Hi memom and Jill

I have finally caught up on your report - life has got in the way for awhile. The 2 week small hernia operation back in May and 6 weeks off work turned into major abdo surgery with complications and nearly 3 months off work and a few trips in and out of the hospital.

Will spare the gory details but I was told I could not go on the trip about 2 months ago - which was devastating as we had been planning for nearly 3 years, the rest of the family couldnt cancel and it was so close!!! So I stopped checking the boards and went into hibernation so to speak as was too upset at the time.

But I have great faith that things happen for a reason (must admit couldnt figure that reason out at the time!) and that faith was answered as I got final medical clearance to go just 3 weeks ago!!! So it was lucky I didnt cancel anything - must have known eh?

So as you can imagine - from then it was panic stations getting everything sorted and back to work etc and I cant believe this time next week we will finally be in your lovely country at your favourite place:banana::banana:

loved all the photos from your meet and have to mention the video of Brooklyn on the teacups (was awhile back) but I am in a wheelchair and never been able to get on the teacups - that was the best video I have ever seen and I felt like I was on them and now I have an idea of what it is like, so thanks for that.

Sorry didnt mean to write a book. Hope to log in while I am away and keep up with your adventures. You will be going before I get back as after our 2 weeks at WDW we take another 2 weeks to drive up to New York staying at some places along the way.

So sorry to hear about all of your medical issues, but very glad to know you are still taking a very special trip! :dance3:

That's great that you felt like you were riding the Teacups! That's what I want to do when I take pictures and videos - make you feel like you are there, too.

Hi Memom and Jill,
So glad you made it home safe and sound. I really hate we didn't get to meet Jarvis. But it sounds like you were able to relax some and enjoy being together. Your family is so very nice. I felt like I already knew them. :goodvibes

My son's bday party turned out to be so much fun. About 45 minutes before it was suppose to start the rain came, it was coming down in buckets and then it started thundering. I knew we had to change plans. Parents would not want their kids anywhere near a pool. We wound up moving it indoors. It was crazy for a while trying to contact everyone and let them know the changed plans. The kids just hung out and listened to LOUD music and then played spoons, and even danced a little. We had about 45 min. without rain and my DH and another friend grilled so we were able to feed all those starving teenagers. I think kids just like to be together. It really doesn't matter what they are doing. I was so worried about it but in the end they all seemed to have a great time. A couple of them told me "that was the best party ever!" Who knew...:rotfl:

I wanted to ask you Sat about your trip last year around NYE. But I never got around to it. :confused3 We are planning on staying off property for 12/30 & 31. We really want to see all of the resort decorations so we thought we would resort hop and then check in to our resort on 1/1 and make that our first day in the park. I was wondering how crazy is it getting around during that time frame. Are the resorts crazy busy with tons of people too? I am assuming it will be very busy; we have never been during a '10' crowd level. Should we use Disney transportation or our own vehicle? What are your thoughts on DTD during that time? Would you go there?

BTW...I will call us even in the picture posting dept. ;)

It is feeling like fall here this morning! :thumbsup2 Hope everyone has a great day!

Darlene

The resorts didn't seem any busier to me, as far as walking around Grand Floridian or Polynesian, except maybe around the gingerbread house itself. The parks were very crowded - we'd go for rope drop and leave mid-morning. In the evening, we'd get Fastpasses and just do whatever worked for us without a hassle.

I can't say about transportation. We always take the buses. I would think by the time you find a place to a park and make your way in that it's probably the same time as a bus. Crowd wise, the buses do get packed, but they do in the summer, too, so we're used to it, and it's just for a short ride. People have different opinions of the buses, though.

It was cool this morning. Very nice.

My in-laws recently visited St. Louis and did the arch. The shuttles are TEEEEEEEEEEEEENY! The door looks like it was about 3 feet high. They said it was awesome from the top, but the ride up and back down is a bit unnerving, even for those that don't mind cramped spaces or heights. :scared1: I can grab a picture of my DSIL's Facebook, but seriously - this is MeMom's report, I will spare her!

Thank you for sparing me. :thumbsup2
Drew has been up in the Arch. He assured me I would never be able to do it.

Brook, you crack me up. I have a picture of that shuttle thing, too, but I figure if we post t hem Memom will ban us from this report:rotfl2:

I'm not really scared of those things, and I wouldn't get in it last year.

Memom - I loved all the pictures from the meet. Looks like a great time!

Yes, all those who terrorize the claustrophobics among us will face consequences. I will find your phobia and get you back. :goodvibes

group room rates sound great!

I haven't been to St. Louis to do touristy things since I was in high school but there are lots of things to dothere. The zoo and the Science Center (among other things) are both in Forest Park and both free! I also remember the Missouri Botanical Gardens are very neat and picturesque and not too expensive. I've never been to City Museum, but my friends from that area all thought it was great.

For us, if we can swing this, it will probably be zoo, mall, and Arch.

More Animal Kingdom wildlife.

It's this! :cool1:

IMG_6369.jpg

Magical, it is. Truly magical.
It takes quarters. :)

My school's guidance counselor is going to WDW Thursday. She's staying here. I have told her about this incredible lobby.

IMG_6370.jpg

And this fireplace.

A pin from the lobby kiosk.

I took the bus from Wilderness Lodge to Hollywood Studios to get back to Pop. The sky was not looking too friendly.

Then it was Jill's turn to go out and about. She and John went....I'm not sure where. DTD, I think.

Brooklynn, Bella, and I spent the evening together.

First, a little time with Goofy.

IMG_6390.jpg

IMG_6391.jpg

And then the kiddie pool.

IMG_6392.jpg

They played for a long time just filling up these two water bottles and pouring them out over and over.

We went into the food court to sneak a little treat.

IMG_6400.jpg

They had a lot of fun, and it wore them out.

IMG_6405.jpg

In the room, we had sandwiches, chips, and fruit.

IMG_6408.jpg

Not really sure where these fireworks were from. We were on the parking lot side of the Walkman building.

Really enjoyed your WL pictures!! What a gorgeous resort! I hope to stay there someday!!!

What a fun evening it looks like the girls had with their MeMom!!!

I really like those MEP pins! I will have to get me one of those!!!

Checking and finding wonderful Ak and shopping pics.

Well I finally did it.

I started a trip report.

So I guess I am pimping it a bit so maybe someone will read?:flower3:

I am starting a way back to the beginning of my annual pass. So it may be a while until I get to July or September for that matter.

Link in in my signature... I hope.

I just LOVED :lovestruc the dismeet pics!!! AWESOME!!!! :cool1: Glad you all could spend some time together!!! What a nice family...a big happy disfamily! :goodvibes

Course, I am loving the trip report pics too!!!! Following along :surfweb:

Love the Wilderness Lodge photos. We ate at WCC last year and I never made it into the store. DH would love those WL shirts.

The girls are so cute playing the water. I can just imagine how fast they knocked out that night after their water play.

Yes, all those who terrorize the claustrophobics among us will face consequences. I will find your phobia and get you back. :goodvibes

Which is why I would never, ever do that...aside from wanting to spare you the trauma, of course. If I saw a clown on here I'd be outtttt :rotfl2:

The arch does sound very cool. I'm not bothered by closed spaces or heights, but Charles is bothered by both, especially heights, so I'd probably never do it just to spare him the anxiety.

The DIS meet looks like so much fun! I've only ever gotten to meet Katie and Christine, but I would love to be part of a big meet like that.

When my girls were little they would spend hours on the steps of our pool playing with cups and the water. Just like your two...
What a fun evening!

Golly, I have no idea.:confused3 I'm bad with directions and stuff and have no idea what's between you and me. Off the top of my head I would think somewhere in North Carolina???
Are there enough people out this way to make a meet worthwhile?? It might be too far for all of us. I'd love to be able to work something out at some point though since it looks like our summer plans won't match up this year. We didn't get to spend nearly enough time together thanks to late boats, rain, and dinner!!!

Where in NC? I could possibly make that. Of course, if you do it in the mountains that's still like 6 hours[ away from me! I live on the other end of the state...by the beach./COLOR]

I think North Carolina would be a great place for a meet! :goodvibes

:thumbsup2 I agree!

That looks like a great rest of the day! Are you sending the counselor with quarters for you or are you hoping to make a visit of your own soon? My kids love filling up and pouring out cups and water bottles too!

As tempted as I am to just catch up here right now...I should really get to bed. I'll be back tomorrow. :thumbsup2

Saw the pics from the Atlanta meet on FB, though. Looks like you all had a fabulous time!!

