From the Med to the Panama Canal

All you neat and tidy packers, with cubes, space bags, plastic shoeboxes etc., what do you fill in the corners and little gaps with?

I dream of having everything neat, but in reality my bags look messy with everything squashed into every available space. Niks and socks go into shoes too.

Help me - I need help.:)

You'd croak if you saw how organized my bags are inside. I have no corners or gaps!:rotfl:

Lotions in zip-locks or undies or pjs in zip-locks or anything that doesn't wrinkle that can be stuffed in.

We always get at least one bag searched by security before flying - I dread to imagine how they manage.

Last time I expanded the suitcases to pack and then squashed down to zip back up the expandable bit to make it appear smaller. One was opened by security, but they never got the expandable zip zipped up again!!!:rotfl:

We brought our pillow cases to be signed in our own zip lock bags. We just filed out the form at GS and magically appeared in our room later that same day! It is always a good idea to bring extra ziploc bags. :thumbsup2

Put them in your own gallon size baggie, include a paper with your stateroom number on it and take to Guest Services. I put markers in with mine, but they used their own. :confused3 This really does make a wonderful souvineer.

Thank you for the rapid responses! I will go and get ziploc bags now so we'll have plenty!! And yes, I was planning to stick in markers and I heard candy too for the CMs!! Thanks so much for your help!! I can't wait!

And thanks for the tip on the over the door organizer too! I had read it awhile back I think but I forgot so I'll pick that up too! Any other good tips for us first timers?

If you think Kel is bad, then you have to see a pilot's packed suitcase! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: We can get a whole months into one of those luggage pro's that those crew members use! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: We were gone last year for the TA/Med for 39 days and only had 2 roll ons and 1 regular suitcase. Then we didn't know about those little gifts from Disney so packing at the end was very interesting....:lmao: :lmao: Don't tell DH but I have packed a duffled bag into the luggage this year! Its all folded up nice and neat in the luggage already.

What time should I have the car pick us up from the port? We have late seating so that would be late breakfast. Does anyone remember what time breakfast is on the last day?

I emailed DCL a while ago and asked about timings. They said the ship should be cleared by 9.30am. Don't know about breakfast times though.

OK laundry question, has anyone used Sun with color safe bleach powder laundry detergent? we got these samples and I was going to pack them, but realized i have never used them before.

I've used it (Sunlight brand) in the past and never had any problems:thumbsup2 , but my Mom tried it, and left marks on some of her coloured stuff even though its supposed to be colour safe:rolleyes: , so she would only use it with whites. Maybe she just got a bad batch:confused3 . I always used to put the soap in first and then some water to get the soap dissolved before putting the clothes in, maybe that's why it worked great for me.

I do the same when I use powder. I usually use liquid as we have a septic and I don't want any undissolved detergent gumming up the works. I will get powder to take with us though. I'm going to look at the dollar store and see what they have.

I always bring liquid hand soap. I hate having to use bar soap to wash my hands in our rooms.

The first time we went on our cruise I bought a new variety of antibacterial soap at Bath & Body Works--Kitchen Lemon. Loved the smell.

Now when I wash my hands with it at the kitchen sink, it always reminds me of being on a cruise!

Silly the things that make us smile sometimes.

Thanks for reminding me of that! I can't stand bar soap. I am suprised they have not put the automatic dispensers in to save money. I would not not mind and the hair and shampoo in the showers would be great. We would not have to ask for extra then.
