Its disgracefull, dont get me started about nursing care, I went to bupa to get a hernia op done as I did not want to wait on list, it was like night and day Im afraid. My aunty was blind and they plonked everything down in front of her, so sad.

It is unbelievable, pancreatitis is really very common in spaniels, we have them doped up to there little eyeballs with pain meds:thumbsup2 Some vets dont, but trust me the ones I work with do;) they have no option unless they want me giving them a nippy heed as they say in fife.
.

John was prepared to have me go private for this op if the waiting list was bad, but it isn't(we will see;)) Also with it being a day case i wouldn't get any real benefit. It all get my back up I'm afraid. If the NHS works then it is brilliant I have to say, but some things.......:sad2:

Can I come along to your vet's practice?:rolleyes1

I really can't believe how some of these poor chronic pancreatitis sufferers have been treated. It is beyond belief and it brings tears to my eyes. At least mine should be a one off( I hope)

Pancreatitis isn't really all that uncommon. It becomes more common in certain groups. We saw a lot of it when I was in the military. They do suffer, like I said it's up there with childbirth and kidney stones.

It will be.and your op is beyond us, but trust me,plenty of other stuff goes on here.lol.

I wonder if humans are like animals, its not diagnosed but they have it and get over it.

Most cases of Acute Pancreatitis are one offs and most have no other attacks. :)Some go on to have Chronic Pamcreatitis because the pancreas happened to be badly damaged in the attack, or because appropriate treatment didn't start early enough etc. Some people have Recurrent Acute Pancreatitis, which can lead to Chronic Pancreatitis as the pancreas becomes more damaged. Some people start off with Chronic Pancreatitis having never had an acute attack.

I would think that some people are wrongly diagnosed, yes.

Happy Mother's Day to all Mothers out there!!

I am looking forward to the FE and Secret Mickey on the Panama Cruise. This will be my first time joining in.

As for cabins, Deborah likes to go Cat 3 on long cruises.

Those 3 in 1 laundry sheets are wonderful. We RV alot and they are a wonderful space saver and work great. The washer & dryer in the RV is small so we cut the sheets in half. Great invention

Not sure I shared on here at the time, but forgive me if I did!!!

I was in hospital for 9 days in December very poorly with acute pancreatitis, a very nasty painful illness:scared1:.

They couldn't find the cause at that time despite numerous tests and an ultrasound scan. Apparently there are about 60 known causes of which alcohol and gallstones are the most common. Alcohol wasn't the cause I must add here. I did have a further ultrasound at the end of January which did show some tiny stones in the gallbladder and inflammation, so they sent me for an MRI scan. Waited 5 weeks for the result - no stones now:confused3 but some inflammation. The radiologist checked carefully for stones in the bile and pancreatic ducts, but none there either. They don't want me to have another pancreatitis attack(me neither) so want to take the gallbladder out. So, just waiting for the date to come through. Should be a day case keyhole op and not much of a problem, and will hopefully get rid of this daily growing pain. If not, then:confused3

Blessings for a fast scheduled time and a speedy, uneventful recovery.

I worry too about shrinkage etc when sending things out to laundry. In fact I line dry as much as I can. Funny thing is they always seem to shrink anyway!!!;):lmao: I rarely tumble dry tops, though I quite often start off in the dryer to get the worst off. Not sure I could send my undies out to the laundry though!!!!

We have an over the door organiser for cruises, but it goes inside my side of the bathroom(s) and is filled with my toiletries etc!!!

Enjoy the new fridge and dishwasher.

I have often wondered about the 'undie' situation - don't think I could send mine either. And - I don't own enough to not have to wash inbetween - now that was probably TMI - but truth none the less.

Well, I took those on our B2B last November and I won't do that again. In fact, if anyone would like what I have, let me know and I will send them your way. Half my laundry came out with spots. My biggest issue with DCL's dryers is they seem to be hot or cold - no 'warm' setting. I put our stuff in 10 or 15 minutes and then begin taking shirts, tops and slacks out to finish drying on hangers.

You all were busy while I was traveling yesterday. Boy, was it windy. In all my years, I don't think I ever drove in so much wind and had it stay with me all the way home. But, at least Drew isn't driving in it today.

Take care and enjoy your day! Happy Mother's Day!

I'm another fan of the Purex 3-1 sheets for trips. I buy the fragrance free one. The key is to put the sheets in first and let the water fill up before adding clothes. We have not had any problem with spots. Was it with a specific type of fabric?

We too like Purex sheets. We take them when we go to see the mice and when we our on the Disney Ships and Carnival too. Less clothes to take. We still take too much. We put them in my suitcase whnic has the pocket. I put them in a ziplock and they are good to go.

I dont think we get them in the uk, maybe in 3 years:laughing:

Wow I was away most of the weekend and come back to find 3 pages worth of catching up! Much interesting talk on the verandah debate. This will be my 4th Disney cruise and I've had a verandah every time. I just love leaving the door open a crack at night to hear the sound of the waves crashing--priceless. I look forward to that every night : )

Actually I do agree re that, I never even thought about it, I love the sound of the ocean more than I like to look at it.

I never thought about leaving the door open a little. However I use ear plugs as John snores for England, so I wouldn't hear the waves anyway!!!!!:lmao: He might though, and perhaps it would stop him falling into that part of sleep where he snores!!!:rotfl:

Yea, the sound of the waves is really great to fall asleep to and wake up to. It does let some humidity into the room, and normally at home I am an A/C freak and love to be cold at night with all the covers, but on the cruise I make an exception because I have the rest of the year to have my climate-controlled cool room to sleep in but only a short time on the cruise to enjoy the breeze and the sound of the ocean :goodvibes

The machines on the ship are all front loaders (as is mine from home) so that won't work. And I don't know if I put it in last or first - don't even remember. Maybe I should experiment from home but as I remember, I had spots on my capris as well as a few cotton tops.

Thanks for the info Gail as I've only used them in top loading machines. I wonder if it's because the front loading machines use less water?

Going to have to think about the detergent thing. Definitely planning on having to do some laundry. Did not do any on our 7 day cruise - but cannot imagine packing for 15 days.

Thanks for the BBB tip - going to have to try that if Palo is full!!

I will bring a few tablets from home....

Is bbb waiter service at night?

Yes. We have eaten at Topsiders on the Magic in the evening a couple of times and loved it. Great salad bar as well as other starter options, and we both enjoyed the food options. Service was excellent too.
