2 week stay followed by a flight and 1 week stay in St Thomas with Carol and Doug, pagrumpgirl!!! WOOHOO!

We'll have our computer so feel free to contact me if you have cruise info.

I really like this idea. I hope you don't mind if I threw something together for this just now. It's very basic at the moment because it's late and I'm wiped.

I love this graphic!!! It looks great! The Wonder is headed the right way! A friend of mine on the east coast would always call the west coast the "left" coast. LOL

How about breakfast over at paradise pier at lilo and stitch. I like it over there. You can do the buffet or order off the menu for a more reasonable price. Love Storytellers, however. Happy planning.

I ordered it off of Ebay - the person who makes them is user gradysmommy I used to have her email but I think I got rid of it awhile back. If you go on ebay and look up fish extender..there are several there. Hers are $30.00. Just click on one until you find the user name. She has all types of styles and will do any color scheme you want. She was really easy to work with.

Thanks Des. I've got some ideas in mind.

Um this may start a fight, but I have to say you are flat out wrong on this. If you look at a satalite image of the canal we will be mosy going in a sluthwesterly direction until we turn right to go north to Costa Rica. I just think you have it backward. If we were going to FL then you would be correct. I do not mean to ruffle feathers, but I am kinda of a stickler when it co es to geographay. You should have heard the earfull I gave the retail manager in 05 on the westbound. They had the course line for the ship on everything. Ubfortuatly the line went through Costa Rica and not Panama. Now of course when it comes to your direction, I may be wrong as I am human, but I am 99.9% sure I am right.

This is the map from the 2008 PC cruises, as posted by Disney Cruise Line. It clearly has Port Canaveral (Walt Disney World) on the right and Los Angeles (Disneyland) on the left. Sure, depending on which side of the canal you're standing on when looking at it would determine which way the ship would be "going", but all maps that I've ever seen have east on the right and west on the left. That's why I have the ships facing to the left in the graphic I made.

Fair enough - it is a matter of perspective. Perhaps adding a compass marker to the picture will help avoid the double-take?

One thing is undeniable however. We won't be going West through the canal itself. The actual direction through the canal is SouthEast. :rolleyes1

I have an idea for the cruise graphic but I need a photo of the front of the Wonder. Similar to this photo but this is the Magic, the Wonder as Steamboat Willie on the front. Would also prefer it to be more as if you were exactly in front of the ship but anything close will do. If anyone has anything close can you please post. Even if there are people in the photo I may be able to crop them out. TIA!

Hey iBounce -- have you looked at the Plaza Inn?

Locationwise it matches up to the Crystal Palace and their character breakfasts are yummy!

Another dinner option is Cafe Orleans -- and you can reserve a large table outside.

Checking in from the MouseHouse. The weather at WDW has been amazing the last few days. Blizzard Beach today was dead. Jack is quite the dare devil!
I laughed at the pages on which way the boat should face. Does it really matter? The general direction of the cruise if you are looking at a map is left to right, but through the canal you do go southeast through the canal. :rolleyes1

I was looking at her, as well for ours (I think I e-mailed her about price for two pockets). When I mentioned it to DH he said: but we had so much fun making ours last time. I looked at him and said: "We?"

Jen -- you gave me a great idea!!!

What if we created a logo that, instead of side-to-side, was a shot of the bow of the ship heading toward/facing Disneyland ... with a Mickey glove holding a mirror with a reflection of WDW?

I'm not an artist -- but if anyone wants to ... feel free to take it and run with it.

We loved breakfast at both Storytellers and Paradise Pier. And Minnie Mouse even recognized DD when we were at PP in August, from the EBPC cruise the year before. (She gave the sign, if you know what I mean.)

I checked through all my pics from cruises on the Wonder and OMG, I don't have any like you're looking for. But I found these on SmugMug. Maybe you can download one that will work for you from there.

I posted a thread on the main DCL board and someone sent me exactly what I needed....now to get to work on it. :surfweb: I hope I can actually design the image I have in my head, I don't have a lot experience at this.

I don't remember if you can ADR it, buth Cafe Orleans has a good (but small) menu, it's in the DL park, and it's reasonably priced. We had a party of 9, and they were able to accomodate us. They have the same Monte Cristo sandwich that BB has (for a lower price), and they also have Pom Frites (garlic and parmesian fried potatoes), which I love..along with salmon dishes, french onion soup, and other goodies.

If you want something more formal, the hotel resturants are usually pretty good. We recently tried Steakhouse 66 at the DLH, and it was really good (but expensive)!

Thay have lilo and Stitch character breakfast at Paradise Pier! Do you know how far in advance they accept reservations? My DD and DH would love this and it would be a great ending to this vacation. I'll have to mark my calender to make ressies.

We've only been to DL once, in 2005 after the first PC cruise. We went to both DL and CA in one day but we didn't have DD then. We haven't decided if we are going to use points to stay at GC or just stay at a hotel across the street.

Here's my thought for a tagline for the 2011 PC Repo:

From Sunshine To Gold, Bringing Home the Wonder.

Florida is the "sunshine state", California is the "golden state".

What I would like to do is do an old-style 1920s type art deco illustration to go with this, but I'd have to teach myself some techniques in order to pull it off successfully.

I do like the steamboat willy concept though, especially of the Wonder was converted to a similar style (thick ink outline, few colors, "flexible tube" stacks puffing out smoke ala steamboat, etc.") :thumbsup2

As the cruise is over a year away, perhaps we should take our time with this?

My vote for best characyer breakfast is Goofy's Kitchen at the DLH...we ALWAYS go there once per DL trip, it's part of our ritual now.

And if you have the points for a GCV stay, I'd highly recomend it...we just got back, and the CA view rooms are nothing short of magical:
