:rotfl2: So. Do you ever sign emails Nebo? DED is kind of like that. I forgot nobody else knows what it means.

DED is slang for something like "so funny it killed me" (as in dead) but it has a very limited use.

Gosh I must have been around for some time, cause I know what you meant.

Ack Steve is back and I'm only on page 40!

It should make you happy that I am reading. It only took 2 months to get out of my disny funk, this time.

I heard it was really cold the last few days, I hope you packed warm clothes.

I am making comments from way back so I have to say I really really like the Sam Elliot look.

Glad you are back safe and sound, Yea for not having to jump just at the right moment and no explosions.

Gosh I must have been around for some time, cause I know what you meant.

DED=Maelstrom thread????

Nebo and Smidgy, glad you're back an obviously not totally frozen to death. It would have been worse back home, right? Right!

Looking forward to your latest adventures, as the temps here creep back up to the 70's for the weekend (but short-lived, 50's again next week, worse than before, grrrrrrrrrr)

Welcome back Steve!! :dance3:

We've been back a week now and still goiong through Disney withdrawals.. Hope it wasn't too cold for you two wwhile you were there.. It was great the first couple of days we were there, then the front came through and it was jacket weather the rest of the time we were there (I can't believe i'm saying that about Florida.. of course we always go in summer). Then we get on the plane to come home and find out they are calling for snow.. Now granted when they call for snow in Southeastern Virginia it's nothing like when they call for snow up where you live (but a couple of inches here has everyone in a tizzy while you would consider a foot "flurries"..

DW and I were a little sad there were no Nebo sightings when we were there same times as you.. even sat in the rocking chairs in your fave DSA hoping to see you.. and of course did a double take every time we saw a bald guy with his shins bleeding :rotfl:

Anyway.. hope you and Smidgy had a good time.. we had a blast.. went to the MVMCP Tuesday night and LOVED it.. DD8 loved the hot chocolate/cookies stands.. I don't think there was one we didn't hit!!:scared1:

Anyway sit back, relax, get warm, drink an adult beverage or three and fill us in on you (mis)adventures!!! :dance3:

:yay::yay::yay::dance3:*insert happy dance here. so glad smidgy and nebo are back. can't wait to hear about the trip. visions of :lmao:trip reports dancing in my head.
sorry to hear about your back nebo. i know fisthand that back pain sux. (two back surgeries in one year so i hear ya on that one)
how was the tsa experience? that alone should be a great post.
did they violate you? (just had to put that in there)

Hi there, remember me?

Well, we're getting closer to getting this show back on the road as they say, it for some reason always surprises me how long it takes after a trip to get caught up again with the errand running, bill paying, unpacking and all the crap that goes with it. But my back is showing signs of improving so there's light at the end of the tunnel.
Gonna try and hit some postings now, try to get this stupid back used to sitting here again writing. Thanks again for all the b-day and beginning of the trip well wishes, if I miss you I'm sorry, but as usual all your posts definately encourage me and make this much more enjoyable.

happy birthday nebo make sure to have a safe trip. oh btw my fav wkrp was the thanksgiving one where they dropped turkeys thinking they would fly

You know QB, it has finally dawned on me how you're messing with me. Very good, I can't believe how long it took me for the nickel to drop in.:rotfl: I'm surprised you haven't asked me yet when Smidgy and I are going to get married again. My hat is off for you.

We Canucks have to celebrate Thanksgiving in October. If we waited as long as you did, even our fresh turkeys would be frozen.

Good line!

That aluminum tube of death should be heading south in just a few hours now. Hope you both have a great time. And I really wish you'd stop calling it the ATOD. I travel regularly for business, and have started thinking of it that way lately. Seriously, it's freaking me out!!!

That's great! Why do I have to freak out alone?

Happy Belated Birthday!

Have a great time at WDW!

I bet you are already awake!

Okittysquared you were right on, I barely got two hours of sleep that night.

AAAAANNNNNNND we're OFF!

