Since we already have 25 members, each member's cost will be very low (currently at $1.60 for the basic or $2.40 for the pro) and will even get lower as more people join.
Just my opinion, but I would like to go with the pro version so we could also post/share video. I know I plan on taking video of us going through the canal and would love to be able to post that for you all too...and hopefully see others.

Where is everyone finding info on Manzanillo? When I googled for info on the port about a month ago, all I found was that Manzanillo had scrapped their plans on building a cruise port, so there is still only an industrial port. Are there a few shops right by the port? If so, I'm cancelling the shopping tour. I really just want a small souvenier and then get back on the boat. Plus we get there late and have Palo ressies that night.

Re FE: I completely agree with most that everyone should do what they can afford and do not stress about it. If you only have enough money for 50 cabins, then just randomly deliver to 50 cabins. Or, just give to the kids. I'm certainly not going to be upset if I get 80 gifts instead of 100. Also, there are great cheap little gifts to be found in bulk at $1 stores or on-line places like www.orientaltrading.com.
I'm making luggage tags as FE and will deliver at least 2 to each cabin, probably one per person. My little laminator is going to get a workout. I'm doing seperate gifts for the kids. I have 2 ideas so just need to decide. One involves using my laminator again so if it's smoking by the time I get done with the luggage tags :lmao:, I'll definitely go with the other, although it is more time consuming but cute.
I'm sure there are several people that have not even decided what they are doing for FE so you could also try to start a group and share the cost.
Some group ideas are:
buttons, magnets, keychains, etc. with one of the cruise designs - you could use vistaprint.com or another custom printing company.
In 2005, someone created a trading pin. That was a purchase, not FE, but you could get a group together to do as an FE.

Good morning everyone! Back to the grind today, but, it helps with my DOD's so I guess it is good.

Car rentals - since we are going to be in Pompano Beach from 12/22-29 I needed to have a car. I about fell over last week when I looked at the prices but yesterday, they seemed to go down - alot. What I had saw when I first looked was almost $900 for a week and what I found yesterday was $362 (including fees) for the entire week. Not too bad I thought. Airport rentals seem to have more fees on them (in Fort Lauderdale anyway) but the offsite places are not open late enough so I just sucked up and booked. Most pleased with myself - and the mousesavers website too.

Thanks for posting the pics from the DL meet yesterday - lots of smiling faces. And jeans and some jackets?? If it is that cool now, what is it going to be like when we arrive in January??? Well, I went and looked and found thata there is a 0% change of it being over 90 (that is good as that is a bit hot) as well as a 0% chance of it being below 32 (another good thing) and 75% change it being over 60. So, beats me what the other 25% is for but I guess it will work out just fine. I am sure it will be well below freezing when I get back to Michigan.

Lynne - sorry to hear about your cousin and hope he is back to normal quickly. and pixiedust:

Have a great day!

Will someone please repost the information on the possibilites for the Northern California meet so I can put it up on the first page?

Happy Day, All!

NORTHERN CALIFORNIA PRE-CRUISE MEETING
Plans are crystallizing for a Northern California (all are welcome) pre-cruise meeting to introduce ourselves.

We need you to let us know your preference regarding the date,
• Saturday, 11-13-10 or
• Sunday, 11-14-10.

Also, your choice of the meeting’s location. Three suggestions are:
• Disney Family Museum in San Francisco
• Cuesta Park in Mountain View.
• Napa Valley winery tour

Do you have another idea or would you like to suggest a location or meeting activities?

Let me know your ideas by next Wednesday 10-27. At that time we will share the tally and vote on a location.

Very lost trying to figure out how to order shirts. Looking to get the voted logo design & the one with captain Mickey (love da bling). Can someone talk me through this, I've read what was written and am still not getting it.

Have you saved Brooklyn's large design to your pictures file? When in Vistaprints, select which style shirt you want. When it asks you to upload designs click on browse, look through your pictures and click on the design. It will show up on the shirt. You can move it around, put it on the front or back, etc. You can also customize the design. Scroll down and you will see the swirly border I put on mine. Click on whatever design modification you like. Click complete/finish. If you want other shirts start over.

