Oh you have reminded me of a funny story.

In grade school my husband had to write a report about his Scotish Heritage. He mentioned kilts several times. He misspelled it. To this day he wonders how hard his teacher laughed when she read it...

I am watching for airfares. It is very expensive to fly from here...even more than you have to pay Lynne! I am hoping to catch a sale of some kind! Right now we are looking at $800USD each.

Hope everyone has a great day...and mind your spelling!!!!!!
thats funny, at least he seen the funny side.
Hi All,
I hope everyone had a great weekend and an even better beginning to your week. I had the craziest few days as I decided to drive up to Nor. Cal. on Sunday (9 hours) and then get up at 4:30 am on Monday to fly BACK to So. Cal for a meeting and then fly BACK to Nor. Cal Monday evening! Very, very silly decision!! Ah well, at least I am here now and can relax!!

I wanted to say that my heart aches for all of you who are going through the challenges with your loved ones! I cannot imagine how hard it is to deal with parents who are not the people you remember! I have a very dear friend who just lost her mom to dementia and she was always commenting on how strange it was to see the brain practically deteriorating right in front of her eyes!
There is very little I can do, but know that you are in my prayers each and every day!!!

RE: Earthquakes--For the SF quake I was in Napa (an hour away) and for the Northridge quake I was in Lancaster (an hour away) so I have felt my fair share of rockin' and rollin'! But, I have to admit that I would much rather have earthquakes over hurricanes or tornadoes! In my 38 years (so far) I have experienced two big ones (one northern and one southern CA), which I think is pretty good compared to the number of tornadoes or hurricanes some of you have to endure. We just have to have very rubbery buildings in Cali!! Personally, I think we get used to what we know--it's the unknown that seems more scary.

Lynne--did you get my PM???

I hope you all have a wonderful week!!
~M
Hope your meeting was worth it.
NO, I dont think so, I just checked again and cant see one, I get an email as well when I get one, sorry, Lynne

Need advice from all u travelers: Dying to go see DD in Toronto while she rehearses to be CM. It's almost $500 a piece on Kayak (many airlines, not all) and over that for Air Canada. Its been suggested we fly to...and there's the rub, we're arguing. I was thinking Buffalo and see Niagra (canadian side) and then on to toronto (i know, very quick view of it) but others suggest other places such as Rochester and even...i forget. Please let me know your opinion of where's best to fly into if willing to drive some to toronto. Buffalo i THOUGHT was 2 hours. so that's good. but is it accurate and is somewhere else better. any airlines not on kayak (such as air tran/sw) better to use? thanks!

sherri

(ps yes, as you know she's not there yet but need to start thinking on it!!)

Thanks for your wishes. It is so hard to see this. I expected my Dad to be like his dad, and many years from now wake up not feeling well and be gone the next day. i'm just not ready to watch this.

Can't imagine that travel!!!!!!!!! exhausting!!!!

Off to gym, to try and lose before headingt to orlando in january!

We live east of Toronto and fly SW out of Buffalo all the time. We can drive the 4 1/2 hours, have a great day at the falls, cross the border and stay overnight at the Holiday Inn and catch a flight to MCO cheaper than we can fly out of Toronto.

It is an easy drive from Buffalo to Toronto, depending on where in Toronto you are looking at about 100 miles - 1 1/2 hours.

ps. let me know if you have any questions about Toronto, I worked there for quite a few years.

Hi there.

I am Stuart and my wife is Melissa and we'll be on this cruise as well. Hope to meet some of you on board.

I tried to PM TigFanJeff however the site wouldn't seem to let me because I am a newbie on here.

Anyway, looking forward to the trip. This will be our 12th cruise w/ Disney.

Welcome! Just post 9 more posts and you can send a PM. The post can be anything, you just need 10, but you may already know that.

I know. In Dec when we flew to MCO , it was $159 N/S from Houston. However, Dallas to Houston to Orlando was $59! I know they have their reasons but I don't undrstand them. Like you said, Crazy!

Tomorrow I will be an aunt again! I'm at the hospital now with my sis and staying the night with her. Can't wait to meet my new nephew!

Are you an "aunt again" yet?? Congrats on the new nephew!!:cheer2:

How exciting! Gotta post pics:angel:

Welcome Stuart and Melissa (that will be an easy name for me to remember)!

Have a great day all!
~Melissa

Hey there fellow sask cruisers! We just booked our air for the cruise and we are flying out of the states. We were able to do $443 p/p so we were pretty happy with that. We are flying out of Grand Forks, ND. Where in sask are you guys from? Hope everyone is doing great!

Welcome Cindy Girl!

You can PM TigfanJeff to be added to the official website www.wonderpanama2011.com

It seems like we've been waiting forever for this cruise and now it will be here before we know it. The holidays and the end of the year always make time fly.

I still need to order my fish extender as I'm not a creative person.

you know why we all seem to know each other? Because we've spent way too much time on this thread for over 9 months :lmao:! Trust me, we were mostly strangers to start with - and some of us continue to be stranger than others :rotfl2:

Oh so true!!!:lmao::sad2::rotfl:

Our poor TA...I was sending emails about this cruise back in April 2009.:sad2:

Dont know if i'm allowed to do this, but i just saw this on www.msnbc.com:

Airtight solution
Finally, a reliable way to transport wine while flying: The VinniBag lets you pack a bottle in your checked luggage with confidence. Inflatable air chambers protect your treasure against the grumpiest of baggage handlers and guard against the nightmare of a vintage Bordeaux staining your travel wardrobe. Its shape accommodates other fragile items, too, from olive oil to fragile figurines. vinnibag.com , $29.

Dont' know anything about it, but based on one long set of discussions, i figured i'd put it out there!!!:rotfl2:

Welcome Cindy Girl!!!! A good part of the fun is getting to know fellow cruisers before you sail. Our last cruise we made some amazing friends that we still keep in contact with. Looking forward to getting to know you in the next few months!:thumbsup2

:lmao::lmao: I love it!

HI! Well this will be our 6th Disney cruise (11th cruise overall) and our son will turn 4 while on the cruise. Does anyone have any ideas for a birthday party at sea? I know that they will do a cake, but since he won't have a party on land I want to whoop it up! I think they should be doing character dining since it is a long cruise, but any ideas would be great!!

Thanks,

cg

I need some flight help. I dont normally book this far out, usually 3 or 4 months out at the most. But, I still browse in advance. I found $105 one way from PHL to Orlando nonstop, which I'm very happy with. But, when I do LAX back to PHL for January 23 or 24, the tickets are $800 one way for the nonstops! Am I missing something? Why is it this bad? I'm not totally freaking out because there are one-stops that are just under $200, but I hate connecting flights. Is it just that its so far out? I put in San Diego to PHL just for the heck of it, since I used to live there and never had outrageous fares, and it was $282- not great, but not $800 either! Why is LAX to PHL so ridiculously priced? I checked about 2 months ago and it was the same price, no drop...

Have you checked price for a RT? When I used to travel for work I'd fly back and forth to the same location week after week. I'd get a RT for the weekend between work site and home, but for that final trip home it was often less expensive to get a RT ticket and not use the return than to get a one way. Just a thought.
