From Steerage to First Class The Magic 9/12 Canadian Pictures have been added

Thanks for succumbing to peer pressure.....again, so jealous and happy for you two!:thumbsup2

LOL...had nothing to do with peer pressure..had to do with time! LOL.. dealing with kids, and a sick dog...closed the pool today. I had to get the pictures to facebook, then onto my pc, then into facebook...that takes time!! LOL.

Ok, more trip report coming.

Well back to the trip report. After we dropped off our carryons we went to Parrot Cay for lunch. They had the usual fare. We finished up and went back to sessions for some drinks and to find out what Concierge had to offer us. We got our concierge packet, which explained what concierge can offer you. I was surprised to see that I could borrow an Ipad for the trip, never used one before, but with free internet, this would make life eaiser, so I borrowed one. I don’t get what everyone loves about apple products..I wasn’t impressed, I really didn’t care for it :confused3. I would rather have an android based tablet.
We arranged for some ginger ale and diet coke with bottled water in the room. They stock it with sprite, coke and diet coke (there is no charge for the Roy and Walt suite, but depending on your concierge they will charge in the others).
It was getting close to 1:30, and the rooms should be open. DH had a few meetings to finish up with, yes he was working part of the day. It was nice that he was able to do it from our suite. When we got back there, we had the distilled water for DH’s cpap machine and our castaway cay gift was there. LOL, they crossed out the old room number and put in the new one. Since DH was working I went to go on the deck and to the DIS meet. I saw our stateroom host, Albert (he was awesome, a really nice guy), and I asked about our luggage. He said he would go check. By the time I got back to our cabin he had it there for us. Lots of people at the Dis meet, I kinda stayed on the fringe, since DH and I hadn’t signed up to participate in anything, plus I was looking for two of my friends. I stayed for a little bit and went on my way. Since the concierge reception was still going on, I went to get another yummy rum punch. When I left Sessions I saw a group of Disers going to the Spa for the raffle. I spoke to a few and shared our good fortune.
When I got back to the suite, the luggage was there, and DH was still working, so I took that time to unpack. There were enough hangers to hang up everything, including t-shirts and shorts. The drawers under the tv I used for socks and bathing suits etc. They could have used a chest of drawers in there. If we had more stuff I would have had to store it outside the bedroom, which would have been a pain (I know here I am complaining about drawer space in this huge suite, but it is what it is). I stored the suitcases in the second bedroom, which had more drawer space then the master. We heard the sail away party start, and we saw that we were moving. Once DH was done we went up on deck to the end of the party. Wow…it was empty compared to the cruises we have gone on with the kids.
DH got some more pics of NYC and the lady in the harbor. We also saw armed coast guard walking the ship. We had never seen that before. The ship was also booking it…we didn’t sail that fast when we left a few weeks back. Once we were under the bridge we slowed down, and we watched as a pilot boat pulled alongside, to take off the coast guard men. We were to high up to see them do it though.
As we were watching my friends come by! We were able to connect before we saw them at dinner. It was going to me DH and four women, him and his harem! LOL… He enjoyed it, let me tell you! We hung around awhile, then went down to the shops, the opened at six. When we had been on the ship 3 cruises ago, we had gotten friendly with a CM in the store and requested that he put some Canadian shirts aside for us. Wow…good thing we did the store have so little left, but everything Canadian was on sale, and no Bahamas stuff was left. When we went back to the store later on I picked up a few more things, and by the next day, almost all the merchandise was gone. I was glad I bought the Canadian Pin on my Bahamas cruise, since they were all out of this one.
We had late dinner, so we changed and went down to the dining room. We had requested the same head waiter we had on our previous cruise and our request was granted. We had different servers since our previous ones had already left the ship. Dinner was good, and DH and I had our friends over to see the suite. My friend was like her husband will never believe us, and he didn’t until he saw the pictures for himself. We went to bed afterwards, since we had gotten up early and were tired.
Back to that amazing suite we went. I had decorated the door by this point, yes, I decorated the Roy Suite door. LOL, it had Mickey ears and 3 other magnets, two with our names.

I just realised I'm in the Walt suite not the Roy. But still...loving your TR and your pics!!

Are the books in the suite glued down too?

Thanks! Nope, the books are real, and readable, not glued down. There were some in the cabinets too. Lots of classics.

Hey, you were invited more then once! We gave you the tour, then we had Palo dessert party one night. And you guys had an open invite for anytime you wanted to hang out too! :)
Yes, we were invited (and visited) several times. We were just having so much fun in our "steerage" room that we couldn't tear ourselves away!:rotfl2:

Jim didn't believe that you had the suite and that we had dessert with you until he saw the pictures of us putting food in our mouths!

