SW booking is available - unfortunately the flights out of SJ are not great - looks like we are flying out of Oakland $144 per person!!

:cool1::woohoo:

Kept getting error messages. I finally called, since I was hoping to use a rapid rewards. Instead of going out of San Jose on 12/31, we are going out of San Francisco. We leave there an hour later on a direct flight, and get in 10 minutes earlier than the San Jose flight. The fare at that time from SJ was $226. Out of SFO is $279, but our total is $5. I can live with that. I may even "go crazy" and book "early bird." LOL!

Also made our Thanksgiving reservations to Anaheim - $79 each way, so I'll be watching for Ding fares.

Hope everyone gets the flights they want.

I also wasn't impressed by the fares out of San Jose. But I also don't want to pay to get to Oakland or SF. There are still lots of options (United, Continental) that are less expensive than SouthWest even taking luggage into account - very surprising.

Anyway, I think it's safe to wait a bit and see what kind of sales come up - or maybe see if Virgin America can get that SFO non-stop up and running. :cool2:

Out of Los Angeles the lowest fare was showing this morning at $577.00 for the 3 of us. Even taking bags into consideration, we are coming is just under that so I am glad we grabbed the American flight when we did. Time wise - it is pretty close leaving and arriving wise.

Even though I was hoping for better fares out of Houston (we paid $618.80 for 4 of us nonstop on SWA), I know it was the best deal currently. Delta, AA, United, USAirways, Continental, and Airtran were either just $10 cheaper, the same, or higher and that doesn't even include bags. Plus, all but one of those had stops. I'll still keep an eye on dings and specials as we could always use the credit if the rates go down. Plus, we'll be having our return flight to book.

It's exciting to have our air booked! Makes it seem more like a reality that we are going. My dad, who watches our dogs while we are gone, has known about this cruise since we booked it. Anyway, I brought up that I bought part of our airfare and he started asking questions. He said "Over 2 weeks!!!" Well, he lives in our house free of charge so I don't feel too bad :goodvibes

To all of you in the Bay area, sorry the SJC flights are so high( unless you are a Giants fan then I say Ha Ha. Just kidding). I was looking at a chart and somedays have been clasified as peek holiday travel time. So fares will be higher. Remember the bussines if bussines is to make money. For example. The day my friends and us want to travel is Jan 4. That day has been clasified as a peek holiday travel day. The day before is also the same, but the 2nd and 1st is a day were we cut flights due to forcasted lack of demand. It really is a weird industry I work in. I am glad I don't have to deal with this type of thing.

I wondered why the 4th was so high - but don't want to pay the hotel bills to fly on the second, although I certainly could fly the second. Wonder if my room mates would consider that?

We're booked!!! We did get the 7:55am flight out of Houston Hobby with arrival at MCO at 11:00am. Looks like we'll have time to get our rental and be at Earl of Sandwich in time for lunch :thumbsup2

Now we're off to the orthodontist. Glad I got this done before heading out.
God luck with the orthodentist

You have A plan!!:thumbsup2

Thanks! She got a new band and the braces should be off in the fall. The bad news, she'll be in a retainer during the cruise and I'm really worried about her keeping up with it when away from us. She loved ordering room service and hitting up the counter service for pizza while hanging out with her new friends. I will stress over and over how important it is but know how things get overlooked by kids. My mom worked for an orthodontist for years and she said kids were always accidentally throwing away their retainers wrapped in napkins.

Hey, I'll take a holiday in Scotland sometime and watch after your pooches! We all :love:LOVE:love: dogs!!!!

Our Jan 4th flights are booked on SWA, 7:30AM out of Sacramento, one stop in Las Vegas that leaves at 10:25AM then into Orlando at 5:50PM, $195 per person. A little higher than I was expecting, but I'll watch the prices for a while and see if I can get a credit to use for the trip home. One step closer!

It is always a worry stuff like that, i suppose its like my dn, she was only 4 when she got specs, she was always loosing and sitting on them:confused3
Funny, I joked with someone 15 years ago , a pen pal I met through work, she should come watch my cats and I go to Fl, her and her sister came:thumbsup2 one of the best friends I have, been to visit me twice, even her Mom and Dad came to visit us a few years ago.
We have been to visit her in Kansas,it was an amazing holiday.
Unfortunatly I only have 2 bedrooms but were away so much and my cottage is so nice its a shame to waste it. I like it when folks use it when I am not there. So any time........

Alright, here is the return flight update. On 8/17 you can book your flights home.

Honestly I really did not pay attention to it, but is is mid March.

That is all that matters thanks Alan. We just need to get from either Phoenix or LA back to Orlando a short time after our cruise docks. Still haven't made any plans. I was so put off by the hotel prices and decided I couldn't justify spending as long as we had planned, and John doesn't want longer than 3/4 weeks in Orlando. So, I stopped planing for a while.:lmao:

:rotfl: He loves staying in the US, but didn't want as long a stop in Orlando that time having done 5 weeks last time and having over 2 in October coming. He thought going back to Arizona in cooler temperatures and with it being closer, would be good so we didn't need to make a special trip with expensive flights again. We could indeed still have a few days over there, but really it wouldn't be worth the journey for that. Nowhere else is really warm enough to visit. Hope all that makes sense. Basically just trying to make the best use of expensive air fares!!
