Southwest is my favorite airline!!! My DD loves using the Companion Pass and going on fun girls-only weekend. It makes it easy to say yes to a weekend in Chicago for pizza -- Houston has NO deep dish pizza restaurants, so windy city via HOU-MDW rocks! Yes, my work takes me around the country -- a LOT -- and Southwest has the best schedules and prices:banana::thumbsup2

We flew another airline to Alaska last summer, not my choice but couldn't thumb a ride from Seattle to Anchorage...the seats were awful, flight attendants rude, and I paid to have my luggage damaged...yes, I did write to the company, so far no response!:eek::sad2:
A companion Pass. I am impressed. Well if any of those flights bring you to LAX at night stop by and say hi.

If anyone has the Science channel they have a show about the Panama Canal! Very interesting.

Thank you. Everytime I see that here it makes me glad that I work for such a admired company. I know we are not perfect and have flaws but still coments like that make me proud. Believe it or not even the comlaints are cool. Bad press, as they say, is better than no press.
American airline is one of my fav programes, they guys at south west are heros for the BS they take, wouldnt happen in the uk.
I should be washing & packing too, but instead I'm DISing. Off to Kauai on Monday to see some sunshine.

I also reserved a SUV from Budget for January to get to the port, that way we can stop on the way to pick up a few beverages. It's cheaper for the four of us than DCL transfers and we'll have it for the night before in case we decide to run around.
Have fun next week, we will also rent from budget, they have been perfect in the past.
This past Christmas my DH gave me Pirates of the Caribbean themed monopoly game. My family spent this cool, wet day playing monopoly, with P3 (that’s Pirates of the Caribbean 3) in the background.

We explained the rules to my 6 yo once, and it turns out he is the best capitalist in the family. He always owns the most property and has figured out the “art of the deal” intuitively, knowing that I have an unnatural affection for the ships, outside of all pure economic benefit.

He knowingly gathers them to trade me later for pieces that fill out his monopoly positions, and then he puts up docks left, right and center. Soon every roll of the dice is met by groans as we realize we will be paying him rent money.

It’s uncanny.

Katherine

Its great!!!!!!

:lovestrucI love southwest!:lovestruc

After all the positive comments on SW, I would love to try but they only go as far a DTW and that is at least 3-1/2 hours from here. We did fly out of there once and DH requested we not do that again due to the time it takes to get there. I would attempt to convince him if I could find an awesome deal and guarantee we would have no weather issues but somehow I am not sure I will see that happen. My miles sit with NW (or whatever I am supposed to call them these days) so I guess I will stay with them at this point.

Quiet weekend - other than I went to go out yesterday and the car wouldn't start. AAA hauled it away so tomorrow we will find out how painful it actually was. Not so much looking forward to that. Dinner last night at Ben's was nice and the political conversations were interesting to sit back and listen to. I raised some pretty interesting children, if I do say so myself.

Well, stay safe everyone - I hope those of you in the east get dug out before the next wave hits. The sun has been shining here since Friday.

Weclome Sarah and family. Glad to have you sailing with us. In regards to the next thread, couldn't we just call it the same and put part 2?

I thought so, just wanted to be sure as I confuse easily and I really like this group and do not want to miss any of our fun here.

Funny you say 1/23/11. I am planing on that day to either by my last day off or my first day depending on shift bids.

I agree -- we've had great cruise buddies at our dinner table and some great conversations, we are usually one of the last tables still seated after the LATE dinner seating.:grouphug:

We arranged to sit with 3 other families from our cruise meet for our Dec 09 cruise. All 4 of the families had girls 9-10 years old. All the adults got along great and so did all the girls. DD ran around with a couple of the other girls all week and we rarely saw her during the day and after dinner. We too were usually the last ones to leave the dining room. We even met up with one of the families on Castaway Cay and we even caught some of the movies and shows together. It was like we had always known them.

:thumbsup2 one of our favorite cruises our table of 8 had our family, another family of mom, dad & daughter (same age as ours), and a mother & daughter (same age as ours) -- and the same thing happened, the girls hung out at Ocean's Quest making a beeline there after dessert & the 'grown-ups' enjoyed our meal, dessert & coffee & lots of conversations!

We also had good luck at Lumiere's lunch, being seated with interesting tablemates...

:confused3 so you are saying either I'll see you or I won't??:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: we are hoping for a Friday & Saturday at DL while we are on that side of the country! I'll be there sooner if clients demand -- there is a vendor I use that is based in Santa Barbara (sigh, it's a rough life) -- and I find LAX so easy to zip into & out of!!

I am with all of you! LOVE sitting with great friends had enjoying. We have always lucked out with our tablemates although I remember being put in a larger group once and several opted out (non-DISers) but to each his own.

I didn't partake in the conversation at Ben's though, I just listened and watched. Funny how different children can come out of the same gene pool - they can be so alike at times and SO different at others (as in polar opposites). Love those boys of mine.