My computer has a life of its own.
It submitted when I hit preview, so most all of this was your posts and no replies.
I erased it, and the next post is the submitting of my own doing.

Beautiful pics! I just LOVE the WL...looking at your pics makes me want to stay there again! :goodvibes

It is a beautiful place. Very cozy, I think.

I got the Elliot pin on this trip.

When we stayed at WL, it was just for two nights at the end of a summer trip. It was a nice relaxing way to end a long trip.

I sure miss my AP right now. I hope to renew in March.

We'll be right with you on your report.

You feel like you know people through their pictures and stories, so when you see them in person, it's just so easy to start talking.

Love the Wilderness Lodge photos. We ate at WCC last year and I never made it into the store. DH would love those WL shirts.

The girls are so cute playing the water. I can just imagine how fast they knocked out that night after their water play.

Does that mean you passed up the magic fountain, too?!?!?

Yes, water play zaps them out quite nicely.

Which is why I would never, ever do that...aside from wanting to spare you the trauma, of course. If I saw a clown on here I'd be outtttt :rotfl2:

Just start planning a meet up your way. They will come. :)

What a fun evening!

Fill them up, and pour them out. Bella also watered a few of Pop's bushes and chairs. We were the only ones at the pool for quite a while, so it was nice just to sit and watch only those two enjoy the water.

:thumbsup2 I agree!

We'd love to explore North Carolina, too. You guys should go ahead and have one, but maybe in the next couple of years, we can make it to one of your other ones. I know that once you have one meet you will want to do it again.

Tennessee is a long and skinny state sideways, so to go from one end to the other is quite a trip. Luckily, we are in the middle. :thumbsup2

That looks like a great rest of the day! Are you sending the counselor with quarters for you or are you hoping to make a visit of your own soon? My kids love filling up and pouring out cups and water bottles too!

I don't know that we will get to Wilderness Lodge on this very short October trip. I can send quarters with Dr. L, if anyone has requests. She's not a real Disney person, although she does like it, so I don't know if the quarters would have the same magic as with a Disney freak. Maybe two quarters for every one wish? ;) Her son is the one who really enjoys Disney World. He lives somewhere in Florida and apparently makes decent money. When he invites her down, they always stay somewhere nice.

As tempted as I am to just catch up here right now...I should really get to bed. I'll be back tomorrow. :thumbsup2

Saw the pics from the Atlanta meet on FB, though. Looks like you all had a fabulous time!!

We have missed you. :)
Your girls would have fit right into all the fun and activity that was going on with the DIS kids in our little alcove of the food court.

Wilderness Lodge is so pretty! I would like to stay there sometime -- of course, I say that about all the resorts. LOL! I didn't realize they had a Humphrey plushie -- he's very cute! Did you make wishes in the fountain this time? :goodvibes

I may have to get the Mad Tea Party pin on a future trip. I really like that one.

Brooklyn and Bella are so cute playing in the pool and fountains.

It looks like you had a fabulous Dismeet in Atlanta!! :thumbsup2

My brother just moved from MN to Tampa last week, so we are hoping to go for weekend trips to Orlando so that my kids can see their Uncle that they miss terribly. :sad1: That way they can see him and Disney together! :cool1: So reading about Brooklynn and Bella seeing Trent and giving him giant :grouphug: makes me happy and sad all at the same time. :flower3: I just wish we lived close enough for weekend road trips, but I think halfway from MN to Tampa is out of the question! :rotfl2:

Anyway, seeing your trip to the Disney store has made me miss Disney even more! So, a trip to the Disney store at the Mall of America this week is going to be a must! While the kids are back at school, I can take my camera with me and poke around as long as I want! I'll post my pics after I go so you can see what they have!

Great pics of the Dismeet Cherokeemamma :thumbsup2 So great to put the pics with the names!!

Love your WL pictures!! So fun!

I am going to do some research in the next week
or so about Saint Louis...I'll let you know what I find :)

More Animal Kingdom wildlife.

IMG_6360.jpg

I NEED this giraffe! :yay: Not sure how to get it, but it needs to be mine!!! I wonder how I would go about finding one. :surfweb: Do you happen to remember what store this was in by chance? Santa :santa: would be a very loved :lovestruc man if this showed up under our tree this year. :flower3:

gee, I guess I am little :) happy this morning trying to distract from my migraine I guess
