Hello everyone!
I thought I would post and say hi.
I'm RanCan's wife. I wasn't going to post here until we were able to snag a room on Monday, but then I decided we could use all the pixiedust we can get, and maybe this would help us with our chances. LOL
I'm really looking forward to getting to know everyone. Oh, and count us in on the FEs!

Hi and welcome!

I am keeping good thoughts that you will get your cabin! pixiedust:

I called Disney today, if you have a curtesy hold on a cabin - your deposit is still $300.00 pp. If you are obtaining a new booking, the deposit has gone up to $600.00 pp. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but wanted everyone to know it did indeed happen. :sad1:

That is just so wrong. They should've at least given the poor pathetic silver folks (that's me!) the 50% deposit since we're kinda getting the raw end here. Oh well, if the price is right and a good cabin is left, I'll be booking anyway.. I priced another cruiseline and while I feel the price includes so many more perks, it would just feel so wrong.

I'm a pathetic silver folk too.. I was just lucky with the IC and I know it..our family travels other cruise lines quite often and although it's not Disney, being on the West Coast, it's easier for us not to mention the price is a little easier on the eyes :lmao:

I wen on the PC in 2008 and I know I could go thru less expensive then this but this ship is sentimental to us and our honeymoon was on this ship within the first sailings of the ship. So here we are! We are very excited!

THanks for the Link, Carol.

I totally agree about getting rid of pirate night - I hate it!

Could we have that list of trip reports put into the first post so it will be easy to find, please?

Yes on the FE, please!

I am glad someone also thinks Pirate night needs to go. When I say that here on the boards, or when I say I don't think the show in Animators is really all that, people make me think I have just gone crazy.

I adore animators -- I just wish they didn't keep it so darn cold in there. :artist:

See I don't think I can remember a time in there when it was too cold. The reason why I don't think the show in there is all that is, they way it was hyped up before my first cruise. Everone was saying it was so cool to have the whole room change color and this and that. Well when I saw that really all it was, was a lighting trick, not to mention it was just the walls, and not to mention it was only really at the end of dinner, it was a huge let down and I thought what is so great about this? Ok I liked that they did play the Fantasmic music. So I thought the whole room would change, not just the walls. It was a big let down.

I'm so you felt that way -- I think I cried during the entire show. Heck, I think I cried the entire cruise. :sad1:

The walls do change, as do the large paint brushes, as do the waiters clothes.
I know they are working on updating the fiber optics .. maybe by the time we go they'll be something different.

I my five cruises the brushes never changed. Just some simple fiber optic lighting in them. The waiters were too a big let down. Going in the back and just reversing the vest. I guess you know what they say, Different strokes for different folks.

I'm totally with you on these two. We used to prefer the old Tropical Deck Party compared to Pirate Night (though it is fun to dress up for Pirate Night) and Animator's is our least favourite restaurant too. Parrot Cay is my fave :)

My goodness! I haven't been on since this morning and there were 4 new pages! Way to go! So....I'm getting the hint that we all want to do FE!? Okay, here's how we did it on our last cruise. Delivery days were assigned/picked and location lists were given out. If you have a better way, let me know.

Also, is anyone willing to volunteer to keep the lists and be in charge of the FE?

I like all three just fine. I just think all the hype over the "Show" at animators is blown way overboard.

I would be happy to be in charge of the FE list.

On our 2008 PC Cruise - we started out thinking delivery days assigned would be good but decided against it a month or so before. We ended up just asking that not everyone did everything in the first few days and it worked out great. We had stuff in our FE for the entire 2 weeks. We each recived a location map of the cabins participating and went with that. It made it easier for people because they had different days they had more time then others. Mine had themes but I always go overboard .. Ipromised my DH I wouldn't do that this time - of course that may have had more to do with we didnt fly last time :rotfl2:

Whatever the majority agrees on is fine with me..just wanted to let you know how we did it on EB 2008.

We also had on our cruise a Secret Mickey gift exchange. There was one for kids and one for adults - you could either do it as a single or a couple. We set a value between $25-40$ and asked that it be about 4-5 items including the gift where you identify yourself. We had a gathering in one of the lounges near the end of the cruise to identify ourselves.

It was a lot of fun. We filled out a small questionaire that helps our SM from favorite candy to charcaters etc..

If anyone is interested in this - I would be happy to put it together and someone else can do the FE if they would like to. Whatever works! I am a professional volunteer so just let me know.. :)

Here are a couple of our group shots:

We had a Princess night on one of the formal nights - we had tiaras and gloves (in some cases)

We had a pajama breakfast one morning..this is part of the group. Last minute thought to have a picture taken.

We're silver too and very lucky we got our request. We also honeymooned on the Disney Magic after our Disney wedding. Our stateroom this time is only a few doors down from the cabin we had then.

Here are a couple of our group shots

That looks like a lot of fun. It made such a difference on our last cruise to be involved in a meets thread, it was so nice to see people around the ship.