Hey, that's my line, I always,,,, oh.... never mind.

:bday: I meant to post before you left but didn't get a chance. Hope you had a happy birthday and a very safe trip to Florida! Looking forward to your in detail description of your pleasant trip through security and beyond. You remembered your pill 'tool' bag this time, right?! Happy travels to you, Smidgy...hope it's all stress free. I know that almost every plane trip anywhere, my DH is really crabby and impatient :goodvibes

---

Yes, I remembered my "tool" bag this time and I've never been crabby or impatient in my life and your time is up.

I totally saw you guys Tuesday afternoon around 3:30ish at the POP food court. I recognized you first then saw Smidgys hair and I knew... I was trying to spend my last snack credits before the Magical Depress came, and I was going to say hey...when my son hollered the bus was there. :(
boo...im so mad at myself for not making the bus of sadness wait a few minutes. Hope you guys had and/or having fun (depending on when you read this)

Jillybeane you aare also right on the money, we had a late lunch there Tuesday and I really wish hyou could have had time to stop by, I can be very compassionate to those waiting for the bus of sadness.
Or at least I would have been then, but that was before it was our time to experience the Magical Depress motor coach and what they did to us.
(for those a little slow, that was a teaser right there, without the firecat.)

Ok, ignore that parenthetical aside, it was really stupid even if you did get it, I'm a bit over medicated right now trying to get my back to looosen up.

Get out!? Another trip? Seriously? I just got out of my funk and trying to catch up and you are in WDW?????

I am only on page 17, lots of reading to do.......

Yes you do and I can't start this new semester until the entire class is on the same page.:lmao:

So happy I have this to read. Thanks for writing it Steve.:)

Anything for the only woman who was able to teach this brain dead yahoo how to add my trip report hyperlinks into my signature.

This cheesecakes is just aweful! Dole Whips were the biggest disappointment for me.I concur, concurr, conncurr...like wow man, I totally agree on both those things, the tie dye cheesecake is the pits and the regular stuff is no longer much better. ANd i never did figure out the fascination folks have for the Doles, either Liz or Bob.

I was given the name Monica at birth, my entire family and closest friends called me Moni (mon-ee). Then while i was in radio, they gave me the name Mony Mony-like the song.

I still want to know who started the "in between the lines" swearing that goes on now when a DJ plays that song at a wedding.

I like your story Smidgy. It's cute and I like when a dad uses an endearing name for his daughter.

I have lots of affectionate and endearing names for Diane myself but they won't let me post them here.

Let me tell you what this attitude got them. When we stayed in August, the entire 3rd floor of Pop by the hippy dippy was being refurbed. Yes, you are right, this was just done recently, but it had to be re-done. Why? Well a very large group of about 150 kids with 3 adult chaperones, left every room's bathroom faucet running as they left for check out, caused over 1 million dollars in damage. The bus driver said they were all from Brazil.

Boy, I wish I had known that before the trip so I could have tried to find out as much as I could from them.

Remember the forgotten buildings across from hourglass lake? They were being worked on when we were there late August. The bus driver told Tim that that is were all large groups will be put in the future. I guess they are doing things as cheaply as possible to save on future refurbs.

So all the creeps get to stay at a brand new resort? We were looking forward to checking it oyut and staying there.

So, if you have a large group, book individually, that is my advice. I can't believe this was their thinking. We stayed at this resort the year before, and we went early August and they were playing soccer outside our rooms on the tennis courts of donald's nephews. YOu know, the courts that have signs that say, "Stay off of the courts" I remember it being a bit more tame, but at midnight I was still peeved. It was a four day trip, 3 nights, so i got over it quickly.

Nebo wish I was a spanish fly on the wall next to those bleachers! couldn't resist!!!!!!!!

Spanish fly? Great choice of words cuz I thought for sure when that incident took place at the bleachers one of us was going to be ****ed up!

.