I'm glad Hal enjoyed having his "harem" with him at meals. I think we all kept him quite entertained. We need to start thinking about cruising together again!

Upgrade to the Roy Suite! Wow! Sure would take a lot of pixie dust sprinkled on my DH to get him to suggest we do that! But then, Disney cruises ARE magical, so ya never know! We sure would love all that space!
Thanks so much for sharing your photos and cruise report. I'll be checking back cause it looks like there may be more on the way!

Thanks for posting the photos and all the info. That was awesome! We're going on our first Disney Cruise in a month on the Magic (we usually go to Disneyworld) and are so excited! I loved learning about getting there early to ask for an upgrade. Didn't know that. Anyway, thanks for posting all of this. It helps newbies like me learn the ropes.:)

You are welcome, just remember these are paid upgrades!

We both woke up way to early the next morning, our internal body clocks wouldn’t turn off. It looked to be a gorgeous day outside. We showered in that amazing bathroom, got dressed and went down to Lumieres for breakfast. DH and I were in sync, our DS11 loved the waffles with the dulce de leche whipped cream, we were tempted to order it to takes pics for him, but we didn’t, LOL.
We went to the cooking demo in Studio Sea that day (it was Mushroom Risotto). We wandered around on deck, looked at the navigator but, otherwise, we spent a lazy day on the veranda relaxing and being on the internet (in other words seeing how DD16 was coping with her drama of the day). At one point we went back inside the room and saw that concierge had been there. The suite is so big even with the doorbell we couldn’t hear it outside. At that point we left all the curtains open, so they could see us outside. We also arranged with concierge to have Palo dessert in the suite on the third night of the cruise. We ordered 4 soufflés and 1 pana cotta, plus some decaf coffee. We arranged for it to be delivered at 9:30. We also ordered a hot breakfast from room service for the next morning. I also gave Jenn our Disney rewards card to be put on our account. Basically she is our personal guest services representative. Later on that day we had more fresh fruit delivered, we went downstairs for lunch, I think we went to Topsiders and ate outside, it was a nice day.
Being up so early (6 am), I took a nap. I was also fighting a cough, and losing…LOL. Caught up with movies on the tv, at some point I watched Joyful Noise (cute), and MIB 3. Man, I watched the end of that right before we went to dinner one night…I was so annoyed at DH for not warning me I would cry..LOL. I had my mascara on and it wasn’t waterproof, LOL!
We had walked around the stores after dinner, again. I bought a pin for a friend and that was it. I was really shopped out from our first cruise a few weeks prior…lol. It was nice to visit with the CM’s there. We had gotten friendly with one of them, he was so sweet and helpful. We then retired to our suite to relax, watch some tv and go to sleep.
As a side note, when we were in the cooking demo, they made an announcement Operation Bright Star in Palo. Well DH grabbed the i-pad and saw that it meant a medical emergency. Well we had three friends eating there at the time. They were ok, thankfully. We got the story from them later on. An elderly women in a wheelchair had a seizure, she was sitting near the front of the restaurant.. Our friends said that the staff handled it wonderfully. No one was allowed in or out of the restaurant. They held up either sheets or table cloths to block the view as they were giving the women cpr. Now, we weren’t told that she passed, but when I asked I was told they weren’t allowed to discuss it. So I am going to assume that meant she didn’t make it.

