From WDW to DL With Love - January 06, 2011 part 4

We would love to get together with everyone here in Central Florida sometime prior to the cruise. A trip to a WDW park would be fun. Please let me know if you have any interest. I'm thinking one of the following Saturdays:
  • Nov. 20
  • Dec. 4
  • Dec. 11

Once we decide who is interested and which Saturday will work best, we can pick a park. If admissions are an issue we can meet up at Downtown Disney or a resort. Even if you don't live in Central Florida but may be in the area, feel free to join us.

Central FL meet- We will be at WDW on the 10 and will leave sometime on the 11. If you meet at a resort or DTD let me know.

The only day that we'll be up there is December 11, but that's the All Ears/ Mousefest/ RADP weekend, so I'm not sure if we'll be able to meet up.

We can do Dec 11 also or Dec 4. Definitely not Nov 20. We will be arriving at SSR on that day for a week stay with family from out of state and it will be a very hectic day.

Izma - so glad to hear the scan was clear!!! So, so glad you are feeling better!

CC 5K - planning on doing this with my DD10 - but have not trained at all. so may just join you walkers if thats OK.

Izma - What a scary time, I'm so happy you're feeling better!

Corrina - The dresses are lovely.

I'm sure we'll make it by the Cove Cafe after dinner gatherings once in a while.

It's been a busy kid day around here. I had my 5 yr old niece and 3 yr old nephew here all day and took my niece to her soccer game. Came home and they made their countdown chains for our DL trip in Nov. Then my grandson came by to make his chain too.

Now all is quiet and I'm watching the Giants/Rangers game. Rangers should be happy now.

Looks like my DH just got called into work for some OT.

Wow, glad you are ok! Scary to have that kind of headache for that long, very scary. Glad you are doing better and your parents are coming!

Nice dresses! I dont yet know what i'm going to do about formal nights. I have 2 dresses i like but i have worn the one on the last 2 cruises and not sure i want to bring 2 anyway. how do you pack those??

someone (i cant remember to post quotes over to do this and remember names) said they were coming to Cove if not the shows - i was actually thinking that the discussion was meaning after the over 18 shows! Anyone up that late to meet?

Hello!!!

I caught up on the posts tonight....started on page 27! Got behind while we were at DVC, HHI last week. Both sons joined us for parts of the trip. They go to different colleges and had overlapping fall breaks. Very happy that they still want to travel with us! Ofcourse they really just see a free trip! :rotfl:

Sherri, Sak0526, many pages ago, you posted about RFID covers for passports. Where do you get the covers?

And there was a discussion about English that isn't English.....
What does "My lentils are minging." mean????

Sorry for repeating if these questions were answered and I just missed it while scanning the posts.

I've been excited about all of our cruises with Mickey but this one is going to be amazing!! I've never experienced such an organized, fun, planning, GROUP!!! There will be many "something for everyone" activities.

Can't wait to cruise with all of you.

Good Morning, Happy Cruisers!

Not much to report this morning, so just let me wish y'all a very pleasant Sunday!

PS. Shushhhh - did you see on the cruise line web page the "babies travel lite" option? They'll deliver diapers, etc. to your stateroom and you won't have to lug them!

Quick check-in before bed - I start work at 5am tomorrow - yuck ! Mondays are my "full-on" day, too - 7 hours at the store, then 2 hours at the school, then 2 hours at Scouts (in-between parenting !).

Halloween seems to have taken off big time here in Aus. this year, although a decent thunderstorm put a dampener on it for a lot of folk. Actually, I'm not so sure Halloween as a whole has taken off, but the trick or treaters were out in force !

Barb - I have no idea what the phrase meant, either - I should have asked Lynne at the time. (I'm trying to recall if I heard the phrase in a Young Ones episode, but nothing springs to mind).

Anyway, really must fly - I need to send off a couple of PMs, but they'll have to wait until tomorrow night.

Enjoy what's left of your weekends !

Cheers,
Sally :)

I ended up taking 4 evening gowns for the Transatlantic. Unfortunately I did end up not wearing the one I had packed for semi-formal night as one of the straps snapped when I put it one. Here is a quote on what I packed for the Transatlantic. I am pretty sure the packing list for this cruise will be similar.

I am pretty much packed. The case comes in at just shy of 18kg and I am allowed 20kg so that is fine. In the end I packed 5 pairs of gym socks, 13 pairs of underpants, 6 swimsuits, a pair of gym shorts, 5 trousers/ pants, 6 t shirts, my beloved two Tunisian dresses, 4 sun dresses, 4 evening gowns, 7 dresses for dinner, my Pirate skirt and corset, 2 Pashminas, a lace wrap for Pirate Night, my Pirate Bandana, a pair of Mary Jane Crocs, my Pirate Night shoes and a pair of Flip Flops.

I will wear my Pirate Night top, my jacket and my running shoes. The formal shoes will go in my carry on together with jewellery/ accessories, materials for the jewellery workshops I am doing, documents, Pacsafe bag, chargers, Fish Extender, trading pins and a pillow case for signing. So I am pretty happy right now.

On the Transatlantic cruise, the Geezer meet at the Cove Cafe was straight after late dinner, but from what I heard went on until quite late. I never made it as I was normally ready for my bed as soon as dinner was over. I will try on this cruise to make it at least once or twice, but with the time change I am more likely to be in with the sunrise crowd.

People came and went at the Geezers group. We only managed a couple of nights as we were so tired. Also we finished dinner so late, a couple of times the geezers had left by the time we got there.