Welcome back Steve!! :dance3:

We've been back a week now and still goiong through Disney withdrawals.. Hope it wasn't too cold for you two wwhile you were there.. It was great the first couple of days we were there, then the front came through and it was jacket weather the rest of the time we were there

Jacket weather? They were ice fishing on the Hippy Dippy Pool!

DW and I were a little sad there were no Nebo sightings when we were there same times as you.. even sat in the rocking chairs in your fave DSA hoping to see you.. and of course did a double take every time we saw a bald guy with his shins bleeding :rotfl:

Yeah Frank, too bad we couldn't meet up, but if you took a photo in the rocking chairs you have to post it here.

Anyway.. hope you and Smidgy had a good time.. we had a blast.. went to the MVMCP Tuesday night and LOVED it.. DD8 loved the hot chocolate/cookies stands.. I don't think there was one we didn't hit!!:scared1:

Anyway sit back, relax, get warm, drink an adult beverage or three and fill us in on you (mis)adventures!!! :dance3:

I have to admit, even I had hot chocolate on this trip.
Man, does it taste terrible with Early Times.

:yay::yay::yay::dance3:*insert happy dance here. so glad smidgy and nebo are back. can't wait to hear about the trip. visions of :lmao:trip reports dancing in my head.

how was the tsa experience? that alone should be a great post.
did they violate you? (just had to put that in there)

QB, really sorry to hear about your back, too, hope your surgeries have improved your situation.
And as far as the TSA is concerned, I'm afraid you'll have to wait for that part, but, oh yes, they got us, just not in a way you would normally expect.

Welcome home (I was going to say welcome BACK, but thought that might be a tad insensitive). :flower3:

Welcome back!! Found this yesterday and am  in it!!! I am sorry for your terrible ordeal at Sports. Love ur writing style. I also like seeing the world from a couple/adult perspective-we have 2 little girls. Can;t wait for more laugh out loud posts and hope you did not lose to much blood or walk into anything to painful this time around :)

FINALLY!

I am completely caught up with the whole entire report. :cheer2: I am so proud of myself. I think it took me about a week. Every night after I finished my homework I have been reading your report. And I always stay up way later than I should, because it was so addicting! (like a book you couldn't put down... but it was a dis thread. hmm)

Well, nevertheless, this was a FANTASTIC report. You and smidgy have awesome adventures, and your trip to disney world was like a story considering all of these things that happened. I remember myself literally laughing out loud at some points. :rotfl: Just great, really.

Thank you so much for taking the time to bring some of the greatest entertainment to the disboards. Your reports are one of my favorites i've ever read. :thumbsup2

Can't wait for the next one!

hi there all! smidgy here, reporting in for "BACK-up duty" (tee hee). .....when I get home from work, for some reason I like to throw a little annoying "zinger" at hubby, for his "enjoyment" at a later time....;)

Fsmith and Jilly bean(are you sure you weren't in an old dick Van **** episode? the puppet that Rob ,buddy, and Sally considered working for? ps, I like to post about one of my fav shows, cause I get a kick out of the way they censor the Dick van **** show, esp, since he is a main character in the Great Movie Ride:lmao:): too bad we couldn't meet up. esp since frank promised to buy hubby a drink!!,, now admit it, you saw us.. counted your singles and change, and decided the "meet" wasn't worth the price!:rotfl2:

well, the night we arrived home, I had 2 loads of laundry done before bed.. and had to SPRING back to work immediately the next morning. (I just wanted to use the word "spring"..makes me forget about the yucky snow outside).
last night was fun at work the whole kitchen is rearranged as they added Pizza ovens, and I have NO idea where anything is. but tonight was good, I had a Christmas party and did pretty good!!!:cool1:

now maybe NEbo will give me back the $83 I had set aside to spend on "whatever I wanted to" on the trip.. because it was my football pool winnings. (from a football pool I won before the trip at the VFW where I tend bar. but not really, because it's "for amusement only"!) ..... the round I bought cause I won was $17,....not that I really "won" anything;). not that VFWs are known for raffles or anything of that ilk. ;)