Another early wake up, I went back to sleep for a little bit. I looked out the curtains and saw a very bleak day outside. I was hoping it would burn off. We were having breakfast delivered at 8:30, so I got up and showered and got dressed. When I got out of the shower, DH had the doors to the bedroom closed off, so I assumed breakfast had come. They laid it out very nicely. DH said it was funny, the cm set everything up, and realized that he had salt, but no pepper shaker, and had a look of oh my what do I do. DH said everything was good and tipped him. But as we uncovered everything we noticed we didn’t get the extra cream cheese we had ordered. Not a biggie, DH ran up to topsiders to get it, and brought me down some yummy home fries they had (we hated the hash browns), and a plate of Krispy kermes.
We had the drapes open and were looking out at Saint John. We ate our nice relaxing breakfast and got ready for our first port. We had no excursions planned. We just planned on walking around the city. The only place I wanted to go was this Olive Oil Tasting Bar called Liquid Gold. They had some yummy sounding balsamic vinegars and DH loves different vinegars. I of course forgot the address and the map in the room…lol. As we got off the ship, I was given a beautiful two toned rose, and DH a lapel pin. There was also a singer in the terminal singing. He was really pretty good.
We also handed a map as we left. Well we walked out to the street and went left. We passed the ship next to us, which we found out later was from Great Britain. We passed a tent area set up with vendors for the cruise ships only (we stopped there later on our way back). Past the pier were some stores and an area that had some locals selling crafts. They were still setting up, but we walked around some. We walked across the street into the what was a shopping mall. There was a museum there, but we didn’t go in, we just walked around the store. They had a Tim Horton’s in the mall, and I have heard so much about it, that I had to try it. Was not impressed. The coffee was better than Starbucks (which I dislike), but no where as good as Dunkin Donuts. I did like the Timbits though, they were very yummy. We walked around some more, took some pictures of a wall mural about the city and left.
We did access free internet inside (I brought the loaner I-pad with us),and found the location of the tasting bar. Back out into the mist. I had dressed in shorts and had my DCL hoodie (from 2007) with me. More to protect me from the mist then cold. So we walked up the streets, kinda quiet since it was a Friday and a workday. I saw the store Freak Lunchbox, and got DH to go in. First of all he loves candy stores. It was cute. I bought DS some Bernie Botts Every Flavor Beans. DD a coffin tin of mints, and DH got some violet candy he can’t find in the states anymore. Oh, and they had Dark Chocolate KitKats. They don’t sell that in the states, or should I say I have never seen them here.
We continued walking. Lots of rehabbing going on in this city, lots of scaffolding around. We walked some more and found an enclosed market. Very crowded and warm. They had art, crafty items, and food. Local butcher, and veggies, and souvenirs for sale, very strange combo. We looked around, but didn’t buy anything. We continued walking around, and there wasn’t much to see. We found the tasting store, and DH went to taste! He had me taste one oil (ick) not the stuff for me. I will cook with it, but not just to taste. LOL. He bought 2 bottles of balsamic for himself and one for his dad. And off we went again.
We basically walked in a giant square. We went back to the area that had the crafts. I saw some awesome stone/rock necklaces, but none of these vendors took credit cards. We had cash on us, but not a lot. We finally hit a vendor that took Visa…yes! She had some really pretty items. We found a bracelet that DD would just love, and a necklace for his mom. We finished up there and bumped into our friends and table mates! They were just starting out and we were heading back to the ship. We went into the cruise vending area. We needed to show our KTTW card to get in. Wow, there was a lot of stuff here! I really needed to find something for DS. It is very easy to shop for a teen girl, an 11 year old boy…not so easy. DH tasted and bought some yummy maple syrup. Then we found a vendor that had some nice t-shirts and magnets for me. So we got t-shirts for DH and DS. They also had these cool candies in a Titanic tin. DD is fascinated by the Titanic.
Time to go back to the ship. It was still foggy and misting out. We went back to the ship, and you get a nice view of it when you are walking back on. I had DH take a picture of our veranda from the outside J.
Well we were in time for lunch, so we went to Lumieres and grabbed some food. My feet were killing me, we had walked around for over 4 hours! We went back to the stateroom, and I feel asleep. I woke up to voices, DH and Jenn were talking in the living room (it is still very strange to say that…lol). She was just doing her daily check in on us. She also left us an invitation for the concierge reception the next day at 4:30 – 5:30.
When we were getting ready so leave port they had people on the roof of the terminal waving at us with Mickey Hands and they also had a bagpipe player. It was a nice farewell.
Eventually it was dinner time, and we had changed to go down to the dining room. We were at Animators tonight. Hmmm…last time I was there was a few weeks ago, during semi-formal night where DD16 got sick as we were trying to make it to the ladies room. I have to say most people were very nice and helpful. It did take them a long while to clean up, and DH had to move the stand that has the wipes over there to make sure people didn’t step in it. FYI, we never found out what made DD sick. We are leaning towards the fear factor antics the teens ate earlier that day.
Ok, back to better memories. We had a very nice dinner, and told our wait staff that we weren’t staying for dessert. We were having Palo dessert sent to the suite for all of us. It was to be there at 9:30, so DH left earlier to be there to let them in. Our in room concierge treat that day was chocolate covered strawberries. We didn’t eat them, but saved them for that evening. We had soufflés, sauces and the pana cotta, plus the coffee. It was all good. Granted not ice cream with the soufflés, but that is understandable. It was really good, and we took lots of pictures and chatted for a long time. It was really fun. But all good things must come to an end and the next day was Halifax! So off to sleep we went.

It's fascinating getting a very different point of view of the same cruise my family went on. And now I can put a name to the "Grumpy 'till I have my Monster" magnet we kept passing by!

The bagpiper at the port was right outside our window! We had quite a view for a few minutes.

I wonder why none of us thought to run up to deck 9 and get ice cream for the souffles? LOL!!! I know I couldn't eat a souffle, but ice cream and pana cotta might be good too.

LOL, cause you can't compare the homemade fresh ice cream from Palos, to the soft serve on deck :).
