We are staying off site and have adr for Ohana. I was wondering how long the boat ride across was? Will we be better off going by monorail for dinner, so we wont be late? We plan on watching fireworks after dinner at the beach. Would it be nice to take the boat ride back? Also how long will it take to do all this. We have a adr for 7:55. Thanks all!

If you're going from the TTC to the Poly, you will just want to walk. The TTC is right next to the Poly. It would only take a minute if that to walk to the Poly. There is a little path on the far right of the TTC to follow to the Poly. You could get on the resort monorail if you really want to, the first stop is the Poly and this leaves you off at the Grand Ceremonial House where Ohana is located.

The path is on the far LEFT of the TTC as you get off the tram.

Yes it takes only a minute to get on to the Polynesian property but you still need to walk another 4 minutes to get to the GCH where 'Ohanna is located. And it is a path where you COULD get confused.

You are better off taking the monorail. It drops you off on the second floor, rightwhere you need to go.

by the way there is no boat from ttc to poly. the walk is beautiful, and i dont think it is at all confusing...

I love the path from TTC to the Polynesian, but I would suggest taking the monorail of you are a first time visitor. It can be a bit confusing. Then, when you need to get back to the TTC, I would use the path...I think it's easier to do it that way. And the monorail drops you on the same level as 'Ohana. After the fireworks, just take your time walking back to the TTC.

disneygirlatheart, did you mean you would be in the MK during the day and then going over to the Poly for dinner? If so, either way would be fine--you don't need to go to the TTC at all. When you walk out of MK, you will see the boat dock straight ahead. Look and see if a resort launch is arriving or loading as you walk up. If there is no boat in sight, or it is just leaving, you may then turn to the right and walk up the ramp and take the Resort monorail. It will take you right to the Poly. We take both the resort launch or the monorail depending on our mood, whether or not there are boats arriving/loading as we leave, that kind of thing. (there will probably be more than one boat making the loop at that time, so even if one boat is leaving, make sure to look out onto the water to see if another one is heading in)

The resort launch goes from the MK to the GF, then to the Poly, then back to the MK. The resort monorail goes from the MK to the CR, then the TTC, then the Poly. I find the monorail can actually have more delays than the boat sometimes, depending on traffic. The only time the boat is significantly longer is if you have to wait a long time for one to arrive. The actual ride is pretty quick, even with the stop at the GF. Of course, the monorail can be speedy too, but it seems to get held up for traffic at the CR quite frequently--but not for too long--so it's really a toss-up which one you do. We like to take monorail one direction and boat the other direction, for variety sake. I actually prefer the boat, but dd loves the monorail (we can ride a boat anywhere mom)

Walk to the Poly from the TTC. Any other way will waste much time in comparison. Yes, the path could be confusing, but there are multiple signs leading you the right way.

We will do the path hopefully we wont get lost. It sounds more convienent than the transportation. Is there any where to get a map for the Disney properties? We are staying off site and I have not found anywhere to give you one. Roads, where everything is, etc. Thanks again.

There are maps of the Poly over on Tikiman's site:

disneygirlatheart, are you driving your car and parking at the TTC just for dinner, then driving home (offsite) or are you going to the park as well? The TTC is next to the Poly, but across the lake from the Magic Kingdom, and there is no path from the Magic Kingdom to the Poly or the TTC. There is no boat between the TTC and the Poly--only the monorail, but the walk up the ramp to the monorail is farther than the walk to the Poly from your car in the TTC parking lot! LOL

I am sorry to belabor the point, but I have often seen tired folks walking off down the path that LOOKS like it goes around the lake towards the Grand Floridian, who look very discouraged and sad when it abruptly ends and they have to go back to get a boat or monorail anyway to get across the lake. You cannot walk around the lake to any resort or the TTC--except to the Contemporary Resort. If you are simply driving to WDW from offsite for dinner, you can park directly at the Poly. Are you taking a shuttle from offsite or something that only drops off at the TTC? If so, walking is still your best bet.

I don't have a handy link for maps, but I know there are several online. Try searching the DIS for them, or I am sure someone will be along with a link for you. :) It's kind of hard to visualize it all without the maps (and even with them sometimes, lol) until you get there. I know it was for me, anyway.

Thanks for all replies. We will be at Mk until about 2. We will then go offsite to freshen up and rest before dinner at Ohana. After dinner we will stay and watch the fireworks.