I did actually have a few people at the restaurant tell me I looked "tan",. where had I been? I was uber surprised that I looked tan at all,... must have been that last day when a bit of sun sneaked out amongst the wind and clouds.

well, greetings to all. I'll leave the story telling to the master story teller. He's the funny one.. I'll just pop back in now and then to provide you with the obligatory Corrections.

when we said our vows for the second marriage, it went something like: "do you agree to let your husband prattle on?, just cause he thinks he's funny?" ... me: "I Do".(only cause I KNOW he's funny. sigh)

"since this is your second time around, and you are dissers, do you agree to interject when you know he is wrong, or misinformed, or mistaken, or you just feel like messing with him?"...... " I DO!!!!"... and so, friends... I WILL!:lmao:

Hi Smidgy! I'm in awe of how you were able to jump back into work the day after returning from the World! Can't wait for the corrections and interjections!:rotfl:

Welcome back you two. No, don't go looking back through the almost 1000 posts in this TR trying to find me... you won't.You are only the 3rd poster whos TR I've read (I use that term loosely, I read the TR, not all the shout outs yet). If a TR doesn't grab my fancy (hey! let go!) pretty much right off the bat... I don't read it. (I can hear you now, "Hey! Here's somebody who's off his bat!") So now that I'm (sort of) caught up, I can follow along with everybody else... but I still have to go back to the beginning and cover off all the stuff I skipped... <sigh>

Just one quick blurb before I go... the whole water balloon episode? Evil. Evil. Evil.... I loved it. 'Course I thought so much about it that I blabbed... now I can't use it. :headache: Probably for the best though...

Uh oh! I hope you are crabby becasue the trip is over and not becasue of the trip itself :scared:

Hope your back is feeling better.

Will wait patiently for this to get started!popcorn::

Glad you guys are back!! It's been lonesome over here without out you. Sorry you had to come back to snow - looked awfully cold there during the game. Also, sorry to the Bears for the shellacing they took at the hands of the Patriots today. Hope that didn't aggrevate your back too much (can't remember how much of a football fan you are). My husband injured his back during a playoff game one year - he was so mad, he kicked a chair and threw out his back. And as you know, once you hurt your back it's never the same.

Hope your back is better soon. Waiting patiently for the next update...

Hi Mary, and welcome to the monkey house. I can't really go too much into what happened yet, if anything, all I can say is that no hospital trips were involved. And thanks for the compliments, you realize they go right to my head don't you? Just ask Smidgy.

FINALLY!

Thanks sis, I was hoping you'd check in soon. No, really thanks and welcome Df508, hopefully there's some laughs left to come.

This was a great line Diane said, and it should apply to all of you out there, feel free to jump in and yell at me if you feel the need. Trust me, I'm used to it.

Hi Smidgy! I'm in awe of how you were able to jump back into work the day after returning from the World! Can't wait for the corrections and interjections!:rotfl:

Hey, what about me? I'm the one who had to brave the elements and go out an retrieve the newspaper off the driveway early in the morning.

Eating S-H-R-I-M-P for lunch and thought of you.

Guess where I am at with reading?

Almost done hey Mony? Ok, when am I gonna lose you again, this time?

Nancy, I was one of the few who knew the Bears were gonna get their buts kicked, I knew their luck would run out and the whole concept of "Bears" weather is a joke.