Corinna, you are far too young to be a geezer!!! Geezers are 60+, geezers in training(GIT's) are younger, 50ish to 60, but some younger ones are needed to help the geezers get back to their cabins as they have a habit of being forgetful!!!:lmao: I am told they had official ceremonies for those who actually turned 60 on the TA cruise!!!:rotfl2:

Happy Halloween to those that observe it! pirate: :wizard:

Just a quick update.

Here is the list of cruisers who have ordered PC Certificates. If you thought you had ordered and are not on this list, I don't have your order. If you wanted to order and haven't - tonight is the last night. I will close off the order form tomorrow morning so that I can have everything ready to order in time for the cruise.

Oh boy, not sure where we fit in. we like to go to the shows for over 18 in places like Rockin Bar D and then when the ship is quiet just walk around or sit and enjoy the night! we're 57 and 58! So will there be a set geezer place for us to look and see who's left there or how will we know where to go if we dont want to go to the show or if it's after and we just want to see whos still there?

Corinna, FOUR gowns? I'm debating two!! oh dear! i do tend to underdress but look nice. I just have no where else to wear gowns so i dont have many!

I know, Barb, this seems like such an active group! I guess we'll do many Dis things and many ship things and swim a lot! :-D

We got our RFID things from work. But AAA sells them in their "store" (dont know if you need to be a member to get them), i think even Walmart has them. Skymall, if you're travelling or want to go on line and look, i think Amazon has them, the stores that sell just bags and luggage i think have them. Shouldn't be hard to find. Iam trying to remember if i saw them at Target. Ours are actually pretty much just paper with a lining. Doesnt take much to deter the amminations. dont know what the lining is though. But the stories i've heard...urgh!

Well tradition has it as Cove Cafe, 10pm ish. It all stemmed from the 2008 WBPC and a lot of joking about us oldies wanting hot chocolate and cookies and not the loud venues. Lots of funny post(at the time;)), you know how it is...about hot water bottles, slippers, walking aids, being forgetful etc.

Anyway I guess Cove Cafe is a good place where people can pop by if they want. It is just an extra, so if you prefer the bars and late night entertainment then go for that and stay young!!! The main folk who started it all off, and then kept it alive on the WBTA just finished are not on this cruise.

Here is a picture of some of us on the WBPC in 2008. Not every 'member' was there that night.

The second night, Bonita, who was in Cove Cafe then arranged for chocolate chip cookies to be there, and we all had hot chocolate. Not the norm at all - think Brandy!!!;)

Thank you for the invitation to a meet on Nov 14th. Larry and I will be in Las Vegas from the 8th through the 16th.

We just got back from EPCOT Wine & Food Festival. We ate our way around the world and now need to hit the gym to work off the wonderful food that we enjoyed.

I'm still working on my post count so that I can send PMs.

Thanks for thinking of us. We are really looking forward to the cruise.

Can the coupon be used for already booked fares?? Because that would be fabulous!

Corinna - I have 3 girls who would love to be a part of the kids jewelry workshoop! Ages 10, 11 and 13.

Really gotta do our t-shirts!

It doesn't really say on the paper I have. It does state that purchase must be made between 10/23 and 12/01. Check the full rules on the website link I gave.

As I recall, and as a Geezer I'm not sure it's correct, the meeting was every night from after late dining/show and lasted until people were tired. Some nights we closed the Cove down (boy we sure felt spunky!). Other nights we were already sitting outside so we just stayed until we were ready to go to our rooms. I made it to about four or five on the WBTA others made it less or more. There was no specific seating at the Cove, it depended on the weather and where the first people there decided to sit. You find them by looking for the lanyards until you start recognizing faces. I went to a couple of the over 18 shows and went by the Cove afterwards and there were still a few people there so I sat and visited for a few minutes before we all retired. It just worked out great to have a meeting place that you were sure to find other DISers after your evening activities.

Thank you all for your kind comments! I think I am at about 60% now and improving slowly. It was the most awful feeling. like my brain was moving inside my head. YUCK!!!!!

Funny enough, the one thing I did not get with my experience was....a headache. I learned, much to my surprise, that you can get a migraine and not have a headache. I don't get headaches normally, neither do my parents, so this is quite an unusual episode. A bottle of Tylenol would be a life time supply for me. I just thought I'd share because the whole experience was so darn weird that if anyone else has to go through it, they will have a heads up!

The jewelry making sounds fun!

I will do the CC 5k. Since my half at WDW was thwarted I feel it's a must. DD (12) wants to run with me although she has just had a high grade sprain on both her ankles (they look like someone took a baseball bat to them) and we will see if she can heal and train in time.

Alan, I did manage to read some of the thread and so enjoyed your comments from WDW.

I am now back home after a wonderful 2 week vacation to both DisneyWorld at Kidani Village and the Carnival Dream. Both were awesome! Now back to reality in less than 1 hour. It was nice while it lasted. Now to get back to reading the Disboards. Almost done with washing.:laundy: Lexi

Just changed my flight back to Orlando.I had vouchers for Delta but by time we paid for 4 bags it was almost the same as Delta and we could now get a non stop flight to Orlando. Delta cancelled their non stop. I feel much better now especially if by change we buy things and need another bag it is only $50 and not $200 like Delta wanted.

As for the old geezers- on the TA- losing and hour sleep everyday most of us felt like zombies - even the younger group- so for a while 10pm was like 2am so we all caved in early.

Some of us meet and played Wheel of Fortune where we had a lot of fun as a group. Our group never won but it was fun anyway.