On another note, when should we ship a box to the warehouse? I am concerned what with the holidays and all. Normally I would guess a couple of weeks, but would a month be more appropriate? Thanks for your help

Almost forgot!!! Go to couponcabin.com or google vistaprints coupons. In couponcabin.com they have a 50% off coupon for vistaprints. My 2 shirts cost a total of $16. Otherwise ladies shirt is $14,men's is less

I have a PC, Windows 7. I created my designs in MS Word 2007. Thanks in advance for any help/advice you can give, I spent so much time making the designs I hope I can get them into a jpg to upload!
Okay, for those technogeeks out there who may split a gut laughing at my advice, keep in mind that I learn everything on the computer by trial and error, so there may be another way but my ways work for me therefore I use them...
Here are the options that I know of (they are in order of increasing complexity):
1. Email the word doc to me and I will take a "picture" of it on my Mac and send it back (misnmik@gmail.com).
2. In Windows '07 ONLY there is something called "snipping tool" that will capture a picture of anything on your screen (Macs have had this ability for a while which is why I asked what you had). Go to: program files then accessories then snipping tools. It will give you crosshairs like the kind in the scope of a gun to replace the arrow. Move the crosshairs to the far upper-left corner of the picture, hold down the button and drag the mouse to the other corner to highlight the entire image. Let go of the button and it will photograph the entire highlighted area and then you can save it as a jpeg.
3. Redo the document in powerpoint or photoshop or some other program that allows a picture format and then go to "save as" and where it says "save as type" drop down to the jpeg option and save.

I know it may seem scary to see people in jackets now, but keep two things in mind...
1. It has been stinkin' hot here, so any opportunity to dress warmer is gladly accepted.
2. The temp doesn't change much throughout the year like it does in other places. Yesterday, for example, had a high of 70 in Anaheim @ 2 and a low of 60 @ midnight. I have walked around DL MANY times in Jan and Dec in a t-shirt at midnight. We may have a front that comes in and makes it freezing for a few days, or super warm, but in general the temps stay pretty constant in the winter (70's during the day and 60's at night)
Hope that helps...

Melissa

Thanks Tami for the advice about the coupons, so glad I saw your post before I order tonight! Also how did you put the swirly border on yours? Is that a 'customize' option on Vista?

The other thing you can do is save it as a pdf file. You can download an extension for word (if it's not already there) to save any word doc as a pdf.

Great, thanks for another good suggestion! I guess when I get home I'll try a couple different ways and see which gives me the best quality image.

That said it all!!

Toooo Funny!!!

We had a great time with the fabulous socal folks!! Thanks for all the info & tips -- I should have brought a notebook.

I just know we are going to have a blast! I've been looking back at some old posts to get caught up, and I simply must say . . .

Budget car code - Y937800. Try it if you need a car prior to the cruise. It says it is only for 15% but it got me a much deeper discount than the WalMart code did which can be 25%.

Also, we will be at OKW January 5th and would be up for a meet late afternoon. We have dinner reservations at 7:30 at California Grill.

I was re-reading cruise tips. I see that it says to complete check-in online AND print out the signature page. I did check-in online, and printed out everything, but I dont see a signature page. Am I missing something?

There is a signature form for the Cruise contract. You don't need to print out all the contract if you don't want, but you need the signature page.

There is also a signature page for the authorisation to charge to credit card after you fill in the payment authorisation form.

Yes, the swirly stuff is right after you select "use my photo" . A light blue box asks you whether you want large front or small front design and next to that box is the upload box. Upload the pic. the design will show on the shirt. If you scroll down about 5 rows you will see the swirly design. There are LOTS of designs to choose from, but the blue from the swirly design went well with the mickey design. Click on select this design and it will go to the next page where it is larger. Then it asks if you want any text, or if you want to design the back. Just keep clicking what ever you want and you will get to the end.

I just wanted to let everyone know that there are no longer any "extra" lanyards - they have been purchased if they do come in.

Thanks!

I suppose I am exactly the opposite - it has to get down in the 50's before I will bring out a jacket as I think that is warm. It is all in what you get used to.

OK, off to find Brooklyn's picture and see what I can do on Vistaprint.

We might see you at Cali Grill- I cant remember offhand what time our reservation is, but i'm sure its within an hour give or take of your time. Cant wait, I just love the view from there!