Honestly we did look for you two.. we did a double take for every bald man we passed (coudl that be Nebo???) but alas no..

well, the night we arrived home, I had 2 loads of laundry done before bed.. and had to SPRING back to work immediately the next morning. (I just wanted to use the word "spring"..makes me forget about the yucky snow outside). DW had to do exactly the same thing.. we flew in saturday evening and she had to get up at Oh dark thirty and head off to work while i slept in (not for too long though.. DD8 woke me up).
last night was fun at work the whole kitchen is rearranged as they added Pizza ovens, and I have NO idea where anything is. but tonight was good, I had a Christmas party and did pretty good!!!:cool1:

I do solemnly swear to call nebo when he strays from the truth!! :)

Did you two go back to Teppan Edo? We ate there our first night at the world.. LOVED IT!! food was great, our cook was very entertaining, and made his volcano spew like crazy!! LOL had a great time.. I made sure not to point out to him that his volcano wasn't as big as another tables (wouldn't want to make a man with knives angry).. ;)

Sorry to hear about the snow up there. Saw the Bears game and boy was it coming down in Chicago yesterday.. I know you're not there but that's the closest guage i have... We had ssnow again here this morning (and most of the day), but nothing like what i'm sure you have up there.. welcome back to winter!!

You have no idea how hard it is for me right now not to use a much overused quotation when it comes to trip reports; good Ol' Dickens, It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.

But you won't hear it from me.

How about, "Some times weren't too bad,
Other times were pretty sucky."

I know, it sounds like I've been complaining a lot lately, but hey, I don't make the news, I just report it.

Ok, ok, sometimes I make it too, but not intentionally.

This trip, I tried, really, really tried hard to make sure all bases were covered. Did all the research, left no stone left unturned. (unless it was Keith Richards)

Believe me, one thing I think I excel at is when it comes to Disney vacation planning. I would blow most travel agents away with my insider knowledge, and how to design a trip to make sure it fits the types of vacationers that have special wants and needs. When it comes to Disney planning I am right up there at the top.

I also pride myself on my modesty and humility, but that's another story. :lmao:

Here's a partial list:

I got caught up in the 15 day Accuweather forecasts even though I knew better. It was changing every day, but at the end right before the trip the general concensus for the entire trip was dry, temps normal to well above normal for that time of year. Daytime highs 75, lows 58 to 60.

But I still didn't trust them, so I went and looked for some pics from the only other time we were there in early December, back in '07.
Yep, there I am in shorts and tank tops, even wearing tank tops at night.
And neither of us could remember ever really being cold then, this was the "Honey I Shrunk the Checkbook" trip.

Ok, I'm sold, just bringing a spring jacket, a sweatshirt, two long sleeve shirts and only a couple pairs of regular socks, all the rest of the socks were the shorty types to wear with shorts.
Wearing one pair of jeans down, one backup for emergency.

Oy vey!

Now, this part may be hard to explain to you guys.

As I have gotten older, I don't handle the vikes as well as I used to do, it's turning into a love/hate relationship.
It just seems that the next day I feel like I have a hangover or something, but it's different than a drinking too much hangover. I also have a hard time sleeping now when I take them, I'm up about 4 times a night.
Then there is always the constipation issue they can cause, ask anyone who's taken them, they'll tell you.

"But honest! I don't remember eating a bowling ball for dinner last night!"

So, with all these negatives, I didn't do as FSmith said I should do and save them, I brought just enough of what I thought I'd need.
You know, I'm the Disney EXPERT, I KNOW what I'm going to need!

So, with that information and since we are now Monday morning quarterbacking, you can see where this all has the potential to go wrong wrong wrong.

Don't misunderstand, there were still some really good times this trip, it's just that after the Brazillian fiasco in July, I had really high expectations for blissful happiness every step of the way.

But we are still going to have some fun here, I'm not quite ready to shove this old keyboard out of the way just yet.

I'll probably continue the same day by day format I've been using so I hope you'll all be ready to join us on our Aluminum Tube of Death when we get this under way, here's a spoiler alert;

the plane didn't crash!

One thing I would like to mention before I end this intro;
Although the usual Disney Pixie Dust was evident in the usual places, it wasn't always where it was supposed to be, and sometimes it seemed like they went out of their way to make sure it didn't fall on you.

That's right, it wasn't Pixie Dust that made this trip so memorable, it was another kind of dust, Disser Dust if you will.

You readers made up most of the slots in my mental highlight reel, and the ones we were lucky enough to meet!
