Glad it wasn't any worse Alan, though any earthquake would freak me out!!!

My mother in law (who lives in Northumbria in the UK) was visiting one year. DH was out of town at the time, so it was just us girls and DS at the time. Around 10pm we had an earthquake - around a 5.something IIRC. So I jumped out of bed, got dressing gowns for myself and MIL. Knocked on her door and asked if she was OK. She wondered why I was concerned so I said that was an earthquake. "Oh" she replied, "I thought it was a truck driving past" :lmao: (We live on a quiet street with little through traffic!)

DH still complains he missed the last two "big"-ish earthquakes here (anything bigger than a 3) as he was traveling the times they occurred.

Well, I got a surprise this weekend. MommaLuvsDis and our daughter in San Diego have been after us to spend some time in California after the cruise but DH has been saying that he just cant do it because of work.

Saturday he surprised me as well as our daughter and said that he is able to carry over a week's vacation from this year so we can stay in CA for a few days. Since DD and family have season passes with blackout dates for DL they can't go on Saturday so we have made a tentative plan. We will get the shuttle to DL with MommaLuvsDis. Then go to DTD where DD will pick us up and take us to San Diego. Early Sunday morning we will return to DL, hopefully staying at the GCV for two nights. Tuesday we will return to San Diego to visit some more with DD and family.:banana::dance3::dance3:

I was really excited to hear this since I wanted to visit DL and the kids this trip but didn't think we would be able to because of DH's work. Things all seem to work out if you are just patient. :thumbsup2

That is great news Carol!! I'm so glad you will be able spend time with DD and DL!!:thumbsup2

My DD's had a great time at her prom. I'm so glad everything worked out for her. There was a time we weren't sure she was even going to go. Thankfully she did and had a wonderful time.

What do you all do with suitcases? We managed to get one under the bed but the other was too wide. and with 15 days even with laundry we may take 3 between the 2 of us. so need advice for where to "store" them.

3.6 may not be much to you, but i'll be glad when DD gets on the ship and all i have to do is worry about rogue waves! LOL.
We fit one under ther bed and put the other two in the closet, using one as a clothes hamper.

The only other place to store a suitcase is in the closet (if you want it out of site). Our suitcases fit insite one another so we can get them all under the bed.
That under the bed storage is great!

I leave mine in the closet, I leave one partially unzipped and use it as my laundry hamper.

That's what we do too! :thumbsup2

I am sure that this tip is already known but if you do not know it..it works great!

Get a plastic shoe holder to clip over the bathroom door (we do it on the inside but I have seen it on both the inside and the outside). This is a great place to store toiletries, sunglasses, anything little and extra. It keeps it out of the way and yet easy to find!

I love the over the door organizer! We used it on our last cruise and it worked great!

I would have been up and out of bed before you!!!!!

We bought one after reading on here and have used it for 3 cruises now. Ours goes inside my side of the bathroom and has all my toiletries in(which are countless these days!!:rotfl2:). Really good tip.

Do you get a cheap one and leave it behind? I'm so worried about packing for 15 days (even with laundry available on board) that I'm concerned about space in the suitcases. I keep thinking I gotta leave room for souvenirs too!

Ours does take up a lot of packing space to be honest, but it really is worth it.

Good morning all. Here in Los Angeles we had a earthquake this morning at about 2:11 A.M in the Santa Monica Bay. I went to the USGS site and it looks like the epicenter was not far from were I live. That would explane why I thought at first someone crashed into our apprartment building. It was only a 3.6 but it was a sharp jolt.

My cousin emailed me this am and never mebtioned it.:rolleyes1

After working a whole week 120+ hours, I went to my mum post squash, gym etc and had a bottle of wine,(get the idea) mum says " wheres Orly" mmmmmmm, I wonder...

turns put Mum planted lots of plants and fed them with bone meal...

Orly had dug them ALL up ,I am talking 3 ft down, Mum was NOT pleased.

Got a laugh your *** off though?

It wasn't that expensive but I keep it. It fold flat and although it does take room... I wouldn't go without it. It is worth it!

We actually use two-one for each bathroom door. They work great. I take them with us on most vacations now and use them in the hotel room. I can put DD's stuff on the bottom where she can reach it, and our stuff on the top where she can't reach.

so i was thinking of using an over the door shoe hanager as a FE. Should i continue thinjing this way? it would mean bringing several (they are 10 a piece on ebay) - one for FE and 1-2 for organizeing in the room. whatcha thinik?

There would be nothing wrong with that. If you are just getting plain ones, they wouldnt be as "adorable" as the Disney themed or handcrafted ones, but it would serve the purpose- FEs are essentially pocket organizers/over door pocket hangers. In fact, I believe there are or were Disney ones out there at some point and people have used those. So yes, you could definitely get away with using one for your FE.

It's crazy. If we flew out of Las Vegas and connected in Phoenix it was $500. If I drove directly to Phoenix the exact same non stop flight to Orlando was $500 more! I hate connecting flights too, but saving $500 was a no brainer...

I know. In Dec when we flew to MCO , it was $159 N/S from Houston. However, Dallas to Houston to Orlando was $59! I know they have their reasons but I don't undrstand them. Like you said, Crazy!

Tomorrow I will be an aunt again! I'm at the hospital now with my sis and staying the night with her. Can't wait to meet my new nephew!

Goofy airlines!

Congrats on the soon to be new addition (nephew) to your family!!!!

I am excited about the toy story on the wonder, I LOVE the toy story.looking forward to the show as even the music is great.

I found my , oh I cant mind the name of them....Im tired, navigators last week, I was pouring over them, it got me all excited.

And your forgeting Kilts:woohoo:

Oh you have reminded me of a funny story.

In grade school my husband had to write a report about his Scotish Heritage. He mentioned kilts several times. He misspelled it. To this day he wonders how hard his teacher laughed when she read it...

I am watching for airfares. It is very expensive to fly from here...even more than you have to pay Lynne! I am hoping to catch a sale of some kind! Right now we are looking at $800USD each.

Hope everyone has a great day...and mind your spelling!!!!!!

Hi All,
I hope everyone had a great weekend and an even better beginning to your week. I had the craziest few days as I decided to drive up to Nor. Cal. on Sunday (9 hours) and then get up at 4:30 am on Monday to fly BACK to So. Cal for a meeting and then fly BACK to Nor. Cal Monday evening! Very, very silly decision!! Ah well, at least I am here now and can relax!!

I wanted to say that my heart aches for all of you who are going through the challenges with your loved ones! I cannot imagine how hard it is to deal with parents who are not the people you remember! I have a very dear friend who just lost her mom to dementia and she was always commenting on how strange it was to see the brain practically deteriorating right in front of her eyes!
There is very little I can do, but know that you are in my prayers each and every day!!!

RE: Earthquakes--For the SF quake I was in Napa (an hour away) and for the Northridge quake I was in Lancaster (an hour away) so I have felt my fair share of rockin' and rollin'! But, I have to admit that I would much rather have earthquakes over hurricanes or tornadoes! In my 38 years (so far) I have experienced two big ones (one northern and one southern CA), which I think is pretty good compared to the number of tornadoes or hurricanes some of you have to endure. We just have to have very rubbery buildings in Cali!! Personally, I think we get used to what we know--it's the unknown that seems more scary.

Lynne--did you get my PM???

I hope you all have a wonderful week!!
~M

:rotfl2::rotfl2:Oh, I can only imagine!!! Should I tell you that one of teachers' favorite things to do is recall all of the "funny things kids say" stories for years, and years, and years and years...? Your Hubby made that teacher the life of the party after that!:rolleyes1
